Sabetha?!

...Wait. Wait, you mean we actually get to meet Sabetha?

Well, Jesus. I've been wanting to meet this 'Sabetha' character forever. If she's the reason Locke is both obsessed with and wary of red-heads, I want to know who the heck this chick is. If saying 'What would Sabetha think of you, right now?' can shock Locke out of a depressed stupor, I want to know why. If he swoons upon thought of her, grimaces upon hearing her name, and gets defensive upon mention of his feelings towards her...w...more

An unedited preview of the first 5500 words of the Republic of Thieves can be read here. Publication has also been pushed back to September, 2013.

I'm sorry all you gentlemen bastards, but now we wait.

UPDATE on May 15th:

Now that we're all happy about the release date: is anyone else as unhappy as me with the cover art that Spectra stole from Gollancz? I really preffered the former artwork, which fit the first two covers way better! It's so pretty with Sabetha on it holding a mask *swoons*

Just received the catalogue from the publishers I review for, and the book was available for December 2011 selection!

Since then of course, it has been moved to a February 2012 release.

ETA 13th Jan 2012: Gollancz Blog has just announced that the new release date is October 2012.

ETA 25th June 2012: I review for Gollancz, and it wasn't in our October catalogue for review selection, so not sure if that means it's been delayed again or not...

ETA 1st September 2012: No known date of publication, acco...more

WHAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!! Crooked Warden has answered my prayers and this will be out just before my birthday!

10/25/12 EDIT: According to the Amazon Gods, 2014 is the latest call, which is better than "we don't think it'll ever come".

If the world ends 12/21/12 I'm gonna be pissed

THoT

10/13/12 EDIT: I've noticed that Amazon shares my feelings in that it's hard to believe at this point this book will ever come out.

The sad things is that even if we get the read this book (maybe in 2013), which I am sure will be fabulous, we then have to wait for the next book and with the knowledge that the author has certain problems that might see the next book published many, many (I am tempted to put quite a few more many's behind the last) years into the future, perhaps as late as 2019. It almost makes you think if it isn't better to leave the books of Scott Lynch (I almost accidentally wrote scott lunch, haha, I know...more

I'm warning you right now that there are spoilers here, and putting those little spoiler tags everywhere is to much work, so if you haven't read Red seas under red skies yet, back away slowly, then turn tail and run in a zigzag formation. It might confuse the spoilers

When Jean is talking to a Azura Gallardine about a certain Requin and his vault, she mentions that he executed "...the most perfectly hideous physical torture I have ever heard of in all my long years...he's become an artist of crue...more

SABETHA!!! I actually like the Bondsmagi! I hope Locke, Jean and Sabetha actually get into a party together with a Bondsmagi. I hope Scott Lynch makes a jump from problem-land to a land of endless bliss!

Thought his first two books were brilliant. I guess I am like many others waiting for this. Haven't quite given up yet, hopefully 2013 sometime.

I wish I knew what the author thought of his publishers now, after so many years of publishing delays.

Sure it'll be worth the wait though.

The highly anticipated third book in one of the few adult series I've read in the last 5 years. It's due to be released in March 2009. Just can't wait to see what the Gentlemen Bastards are up to...it's sure to involve lots of crazy plans to steal from the filthy rich and get caught up with some really nasty bad guys.

Just placed my pre-order for the hardcover edition and am so thrilled! Lucky for me I have plenty else to read in the meantime, like The Republic of Thieves preview (http://www.scottlynch.us/excerpts.html) 100 more times, and when I get bored of that, Book 1 and Book 2 several more times each.
