Fans of hot romantic suspense
Loved it! I'm doing a happy dance here, because I'm already anticipating the next book in the 'Troubleshooters' series. Ms. Brockmann left a couple of storylines wide open in this one, but said in her author's notes that she will be following up on those couples who haven't gotten their HEAs in this one. I guess maybe they haven't suffered enough yet, but that's okay because one of the couples is Izzy (who used to irritate me) and Eden, and the other is Eden's brother Dan (Gillman) and brand ...more

Short Review: Hot Pursuit t is the latest book in the Troubleshooter series. For me that was enough to go out and buy the book. What? That’s not enough for you? OK then, read the long review.
Long Review: I’ve made no secret of the fact that I’m a huge fan of Suzanne Brockmann’s romantic suspense books, particularly her Troubleshooter Series. I will also say that while I eagerly await each new book in the series (I purchase the hard covers), I read each book with extremely hi...more

Finishing this book was kind of a milestone because it signifies the fact that I've caught up with the Troubleshooters series. The exception to this is I haven't yet read “Into the Night,” because the local library doesn't carry it and I don't normally buy books when I'm just going to read and pass on (though I should probably suck it up and buy this one since I could definitely read this series again). I'm currently waiting to receive the book on interlibrary loan, but it'll be more like a ...more

Alyssa Locke-Starrett thinks that she is doing a favor to a friend by taking a team of Troubleshooters on a relatively easy assignment to teach safety tips to a newly elected assemblywoman in NYC who has received a few eerie death threats. The team of SEALs that accompany her (including her husband Sam) are not expecting to be thrown into the hunt for a serial killer who leaves a grisly gift for Alyssa in the assemblywoman's office. Alyssa's former partner Jules and his newlywed partner, Robin...more

This one was kind of a disappointment. Maybe I had high expectations—the previous book totally blew me away, most of the best series regulars were to be in this one—but this one just was not as good. It was still a really enjoyable read, but not one of the better Troubleshooters books.
The problems were these: I think the book would have benefited from a tighter edit. The ebook had a bunch of typos, first of all, but there's also a lot of redundant information. In the first half ...more

I really had resigned myself to not liking this book. There have been so many negative reviews and longtime Brockmann fans have criticized it (and her), especially after she didn't write the Dark of Night (Dave/Sophia/Decker) storyline/romance the way people expected. And while I have loved all of the Troubleshooters book, I am a romance fan first and foremost, and her books are high on intensity and suspense and sometimes lacking in romance. This one was no different. In fact, aside from a ...more

Alyssa Locke, former FBI agent and former Naval officer, is team leader for the nation's leading personal security company, Troubleshooters, Inc. Her husband is former SEAL Sam Starrett.
Her current assignment should be no trouble, teaching Maria Bonavita about self defense. Maria has just been elected to the New York congress and asked for a course in public safety. Sam Starrett and his SEAL friends will travel to New York to provide it.

Ms. Brockmann--
The problem with your books is that you've set the bar so high. I expect your books to be an intense romance between two interesting and very well-developed characters while they are engaged in something thrilling, maybe with some secondary romance or peaks into past or future relationships. That is what I want out of your books. It's why I've read some of them over and over and over. It's what I expect out of you.

Suzanne Brockmann always writes fantastic characters, and I love her dialogue because it sounds exactly like people actually talking. Her last few books have been really pushing the bar higher for excellent fiction. Perhaps that is why this book fell a little flat for me. It was still a great book, but not quite up to her normal standards.

Man, mere words cannot express how much I love the inhabitants of Brockmann's Troubleshooters and their world. I only discovered them a year ago, and I have never inhaled books like I did that first dozen or so. I have, in fact, re-read several of them a half-dozen times.

I'm a bit mixed up about how to rate this book. I liked it, and it definitely went part-way towards restoring my faith in Suzanne Brockmann's writing, but at the same time, I was disappointed. I've had very mixed feelings about Suz's last few books, and this one was no different. Hot Pursuit was a quick, enjoyable read, and did, at times, remind me why I'm still a complete fangirl for SB's writing, I wasn't completely satisfied. While the last 3-4 books in the series have seemed completely d...more

I am a huge fan Suzanne Brockmann's work. Anticipating a new novel of hers is like preparing to revisit old friends. This novel was no exception. Sam and Alyssa are back and we know from the beginning that someone very evil has targetted Alyssa, thus beginning the suspense that exists throughout the book. Other characters featured are Dan Gillman and new character, statuesque and funny Jennilyn. Jules, Robin, Izzy, Lopez and others are also on hand. I enjoyed the story and the characters and I a...more

I always like Suz Brockmann's books: she's a great storyteller who creates characters with depth, mysteries that need solving, and excellent rising and falling action. This one was no exception. I especially think she did a good job keeping the identity of "The Dentist" a well-hidden secret even while including the character in the public storyline.
As a romance, though (which maybe this one wasn't intended to be as much as the first 14 books of the series), this one fell a...more

I Love Izzy, Jules, and Robin and if they had not been in this book as much as they were I may not have finished it. I like Starrett and Alyssa Locke Starrett. But another book where they are front and center seemed a little much in a series with so many TS and Seals to choose from. I was hoping that the sub-plot would be the continuation of Izzy and Eden. No I get Eden's jerk brother Gillman and his 2 week affair with " a chunky girl"(his words not mine). The cover was Slightly mislea...more

Brockmann comes through again in this follow-up to an Alyssa Locke/Sam Starrett short story. Remember The Dentist? He's got Alyssa in his sights and goes to a fairly elaborate length to get her in his clutches. But this is Alyssa Locke, not some shmoe, and she isn't interested in his little games. In fact, she thinks it's past time she took him down. Jules and Robin and a random selection of Troubleshooters and Seal Team 16 are on hand. Though Alyssa and Sam are the main focus, we still get nice...more

This was a great book. I loved the character development of all the old standbys and enjoyed meeting a couple of new characters. The mystery was good. I like the way this author keeps the tension going at the same time as following/leading all the characters through their plot lines.
I know some reviewers were unhappy that there was no resolution on some of the romance threads but that was good for me. I hate a series where its a formula...have a little action, create a love story betwee...more

Despite the fact that I'm giving it the same star rating as #13 and #14, this one is better. (It's just not as good as "All Through the Night" at 4 stars.) Brockmann returns to characters I know and love (Jules! Izzy! Sam!) and a comparatively straight-forward plot. I don't know if Psycho POV was strictly necessary but I'll give it to her.
Brockmann explains in an author's note that she will be taking a break from Troubleshooters after #16 comes out. I think the break wil...more

I loved this book. I loved revisiting Sam and Alyssa after all this time.
I especially appreciated, on a personal level, reading about Alyssa trying to juggle breastfeeding and her job. That struck home for me.
I also like how there were lots of probable suspects for the big bad guy. I figured it out, but there were definitely other possibilities.
I also love the non-resolution of the Jen/Danny relationship. That struck me as true to life. And it makes me look f...more

3 and half, maybe, mostly because I really mostly hate serial killer books. I mean I know they're out there and all, but they bore me silly. Didn't like the serial killer, but I did rather like the romances and potentials growing around, and none of them are even resolved. Heroine (oh what's her name) is a political adviser, hero a seal on vacation helping out some friends for a quick buck, he guards her, seduces her, she lets him, sexy, sweet and with some really live difficult in there.
