Ja. Fertig. Mit dem Buch. Und vielen Dingen.
Be-merkenswert: Seite 224 ff. Deutschland und das Ausland. Das Ausland in Deutschland. Viel Wahres. Vielleicht die besten Seiten des Buches. Oder nein halt, mein Favorit ist der Ossi (!) der keine Auskunft gibt weil er ja nichts zu sagen hat. Recht hat er.
Alles in allem, lesenswert für Menschen mit Vorkenntnissen.

got halfway through. I dislike it. Kept waiting for the black humour sarcasm to end, its not funny. When writing a travel memoir, you need more than JUST negativity. It was exahusting to read, and gave me a headache.

Ein gutes Buch zur vermutlich exakt falschen Zeit gelesen. Roger Willemsens Eindrücke von Deutschland entstanden 2001 und 2002, wenn man das dann 2017 liest, ist man gleichzeitig noch zu nah, aber auch schon wieder zu weit weg, es ist irgendwie nicht mehr ganz das Deutschland von heute, aber auch keines, auf das man mit nostalgischem Interesse zurückblicken könnte. Irgendwann in 30 oder 50 Jahren wird das genau das Buch sein, das ich mit Begeisterung lesen werde, zusammenhanglose Versatzstücke, ...more

Shelves: travel, german, novel
Like the language, especially the broad range of German vocabulary, which is used throughout this book. Collection of strange, amusing, serious stories, which Willemsen experiences on trips through Germany. Mostly by train.

I guess you have to be german or live in germany in order to understand the full meaning of this book.

Roger Willemsen was a German author, journalist, TV presenter, and public intellectual.

He studied German philology (Germanistik), philosophy and history of art in Bonn, Munich and Vienna and was awarded a scholarship by the Evangelisches Studienwerk. He did his postgraduate studies on Robert Musil and received his PhD.
