Ever since he was a wee mite (a termite, that is), Roberto has wanted to be an architect. Discouraged by his wood-eating family and friends, he decides to follow his dream to the big, bug city. There he meets a slew of not-so-creepy, crawly characters who spark in him the courage to build a community for them all.

With stunning collage illustrations and witty text, the crea

My best friends appear to be several dogs and a two-year-old human. They are all easily pleased, easily appeased and generally easy going.

Jack, the human, has recently learned the alphabet and the numerals. His family has a pretty big library consisting primarily of science fiction, mathematics and children's literature. Jack is interested in all of it except the mathematics and will on occasion want to go over a text with me, sometimes just to identify letters, sometimes to go ...more

This is an encouraging sort of text, a follow your dreams type book. It was funny in that played with the names of real architects as they would be in some parallel bug world and it told a story that abounded with positivity and the general attitude that hard work and believing in yourself pay off. Fun little story. And the irony of a termite wanting to be an architect is hard to miss.

This book is so fun. Its about a termite who has dreamed of nothing else but becoming an architect. He wants to follow in the foot steps of famous architects before him(they change the names to sound like bugs). Everyone looks down on Roberto and his dreams but he is determined to show them all what he can do and boy does he ever.

Working at my placement today I read and had the chance to review the cute picture book, Roberto the insect Architect. What I loved most about the book was about how it encouraged young children to follow their dreams no matter how different they seemed. That any job they wanted was possible if they were kind and worked at it.

A termite that really wanted to be an Architect, but he was made fun of for wanting to be an Architect. But, he never gave his dream up and became very successful. Perfect lesson for sequencing with great pictures! Has a video you can have for your students to watch too.

My early elementary audience enjoyed this story about a termite who wants to build (rather than eat) structures. Doesn't really explain the role of an architect...as stress the moral of the story--"follow your dreams".

I honestly don't want my son to become an architect like me and go through the soul-sucking process of school and work that I went through, but this book brings out the fun parts of becoming an architect. There are some nice jokes that only people with knowledge of architecture will get. Good stuff.
