This is a good book for beginners, which explains the basics of chess. Good for young and old, this covers notation, standard piece movement and rules, including the pawn's ability to capture en passant. Also covered are pins, forks, and discovered attacks, and the book includes 6 classic games with commentary for the education of the reader. The book is compact enough to be carried in a backpack or jacket pocket, and is an excellent starting reference.
