Today’s post is on Samurai Deeper Kyo Volume 7 by Akimine Kamijyo. As it is the seventh in the series you need to have read the previous volumes in order to understand the plot. The cover has Kyo and Sasuke fighting and looking cool on the cover. There is language, some sexuality, and lots of violence. Older teen and adults are the intended readers for this manga. The story is told from third person god point of view with character’s thoughts added from time to time for character growth and plot ...more
Kyo is a pretty badass character and in this book, he becomes even more badass! Sasuke agrees to be Kyo and Yuya's guide (with Yukimura's encouragement) in the forest, but they don't get very far. As this battle is going on, Benitora and Ajira have a small skirmish and they learn the ...more

I seem to have lost my reading mojo. With as much action that is in Samurai Deeper Kyo, Volume 07, I feel like I should have enjoyed it a lot more than I did. It wasn't terrible, but even with all the fighting going on, nothing seems to be happening. I didn't perk up with interest until the very end of the book when Yukimura makes an appearance.

There's a lot of meaningless killing, innit?
We get to witness a whole bunch of fights in this volume, but effectually nothing really happens besides Yuya getting kidnapped by the bad guys. Apparently they did it to keep Kyo in line, but if they actually think he'll stop then they're crazy. Kyo will get his body back eventually, and then he'll be even more powerful than he already is.
