This is the third book in the series and follows the Broadmoor extended family cousins Amanda, Sophie, and Frances (Fanny) in the Rochester, New York area during 1899-1900. It continues the account of the three young women which began in A Daughter’s Inheritance and An Unexpected Love.
When cholera forces many of the Broadmoor family members to flee to their Thousand Islands summer home early, Amanda remains behind, stricken with the disease and quarantined at the Home for the Friendless wh...more

This book lacked a good editor. Any Christian emphasis is tangential. It was okay to read on a cold day with a blanket covering you but not a book to learn anything. I did not find it particularly entertaining. While not mushy or sentimental, it was too perdictable.
Very interesting premise, not original of course, but I read the interior cover blurb and thought hmmm this might be a good read.
I was wrong, too simplistic the one character was so evil one would expect to see horns. The ending was too pat and abrupt.
Many issues were left unaddressed. I think this idea could have gone another way and been great, as it happened, this just didn't work for me.

I enjoyed this series of romantic novels about this trio of cousins who struggle with being individuals while hampered by their time in history where women are seen but not heard. Easy reading.
I completed the third book in the Broadmoor Series, hoping that there would be some redeeming qualities, because these authors are well-known and prolific. I was disappointed.
This is an easy read & the first in the series I have read. I did enjoy it & think I will read the first two in the series. A quick read, light & kept my interest.
This book, like the second in the series, was much better than the first. It was nice to finally see Fanny and Michael get together.
Rather wordy, contrived, and somewhat unbelievable. Not really what I think of when I think "Christian fiction".
lame dialogue, only one character that I cared about and wanted to see what happened, really crazy plot
Oh boy! The cheese!!!! :) The first book in this series was quite good - this last one was a bit much.
A fine conclusion to the series. I believe a happily ever after was provided for the three leading ladies. This is a Christian novel so it is a clean book but it was missing the fun. You can still have a fun book and be clean at the same time.
Good book...2011
Book 3 of 3
it was great but mostly read it to find out what happened to fanny, the girl from th first book.
If you like historical fiction and romance, but don't like all the sexuality in most novels, give the the Broadmoor Series a try. It is a great, clean read with a Godly message about forgiveness and perserverance in the midst of trouble and tribulation. It spoke to my heart!
A conclusion to the series. I thought this one was going to start off better than the first two only to find it was another slow mover. There was tension and drama but I got sick of how Victorian the characters were. Maybe this era is just not a good read for me.
a great conclusion for the series! and excellent read!
Peterson did not disappoint with this one. I finished this in 2 days. I couldn't put it down. I absolutely LOVED the whole Broadmoor Legacy. I'm sad it's over. Guess I'll have to start a new Peterson series. I haven't been let down yet.
This book was slightly disappointing. Much more intense than the books before. There were a lot of things that I cringed when I read. The other two books were much better!
I have read a couple of Tracie Peterson’s books and I have read one book by Judith Miller. I have tremendously enjoyed their books so I was looking forward to reading A Surrendered Heart. This book is the third book in The Broadmoor Legacy series. I have not read the first two books in the series, but I didn’t feel like that hindered my reading experience in the least. Having enjoyed these authors’ individual books, I knew the writing was going to be terrific, and it was. I did not particul...more
