“The ripple effect. You throw a pebble into the water and it creates ripples. Your action was to throw the pebble—the representation of your choice. That’s all that you can control. But not the ripples—those are the consequences of your choice. And that you cannot control.”

What I Loved: The furthering of the story of the community of Broken Heart OK. I am really loving how the elements are coming together and the community is really bonding together. The "wish" was probably my favorite moment in the book because it really was funny but I think great for the town.
What I Liked: Simone and Braddock had a really sweet story. I think they both felt a little bit like they didn't belong but it was fun to watch how they ended...more

When I originally picked up this book I had no idea it was part of a series. I loved the cover. The bright colors and the varieties of shiny textures all over just made me want to touch it. Besides, in this one the vampire lead is the woman. Awesome! The story itself did not disappoint either. The story takes place in a world very much like our own, only paranormals are becoming increasingly open and part of the society. (Hmmm, sounds like several other books) But this one is a bit different. In...more

In the fifth book of her Broken Heart vampire series, Michele Bardsley ups the ante by adding a much darker element to this book. While humor is still a major aspect, there is more menace in this tale. Over My Dead Body begins with a bang and keeps the action going until the last page. And keeps the reader guessing–like me– when I read the first paragraph:

This part of the Broken Heart series deals with Simone, the town mechanic. She has quite the history, coming to Broken Heart after fleeing from her husband. She meets Braddock and things get steamy. He is installing an invisible shield around the town to help protect them all. But when her past comes back to haunt her and her young daughter, Glory, she has to hope she doesn't end up even more dead than she already is.

Of this series, one of the most interesting, and yet difficult ones to read.
When you meed Braddock Hayes in book 4 of the series, "Wait Till Your Vampire Gets Home", he seems like a tough guy that no one would want anything to do with, but in this book he is suddenly a lovable guy and is sensual and sweet. It is a massive change, but not overly unbelievable.

Simone Sweet, Broken Heart's mechanic is the central figure in the fifth installment of Michele Bardsley's Broken Heart Vampires Saga. Brady Hayes is also featured as a central character. Neither Simone nor Brady can deny the attraction that is between them -- but will they let their fears of what has happened in the past stand between would could happen for them both in the future? Simone and Brady's pasts both come back to haunt them in a big way. Will they be able to overcome all the things t...more
I typically shy away from pararnormal romance since it is all about the romance bordering on erotica, which I don't mind since I am by no stretch of the imagination a prude, but I like my paranormal action on the streets not in the sheets. But this series pushes other buttons with a good story for each of the women who were bitten in the town of Broken Heart, Oklahoma and the street action that accompanies the sheet action. There's some grit to appease my requirements, humor in the dialogue, and...more
I really like this series. It is the fun light hearted side of this genre, with a whole new twist. Some of my favorite things are the whole town and it slowly becoming THE place to go if you are supernatural in any way. I like that even though you are "different" from normal people you still need the whole home base. I loved how an off hand remark was made into her wish. And what a wish it was, who wouldn't love to eat whatever and not have to worry about the calories. I also liked the interacti...more
Back in Broken Heart, Oklahoma, recent turn-blood Simone Sweet is hiding out from her past, and just wants a normal life for her and her daughter Glory, who hasn’t talked since witnessing her Mother kill her Father in self-defense. Braddock Hayes is a former ETAC operative who is also running from his past in which he did some terrible things. Now he has dedicated his life to helping out the paranormal kind and finds himself enamored of Simone and her family, despite the fact that he is a human,...more
What is the book about?

Over my Dead Body by Michele Bardsley, Broken Heart Vampire book five.
The main character's in this book are Glory and Simone. When Glory and Simone moved to Broken Heart, Oklahoma it seemed the perfect place to be. Glory's ex-husband had gone after trying to murder her daughter Simone, it was where the now mute Glory felt safe. Glory had been mute since her ex-husband attempted murdering Simone.Simone is hiding some secrets, big secrets. Simone has developed feelings for Braddock Hayes, he turns...more
Let me start off by saying that I am a huge fan of Michele Bardsley. I love the Broken Heart series, mostly because it has that little something extra that I find lacking in many paranormal romances. Now, the handsome, charming, Braddock Hayes, is described as what I would personally consider my "perfect man", however, I happened upon something that had snagged my attention. On several pages, Braddock is described as having "brown eyes", then later on, "blue eyes". There is a slight alternation...more
The fifth installment of Michele Bardsley’s paranormal romance series, Broken Heart Vampires, centers around Simone Sweet.
While still as humorous as other Broken Heart books, Over My Dead Body also has a darker tone than some of the earlier books. Simone’s past with an abusive husband clearly haunts her and so far, she’s does a fair job of keeping herself secluded from everyone in Broken Heart.
But how long can she deny her growing attraction to the sexy, mysterious Brad Hayes?

This is a rather silly paranormal romance/contemporary urban fantasy series, but I still enjoy it. The author seems to thing more is better, so she throws everything she can imagine into her story lines. This means that she spends a lot of time bringing you up to speed on the convoluted plotlines in previous books, and doesn't leave a whole lot of room for real character development. I find it entertaining, though. I like that she surprises me every time with a new magical creature or techno gad...more
"Over My Dead Body" is book five from Michele Bardsley's hilarious 'Broken Heart Vampires' contemporary series about a small city in Oklahoma that becomes a protected haven for 'good guy' vampires. In the first book, several citizens are bitten by accident and those are the ones allowed to stay...the others are paid and 'enchanted' to leave to live successful lives elsewhere. So basically, we have here an entire city of otherworldly creatures...but many of them were just plain, ordinary people a...more
This was another good story in this series “Broken Heart, Oklahoma”.
Simone Sweet is the local mechanic and a turn- blood and she falls for a human, Brady Hayes. Simone’s daughter goes missing as do a couple of other people and there are a couple of murders. It was just a really good story.
This series has fun vampire stories, not too gruesome and they are refreshingly different than others. I like Michele’s take on vampires and lycans. I think they are getting better as well.
Enjoy!

Simone’s and Brady’s past come back to haunt them with a vengeance, making for a fascinating story. Add in some colorful new characters like the pixie Flet, 70 year old Vamp George (who wants to start a nudist colony for older vamps), and Lycan Renier, toss in the old faithfuls like Lycan triplets Damien, Darrius, and Drake, and you’ve got yourself a great, fast-paced story, with plenty of action and a dash of mystery. I am a sucker for a fab title. The story sold me and I will keep reading the...more
In this fifth installment of the Broken Heart Vampires there is another threat to Broken Heart and this time it focuses on Simone Sweet. Simone gets herself into a mess and nice, handsome Brady helps her get out of it. This was a really quick read with all of Bardsley's humor and fun coming through. The books in this series could all stand alone, so just pick one up. They are a great way to enjoy a few hours.
I started out giving this book two stars is because I really am not a vampire story lover. But as I was thinking about the book as a whole, I did decide that I liked it. The writing was really good, the characters fabulous, and the plot was fantastic. It was edgy enough where I almost didn't finish it. I highly recommend this book to anyone who isn't creeped out by vampires.

It seems I am good at skipping around when it comes to series. I am just really glad that this one I am able to do that with!!!
I enjoyed this book, didn't put it down once I began reading ... Now I cannot wait to hear the tales of those others how reside in this versions town of Broken Heart, OK. (have to give her credit for using a town in OK as the location)

Simone the local vampire mechanic, always distant and aloof from the groupies in the compound finds herself attracted to bad boy human Braddock. His hard as nails persona takes a nose dive as he becomes Mr. Softy around Simone and her daughter. Wait I know it sounds so "ahhhh.." well it's not. There are big secrets each of them are hiding, and someone else too and they are dangerous ones. You fellow reader and I know secrets always come back and bite hard. Some folks will lose their lives. Simone Sweet is the town mechanic in Broken Heart, and she doesn't want a man. Been there, done that, although we sense this isn't the whole story. This book kept me reading but the plot seemed a little forced to me. Soem of her other books seem to flow much easier, but this one kept me turning the pages.
This is a series I wish I'd just discovered so I could read them all straight through. All the couples from previous books continue to appear in subsequent ones, and if it's been a while since you read the last one, it can get confusing.

Nationally bestselling author Michele Bardsley spends her days creating fictional worlds because, let's face it, reality sucks. A prime example is that no one has yet to figure out how to make calorie-free chocolate. What's up with that? She received an associates degree in liberal arts, which was no help whatsoever for becoming a novelist or a decent housekeeper. She lives in Oklahoma with her so...more

“You look beautiful in this dress."
"And yet you're trying to take it off."
"You know that look that Jessica gets when she unwraps one of her truffles?" he asked.
"Like she fell into a pool of chocolate with Keanu Reeves and Hugh Jackman swimming toward her?"
He looked at me, his lips quirking. "Have that fantasy often?"
Heh. Who, me?
"Nope. Why would I, when I have you?"
"Nice recovery.”
