I am still currently reading Roland Smith's IQ #2 The White House. (view spoiler)[So far Angela's "deceased" mother who is posing as her identical twin sister who was a terrorist who got blown up in an explosion at Independence hall. Now she has infiltrated the White House and is planning on stealing the president's daughter and if she fails she will be killed. I am excited to see how it ends, and see if she succeeds or not. In my opinion this is all a bad idea because if someone figures

IQ the White House by Roland Smith
Realistic fiction
256 pages

This book is a sequel to the book IQ independence hall, which makes them have a common subject, spies. They aren't exactly the same book but they are alike. In this book Quest and Angela are in the White House. There parents are in a band and they have been asked to preform for the president in the White House. So obviously they came too. That night Angela got a text from her mother who works for the secret service. The message said t...more

I thought that this was a great book, the only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was because it wasn't the best book I have ever read in my life. I'm not exactly sure which book holds that title, but this was definitely one of the best. This is one of those books where you either love it or you hate it. I loved this one because of the details and the suspense. This is a suspense/thriller book.
In this book, a sequel, two children named Angela and Quest are at the White House and are trying to find...more

In this installment of the "I, Q" series, Malak is out to destroy the 'ghost cell' - a well-trained, highly organized ring of terrorists. These bad guys have 'something big planned', and she is out to figure out what it is and - if possible - stop it. Malak is now a prominent character in the story - instead of someone who shows up at the end. We also meet a number of other agents/spies. This story takes us into the White House, where we learn a bit more about Malak's past as a Secret Service ag...more

This is the 2nd book of the IQ series. The story continues, the story is kind of similar to the first book. It is continuing the story about secret service agent and about Angela's mom. But only the setting is different, it happens in the white house. I won't say lot about the story because I might spoil it.
This is a book I liked, but still; there was lots of disappointment. When I finished the story, I didn't feel like the time when I finished the first book. This book was also very hard to wri...more

This fast-paced second installment in the I, Q series won't disappoint fans of the spy genre. There is more international intrigue and a search for a sleeper terrorist cell poised to strike in Washington DC. Younger readers may have trouble keeping up with plot details about the Middle East and organizations like Hezbollah and the Mossad, and the differences between the CIA and the Secret Service. The terrorists are Islamic, but the author does point out that they represent a very small percenta...more

I am HOOKED. Started it last night even though I have no time to read!!! I am going to be VERY ANXIOUS for the third book, but just in case it's not out for a while, I will try to slow down my reading of this great mystery series. There seems to be several middle grade mysteries with White House or Secret Service connections out right now, but this is by far my favorite!!! (And seems pretty age appropriate for its intended level) I even woke up at 5:30 AM to sneak a little more reading in...more

Liked the White House setting and the spy action adventure story, but I wished there were more "James Bond"-like technical gadgets, these were more "normal."

This book starts soon after the first book ends, so if you read the second book a long time after reading the first, you may need a review. The third book, as yet unwritten, is a continuation of at most hours after the second book ends.

Likes:
* SOS - retired spies off-the-grid agents
* Clever chapter titles, so you can locate previous events

This is the second book in Roland Smith counter terrorism thriller series I liked it just as much, if not more than the second one, but for different reasons. It is more gritty as it tends to deal with the finer details of terrorist attacks, and intelligence agencies. Although White house has a slightly different tone, the suspense is even more present in this novel. I read this one and the first one multiple times, and can't wait for the much delayed third installment!

Finally!! I had to read the first one again because it took so long for this one to come out, but I probably liked this one even more than the first one. Smith gave you all the lead-in information in the first one so this book just hits the ground running. The action and intrigue were amped up for this book. I love the whole involvement with the White House and the Secret Service. Pretty sure it is off the charts far fetched, but it is definately a fun read.

I liked the book, IQ Book Two, by Rowland Smith. One reason I enjoyed the book is because of its ability to make you want to read on. The story line was intense with a lot of spy action. The characters were about the same age as me and they were likable. The main setting of the book takes place at our nations capital, the White House, in Washington D.C. The main characters in the book are step siblings Q (Quest)and Angela. The main conflict of the story involves terrorists who attempt to sabotag...more

Second in what promises to be a great series! Fast-paced with lots of twists and good characterization. Smith has come up with an ingenious way to deal with parents while kids are off doing dangerous things and saving the world--they are just starting a tour for their new super-hit album so they're booked up (not bad, clueless, or absent parents). I howled with dismay when I discovered that the third book in this series isn't out yet! What a cliffhanger!

Good book...I love how there was no masking of material possessions...my least favorite parts of books like this one are when they say something like "Smartphone" instead of iPhone. I like how they say iPhone :).
I also got sucked in by the other possessions and opportunities he has...I watched Batman because I want a Lamborghini and a G6, then it was good. I read this book because of the Range Rover and the iPhones, and then it was great.

I went back and forth between giving this 4 stars or 5 stars. I went with 5 because books that appeal to boys are more difficult to find than books that appeal to girls. This is a book that I can recommend to boys or girls from preteen to grown-up. But whatever you do don't read it! At least not now. Wait until June or July because the release date of Book 3 is July of 2012. This book leaves you hanging! Really hanging. A lot.

The book takes off right where the first one left you. Q and Angela are still tring to help Angela's mother keep her secret - that she is still alive. This time, their parents are going to perform for the president. Terrorists are ready to strike again. It is up to them to try to keep everyone safe.

This book leaves you with a major cliffhanger...and not everyone is safe.

Can't wait to read the nest installment.

I enjoyed this book more than the first book in the series, perhaps because I was familiar with the characters or because the plot seemed more straightforward. It was easier to keep track of who was a good guy and who was a bad guy. There were still moles in the white house, and their identities were not disclosed until the end of the book. Full of adventure and action, I can't wait to see what the third book has in it.

This book two of the series did not disappoint. No mention of a book three though and the story was totally left open for one. AGH! I hope there is one, I just need to find it. Really enjoyed this. Had an easier time (kind of) following the story as in who was on what side, etc. Hard to know with terrorists and spies! No language, nothing inappropriate whatsoever.

The second in the series about Q, his new stepsister, his famous parents, a ghost terrorist cell planning a horrible event in the U.S, and the group of spies going after the cell. The action has moved to the White House and has brought in more characters including the President's family. It's a fun read although a bit unbelievable. Now waiting for the third in the series...

This book was really good! I can't give away the ending because you have to read the series to find out what happens! Although, I can tell you that Angela and Q meet the president, and there are terrorists in the White House. The ghost cell is spreading. The ghost cell is a group of elite terrorists who are planning attacks on many places.
Aimee
Not bad. I enjoyed it more than Book One. This whole episode (there will be 4 books in all) takes place in the White House. Certainly at times the plot and characters seem a little over the top, but keeping in mind it's a book meant for middle grade readers, I think it works. I enjoyed being inside the White House for the story.

James Patterson (except way better, IMO) for the younger set. Actioned-packed and one of the few books I've read where efforts to connect to teens don't seem contrived - it even has iphone text bubbles! I actually liked this book better than the first in the series and will definitely be reading the next installment.

Q and Angie are back and visiting THE White House. Their rock star partents are playing the White House and the caper is about to begin. Angie, Quest and the readers are gonuig to have to sort out the good guys from the bad guys in this thrilling caper at 1600 Pennsylavania AVenue. A hit!!!!!!!!!!!!
Donnie
I thought this was a really quick pase book. It was really interesting and once I was half way through the book, I couldn't put it down. With this book being the second book in the series, I would recommend to read the first book in the series to get to know the characters better and what they are trying to do. At the end of this book it left on a cliff hanger, so it made me want to get the third book in the series- Kitty Hawk, and that book is just as suspensful as the first two books in the se...more

IQ is the perfect spy book for a young reader. I found the hour by hour time line similar to the television series 24. The book is a great fast read without a dull moment in sight. This is a book I'm sure my son will enjoy. And I can't wait till the next book comes out!
John Cole
This felt more like part two of the first book, than the second book. Can't wait for book 3. I like the connection to terrorist threats, and the clear cut good v. evil. Do wish we could have done without a body count. We get too much of that on tv.
Jen
This was a fun read but didn't really have much of a resolution at the end. I know it's a trend in ya/middle reader series novels right now, but you can still leave 'em wanting more while at the same time bringing your narrative to a satisfying conclusion.
Kim
I waiting a long time for this book to come out. I an enjoyed it more than the first! Angela and Q. are back, and with the help of The President of the United States, they hope to stop a terrorist plot. Give to kids who love NCIS and Bourne movies.
Adam Goodman
This wasn't as good as the first book in the series. It was entertaining, but it was confusing. There were a lot of characters and it was difficult to keep track of all of them. It was interesting how the entire book took place in less than 24 hours. I wasn't happy that the ending left the reader hanging.
