Personally loved this book and the message it gives! It discusses the anxiety of a new place, new toys, new friends but reminds Llama that "Mama always comes back." Although it's directed towards pre-preschoolers I believe that it could also be used as a book to read to your child before he or she starts kindergarten too. The Llama, Llama books follow a very set format - something happens, the llama gets more and more frustrated, the llama throws a tantrum, and the grown-ups help fix things. Except this time he doesn't have a tantrum (he's growing up, clearly), he just starts to cry.

Llama goes to school for the first time. He finds himself really upset when his mother has to leave. Llama doesn't know what to do with all the new people and the new classroom. At first Llama doesn't want to play or do anything with anybody else. After awhile, Llama starts to relax and begins to participate and play with the other children. Such a sweet story... baby llama with his own baby llama 'teddy bear' type snuggler. It is his first day of preschool, and little llama misses his mama terribly. It is right on, as far as the ups and downs of separation, and the rhyming makes it fun for even the littlest listener. The illustrations are surprisingly perfect, in their depiction of emotion on the tiny llama face, and the clear softness is reminiscent of water color art but with a vibrancy most water colors miss.

This is adoring book to read to preschooler. To bring a story to children in head start to them interested in each other as friends. At first, mother Llama left him in the daycare, but little llama was shy to play along with other children. Until the little llama was crying to be with his mother after she left her in daycare. This book is about little Llama on his first day of school. he starts the day off being sad and missing his mama. He is shy and wont do anything, but sit and ponder and be sad. I was a little disappointed by this book, but not for a fair reason. When the librarian was handing out books at the end of story time, I thought this one would be great for us since Natalie liked Llama Llama Red Pajama and she has separation anxiety. But, it turns out this was really a going to school book. And while poor, sad llama is endearing, I was more looking for a llama freak out like in the first book that was more like Natalie. Little Llama is off to preschool for the first time. An exciting, yet upsetting event. He doesn't want to play with anyone or do anything other than go home. In time, Llama warms to his classmates and forgets all about being sad and lonely. It may be a good book to introduce a child to the idea of starting school or a new daycare. The actions of Llama's classmates also do a nice job showing empathy, something children learn by example (so all examples are welcome).

This is a book I picked up on a whim with several others at the library one day, and was so pleasantly surprised when Hinton and I read it at home. (And read it and read it. He asks for it every night.) It is about Llama Llama's first day of preschool and how he is, at first, sad and lonely. How many things rhyme with llama? A lot. Like a LOT lot. Or maybe not a lot, but enough for a whole series. In this one, Llama goes to school and (wait for it) misses mama. Unsurprisingly, he gets over his sadness and starts to enjoy being at school.

In this sweet book, perfect for the preschool child, Llama, Llama Misses Mama demonstrates that the first day of school can be traumatic for even a llama. I adore the Llama, Llama series by Anna Dewdney. The first LLama book is titled LLama, Llama Red Pajama. This book is the second in the collection and tells the story of young Llama who is preparing for and attending his first day of school. The Llama Llama books are currently Nadia's favorite. And this one, especially, is her favorite favorite. We read it every night and have done for weeks now. It's also my favorite because the first time we read it, Nadia felt so badly for little llama that she kissed him on the page when he was crying. I had hoped that this would be about Mama Llama taking a business trip. The cover suggests such an interpretation, with poor little Llama Llama staring out the window waiting for Mama to return. Llama Llama Misses Mama is a great book to read to a class. I read this book to my practicum Kindergarten class and they loved it. A lot of them have already heard the story, but they still enjoyed listening and looking at the pictures. This book is about a young llama's first day at school. It covers all the same emotions many students feel when attending school for the first time or just coming back from the summer. The book does a great job of relating to students about what it's like to have new experiences at a young age and the upside of overcoming those first day school fears.

We love all the Llama Series but this one is great because my little sister Princess Frostine was really scared about mom when she would leave her in nursery at church. Llama Llama misses mama was a wonderful way for her to know that mama always comes back. We enjoyed the pictures in this book. This one gets chosen over and over again. Actually, all the Llama llama books we have are well-loved. It is the first day of school for Llama llama and he is pretty uncertain about being in the classroom. By snack time, he breaks down and cries. But, Mama llama is soon there to pick him up. I just can't get enough of these Llama Llama books...I am giddy every time after I read one!! The playful rhyming keeps you guessing of what is going to happen next. This book is about Llam who is excited about going to preschool for the first time, until he sees that his momma has to leave and is not staying there with him. Llama begins to cry and not like preschool anymore until his classmates come to the rescue. They begin to show him that preschool is a great place and get him involved with the different activities they are doing. I am a big fan of Llama Llama books! I think this one would be perfect to read to a child before their first day of school. This one is about how baby llama has his first day of school and when his mom drops him off he doesnt want her to leave. He is afraid that she won't come back to get him. This Llama book is about going to a new school. Llama is at school and feels nervous, although his teacher is going above and beyond to make Llama comfortable, he is not biting. Llama wants his mom!
