Overnight, Diana Spencer emerged from relative obscurity to become the most famous--and most photographed--woman in the world. By all appearances, her marriage to Prince Charles was a Cinderella story come to life. Everyone knows how the fairy tale ended, but few people know that Diana's debut into the House of Windsor was as carefully manipulated as her public persona--an ...more

Tamara
This book is exquisite - Anne Edwards has created a poignant, deeply touching, and well-rounded portrait of the late Princess of Wales and everyone who was important to her life.

And a highly-readable one: in one day, I went from page 19, in the morning, to page 224 before I went to bed. The edition I read had 342 pages of pure text, not counting picture pages, the bibliography, or the index, and I flew through them - until I realised what end I was actually racing towards, and then I slowed, co

First and foremost, no book about Diana, Princess of Wales gets more than three stars from me, precisely because, well, its' a biography about Diana, Princess of Wales. Three stars for me is as much as a book about a privileged princess deserves, basically. (Unless it's Tina Brown's biography of the late princess, which I gave five stars, because, well, it's Tina Brown, people.) So: I give this book the highest mark it deserves for its subject matter. Three stars, Anne Edwards, job well done! I ...more

Well written and very enjoyable. I couldn't put it down. Diana is portrayed as a real confused girl, and I hate to add but also privileged, trying to find her way and do good with her life. I take the information with a grain of salt but admire the princess more.

I'm not sure how this compares to other biographies of Diana, but I was fascinated by the history and traditions of the Royal Family. It was especially interesting to read how things changed after the Princess's death and in light of Will and Kate.

I enjoyed this. I was interested in the life of Princess Di and this book supplied that in a breezy way that didn't feel like non-fiction. I appreciated that and would totally read more from this author.

I learned so many more details surrounding Diana than I had previously known. I don't think I will ever be able to look at the older royals the same way again.

I shouldn't read books about people when I know they are going to die in the end. I cried and cried.

“The best fiction is often how we interpret our own lives and what we see as our common due. It is created usually as a means of avoiding reality which, if seriously considered, might negate our ability to strive for what might seem impossible.” 1 likes
