Beckham: Both Feet on the Ground: An Autobiography
The Last Word on David Beckham
There is only one David Beckham -- and it's not always the one you read about in the newspapers and magazines or see in the movies. From humble East End London beginnings, the boy with prodigious soccer skills grew up to be one of the most gifted athletes of his generation as well as a sex symbol and fashion icon. Along the way he married Spi

I reccomend this book that I enjoy most soccer books, as well as books that provide insight into what it is to be a professional athlete. I'm not sure that we in the US understand the scrutiny and pressure that a professional soccer player is under in Europe - aside from royalty, they don't have Hollywood stars or other professional sports stars to divert the media and public's attention. Beckham comes across as a guy who loves what he does and has worked at it to become as good as he can be. H...more

Unlike Keane's or Gerrard's, this autobiography has an agenda, reflected in the subtitle, to show that Beckham isn't some jumped-up egotistical superstar, he's a regular guy. He gets starstruck, had an awkward first date with his wife, likes to brag about his kids, works hard, deplores racism, etc. It's an understandable agenda, given the unpleasantness surrounding his exit from Man Utd. Alex Ferguson really starts to look like a jerk when you take Becks's (naturally biased) account of his depar...more
For an autobiography, this book is ok. I am not a huge fan of autobiographies because they seem to be always biased, since the story is only told from one point of view. This is the case here with David Beckham's autobiography. It is interesting to see inside what he believes occurred with the various games he played in and how an athlete thinks through the ups and downs of a season (or several seasons) as seen in from his book.
I admit it. I read it. I love all things Becks but realistically, this book was probably written, by someone else. Lots and lots of reflections on his prime years with Man U and above all, it's interesting to hear (from his perspective) how successful he thinks he was with the all England squad (something much debated). Whatever, it's Becks and it was entertaining.

I really enjoyed reading David Beckham's autobiography, and it's not just because I'm a big football fan. What I like about his life is that no matter what happens, for him, family ALWAYS comes first. I remember the chapter when Real Madrid was very keen on acquiring him from Manchester United, he said that the condition was that his kids and wife will be with him. If not, the deal is off! And, he also said that beyond all the glitz and glamor, nothing can top him going home to his family aft...more
a very well written autobiography. I don't know much about the game of soccer/football but this book is written in such a way that it didn't seem to matter much. The book is certainly not gossipy, and it kept me interested to see what happened next.
This book is a very good book. David Beckham is a very famous soccer player so when he released a book for his fans to read it was very exiting. This book tells his fans how to be a successful soccer player and how to be a good citizen. i highly recommend this book to many types of people. one of the people who i would recommend it to is people who enjoy soccer. i would also recommend this book to people who want to be inspired to succeed in life.
Entertaining story of the superstar's life up to his high-profile move to Real Madrid C.F. Good approach to his childhood, love of the game and travels, and meeting his wife.
although he comes off as a spoiled pretty boy, he really is a down to earth, sweet person. really made me love him more than i already do :)
call me crazy but someone or something told me to pick up this book. I'm aching to know more about this guy...

SEXYYYYY
If you like soccer, and Becks in particular, then you'll enjoy this. It outlines his rise in soccer, his love at first sight experience and family life with wife Victoria (Posh Spice), and his career highlights and accomplishments through his first season with Real Madrid. I like him because (other than my husband) he's the only man who I've seen repeatedly and publicly comment how important family, and being a father is to him.
This book was great to read because we got to go inside of one of the most [ if not the most ] talented player/s to kick a soccer ball. The book started from when david was in his junior league years, all the way to him playing for manchester united. It also talks about his life outside of soccer such as his parents and his wife and kids. I would advice people to read this book
I enjoyed learing about him playing during his "youth" years. He is a bit of a prima donna but a likeable guy. I wouldn't mind having him as a teammate or drinking a beer with him.
(The pictures were a nice touch, he's quite easy on the eyes.)

Regardless of how you feel about him, David Beckham is still a pretty fascinating bloke. I personally find him handsome, but that's just me. Oh, and the book is a nice little kick too. A nice flip side to the public image.
Um anyting about David is awesome. This book showed me a lot more about David than just how good he looks. It walks you though his life up till now. If you are a soccer fan its not a bad one to read!
I don't know what I thought about Beckham before I read this autobiography and I still don't know what I think about him.
His point of view, you find out alot about him that you wouldn't expect
Bland. He was too politically correct.
Great book so far!
