Oh no…the Maximum Ride books have officially turned "eco-friendly". What happened to all the crazy mad scientist stuff? "Millions of fish are dying off the coast of Hawaii and someone--or something--is destroying hundreds of ships. Unable to discover the cause, the government..." I read that in the description of this book on some website…Hmm, first it goes global warming––save the polar bears! Now…its saving fish……Anyone else miss the Erasers? I want the whole flock-running...more
Okay, I officially spent two hours of my life reading the fifth Maximum Ride installment. I was very disappointed by the fourth one in particular, and a little bit so by the third. So, I sat down with MAX with no expectations whatsoever, because I wasn't going to allow myself to be disappointed by it. That was a good idea, because it wasn't all that good. Was it horrible? No ... But it wasn't great. It was better than the fourth, but -- of course -- it was nowhere near being as good as the first...more
i do not think it will be as good as the first three, the fourth was a let down. i personally like max better when shes on the run and kicking eraser/flyboy butt rather than saving the world
James Patterson is an excellent author but I feel like the momentum in this series is slowly down or getting old for me. There was better closure in this series. Yet I felt it lacked the buildup in excitement. Some of it lacked believability even for para normal. It is for YA so maybe they by it more, somehow I doubt it.

This was the BEST of the maximum Ride books! I loved it! It wasn't at all repetitive and it wasn't anything like the 4th one! There was adventure, romance, suspense, humor, sarcasm, and it was well wrapped up but lest you hanging. BEST MR BOOK EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I read it 2 times in 2 days and i am SOOOO excited to be reading it again. Fang, Total, Max, Angel, Gazzy, Iggy, and Nudge were AMAZING! READ IT!
I am sure that I might throw this at the wall while in the process of reading . . . Machine Geeks? Come on, Patterson, the Erasers were cooler than that. At least they actually FIGHT something in this one . . . I hope there will be some fang+max stuff . . . save the fish! not really though . . . it looks so gay . . . what happened to itex? i don't think they resolved everything of that matter in the first 3 books . . . i want some good stuff here! okay now i am just venting about how sucky they ...more

The 5th book was not as good as the first 3.(and the 4TH was better than this one!)It was was better than most books I have read but compared to the 1st 4 it was boring.
So I hope the 6th is better than the rest!

Another thrilling tale in the adventures of Maximum Ride as she and the flock try to save the world...again. This time Max and the flock are working with the Coalition to Stop the Madness (CSM) to try to educate people about the damage carbon fuels are doing to the world. Turns out there are some big wig business men who aren't to happy with the work of the CSM and they kidnap Max's mom to try to get her to stop. But if you know Max then you know that won't stop her! She gathers the flock to...more

Maximum Ride = Marvelous Reading
As leader of her Flock, Max is tough and resilient. This bird girl does not give up on her mission to save the world and protect her Flock. She does it all with flair and a sarcastic edge. Despite endless betrayals and growing up in a lab, Max shows that she can have a soft side too.
The members of Max’s Flock are tight and they each have unique talents. Fang can disappear if he sits still long enough. Iggy sees everything in white. Nudge is magnetic. The Gasman is...more

This newest entry in the Maximum Ride series was fine. It had a lot of action, which is what I think James Patterson is talking about when he calls it a "pageturner." He's not overly concerned with plot, as the events of the story are basically the same as all the rest of the books--Max and the flock do some stuff, get chased, fight some new genetically enhanced enemies, and blow stuff up. And Max and Fang mope about each other. And then kiss.

Max is special. So is her family. Fang, Iggy, Nudge, Gazzy, and Angel. They aren't related, they aren't even completely human. In fact, only 98% of them is. The other 2%... makes them very different. It gives them strange abilities. Like the ability to... fly. Yes, Max and the flock are winged children. And they've done amazing things. Shut down a company trying to reduce the world's population... by one half, publicized global warming and pollution, and now Max's mother, Dr. Valencia Martinez h...more

So far this is my favorite book in this series! Max’s mother gets kidnapped and is being held on a submarine in the Pacific Ocean. The entire flock flies to a naval base in Hawaii to help get her back. The only way that the navy will allow the flock on a submarine to save Dr. Martinez is to go through basic training.
Training with the navy in Hawaii was absolutely hilarious. The fact that Iggy and Gazzy referred to the training BS? Great! ...more

After The Final Warning, I was really concerned for the Maximum Ride series. So concerned that I was pretty surprised when I saw that a new book was coming out in the series. However, Patterson pleasantly surprised me with the fifth book in the Maximum Ride series, Max. Instead of being preached at or being walked through some cliche story, I was treated to a fresh new adventure that breathed new life into the series.

Okay, I have moved on and am reading the 5th installment of.... wait for it.... The maximum Ride series, called Max. I want to say so many things about this book but there's oh-so little time. Tsk tsk, I'll just have to do my best. First off Max and the flock are in the middle of a new adventure. Mission: Save Max's mom who has been kidnapped. Figure out what exactly is going on between her( Max) and Fang. And try not to freak out and have a panic attack while on a submarine under water, which i...more
Ugh no offence to Maximum Ride lovers, but this seires is kind of getting old.
A typical sentance:
I'm so kick-butt... yet I don't feel kick-butt... I HATE that red headed girl. I can't believe I'm feeling insecure, I mean I am the leader. Ugh, stupid evil scientists, getting old. Dummies (I wish I could say something worse but that will probably get edited out. Ari and Jeb walked in, I hate that evil trio.
Notice how the language will remind you of that of "int...more

MAX by James Patterson is a book that has to do with six unnatural kids and one dog. Their names are Max, Iggy, Fang, Nudge, Gasman, Angel, and Total. The reason why these kids and dog are unique is because they have avian or bird DNA. They have this DNA in their bodies because these evil scientists have gotten hold of kids whose parents did not want them. Max is the leader of the flock and the only reason why is because she can take the heat better than the rest. Iggy is blind because the sci...more
What's more exciting than having wings that could fly you anywhere you wanted? I can think of a few but not much can compare against having awesome wings, which is why reading this book is great because you see what it is like to have huge wings and soar high in the sky as well as feeling the adventures of mastermind criminals, relive moments of saving the world and being amazingly strong; it definitely comes in handy when kicking metal butt. Although this book is already the fifth installment o...more
Max By: James Patterson is the 5th book in t he Maximum Ride series. In this book, the flock has changed there winter coats for T-shirts, in Las Angles, doing there new air show to raise money for the effort to get rid of global warming. But when one show goes terribly wrong, they must now find a new way to help. In this book the flock Max, Fang, Iggy, Nudge, The gassman, and angel get themselves in all sorts of adventures, including getting on a submarine, fighting robots, and almost getti...more
It's not like I expected much from this; the only reason I read it was because it was just sitting there at the library, and I had a couple of hours to kill.
The flock really isn't doing anything anymore, and they've really devolved from fairly badass characters into mushy, cliched, idiotic teenagers. Come on, Patterson! If I can have some sort of coherent thought process, can't MAX!?

Maximum Ride is back! I loved the first two books in the series. Maximum Ride has her usual down-to-earth/sarcastic self. Max and the rest of the flock are performing air shows to promote the CSM's global warning awareness, then a sniper attacks them. Max's mom is soon taken hostage. Fish are dying en mass along the Pacific Ocean off the coast of Hawaii. The Government thinks that Max's mom's kidnapping might be related and they work with the government to rescue the world from evil corporation...more

“He could totally be your boyfriend," [Angel] went on with annoying persistance. "You guys could get married. I could be like a junior bridesmaid. Total could be your flower dog."
"I'm only a kid!" I shrieked. "I can't get married!"
"You could in New Hampshire."
My mouth dropped open. How does she know this stuff? "Forget it! No one's getting married!" I hissed. "Not in New Hampshire or anywhere else! Not in a box, not with a fox! Now go to sleep, before I kill you!”
