When I started reading this book, I though it would be about an average teenager not a crazy artist. Yes, Cathy's a teenager , but she's crazy, I think that's what I like most about her.
My favorite part of this book is when Cathy broke into a certain someones house, and almost got caught by the Police! It was a very interesting event.
My favorite character is Emma. She is a perfectionist and when one thing goes wrong she convinces hers More...

This book was positively ingenious. Strong words, I know, for a fairly simplistic plot, although the true complexity lies within the subtlety of the words and the often ironic humour present throughout the book's entirety. I could continue to ladle my review with my countless and somewhat infinite appraisal of Sean Stewart and this book, however, I do want you all to actually read this review so I will reduce a selection of my positive comments down to an easy-to-read list:

Cathy Vickers has had a tough year. Her dad passed away unexpectedly and her mom is always working weird shifts at the hospital. She's not doing great in school, but she did meet a nice guy, Victor, a Chinese-American man who, okay, might be a little too old for Cathy. But things were fine until Victor dumped her, and she woke up with a weird mark on her arm. Since he won't talk to her, Cathy has launched an investigation. Suddenly she's in over her head in the part of Chinatown you don't visit

Okay, despite that this book is very "girly", even in some ways I don't entirely like, AND despite that there's some "sneaky" advertising in there (I guess I don't get as bent out of shape about advertising as other people) this book was just motherfucking fun. Okay? I opened the hard cover and an envelope full of "evidence" was inside. I opened it. It had things like a torn up picture with a phone number, business cards, fliers, Cathy's comic strips, death certific

Wow there is a lot that I can say about this book!
As usual this book caught my attention with it's vintage effect cover.
And it also caught my attention because of the fact that it was a journal.
Well let me tell you a little bit about this book.
This book is set up in a journal like way.
It's a story about a girl who fell for this guy and one day he just disappears on her without an explanation, after getting a blood sample from her arm.

Many novels have been written in the form of journals or letters. Cathy's Book updates that idea by including the transcripts of online chats, messages and drawings in the sidebars and other features.

Cathy has a wild imagination and a keen eye for detail. Her best friend, Emma, is the logical one and Cathy's the artist of impossible dreams. Cathy's world is falling apart: her boyfriend broke up with her, insomnia has overtaken her nights, school is a chore that only Emma can love, her Mom works too hard to pay the bills, and maybe--just maybe!--her paranoid delusions about Victor aren't as delusional as she thought...

Cathy’s Book is an interactive book about a teenage artist whose boyfriend suddenly dumps her. Understandably, she is upset and confused, not to mention freaked out when she notices a needle mark on her arm after their last date. She tries to figure out what happened, and manages to get caught up in a dangerous mystery that takes unexpected turns.

At first, the only reason I really picked up this book is because of two things:
1. The pictures. :D
2. The fact that it was a journal.
The main character Cathy, had a thing with this guy Victor. When it ends, horribly, she wants revenge, or basically just wants to find out more about HIM. She ends up finding out more than she wanted to.
My favorite quote from this book, the most foreshadowing thing was:

Cathy’s Book was something that took me by surprise. It was a mixture of many things wrapped up into one—there was fantasy, contemporary, sass, snark, humor, and many other things that escape my mind for now.
Right off the bat I noticed how this book focuses on the friendship. Emma and Cathy have a tight bond that definitely shows throughout the book. Cathy always tells Emma everything, whether it may be the bad, the good, or the don’t-hate-me-because-I’m-stupid phrases. You can also More...

"Cathy's Book" is a novel by Jordan Weisman designed especially for the teenage audience. This book was more of a journal/diary, depicting the life of a young girl. With hand-drawn pictures, pages full of scribbles, and a first person view of Cathy's life, this novel is pretty interesting, but not entirely.
I began reading "Cathy's Book" with enthusiasm, but ended it with complete regret; I had spent an entire weekend finishing a novel that I know i would never have More...

This book is unusual, to say the least. It's composed of journal entries, IM sessions, drawings, photographs, and clippings, all of which relate to the mystery facing Cathy Vickers, our main character. Cathy is an independent spirit, an artist, and sometimes a meddler. She gets herself into more than her share of scrapes through her excessive curiosity, but without it we'd have a very dull story! The uniqueness of the book, with its doodles and IM-speak, is its real strength, and should app

First, I loved the artwork and the creativity. But, the plot didn't really grip me and want me to keep reading. It reminded me a little of Twilight??? I am unsure if I will pick up the second book... but the artwork is awesome.

I really really like the whole doodle journal thing in books, and this one was really creative. The working phone numbers and websites was a huge plus also. I got into it real quick. I had actually heard a lot about this novel and I really wanted to read it, but I could never find a copy of it anywhere. The bookstores in my city were all sold out and the libraries had huge hold request lines. I finally tracked it down online and was so excited I could hardly wait til it came in.

this almost started out as a two star book, but as i got further into the novel and something about one of the characters was revealed i immediatly disliked it. It's just a typical teenage book that is really dissapointing. i may have liked this book, once upon a time, but the more i read these stupid teenage/modern books the more i dislike the useless, uninteresting content as well as the lack of thought provoking ideas... where oh where have all the good stories gone?

This mystery book is truly a unique one. It centers around the main character, Cathy, who after a break up with her boyfriend, she thinks there is more to the story and investigates exactly what is going on. The reader is invited to solve the mystery with Cathy by calling real phone numbers with set up voicemails, going to real websites and deciphering notes. Although at times it has weak writing and some grammatical problems, I was just amazed at the reader engagment and have seen nothing

This book is very creative, not necessarily the story (which is entertaining) but in the format. It's a journal, with drawings, and added evidence that Cathy collects as she investigates the mystery. I like Cathy's character, who despite all her attempts to be otherwise, is a good person. I like Emma and her goal to go to MIT and that despite everything, that is still her goal and she is working on making it happen. I'm not convinced by Victor, he seems to good to be true. But I did enjoy r

This was a lot better than I expected it to be! When this book was first published, it was a novelty with all the moving parts to help figure out the mystery of the story but I received the newly published paperback which can be put on a library shelf and I think it was pretty well done. It's supposed to look like a high school girl's notebook or journal with lots of doodling in the margins but I have to say it's a well-written story. It's not one that's a truly memorable story but it's a good m

I really like this book because you can look into all the doodles and it is so detailed in pictures and words that it makes you dig deeper in all of it. I love this book because it is told in the point of view of Cathy and some of the things that she goes to I can relate with. It is a very unusual book and it is one of those series that once you read the first one, you have to read the second.

So far, I really like this book it is about a girl named Cathy. Her best friend is Emma and her boyfriend who just broke up with her name Victor. He broke up with Cathy but never told her why so she went to his house that was supposed to be for his "uncle" wanting to know why. When she reached there the door was unlocked but no one would answer. As she called his name she heard foot steps going out the back door, she thought it was Victor running away from her so she went to the fridge
