This was a very funny modern fantasy that children of all ages would enjoy. What child hasn't ever wanted a pet like a dinosaur. The clever little boy isn't allowed to keep the Pterodactyl and home and from page to page, begs his teacher to let him bring it to school. This book is great for expanding childrens imaginations. It is about a boy who keeps asking his teacher if he can bring his pterodactyl to school and gives many reasons why it would be a good idea. It would be excellent for showing children how to write a persuasive piece of writing while still incorporating creativity. It uses a re-occuring phrase that the children would love to chime in with. Winning contests can bring unexpected problems. One young man finds this out when he thinks he won a pterodactyl and can’t keep it at home. He pleads with his teacher to let him bring it to school. What a fun book. I picked it up from the library because of the catchy title, and it was well-worth it. I like the clever reasons as to why a pterodactyl would be very useful in all sorts of school situations. A clever ending, too, which is hard to do well in picture books.
Cute. Fun. You'll like it.
My girls loved this, especially my youngest (4). She would ask me to read it over and over. I sometimes got tired of reading "Can I Bring My Pterodactyl to school, Ms. Johnson? Can I? Pllllease??" out loud :P
