I'm importing a lot of these reviews from my blog, so these are from the point at which I read these books. This was the first Gossip Girl book I read, and I went on to read the first book within a week of reading this one, so I must have liked it more than it sounds here:

This book wasn't very good, but I still read it in pretty much one sitting. The most surprising thing about it wasn't the sex (a lot of sex was alluded to, but no one actually had any) but how much the characters smoked. They a

Things I liked:
-book 9 and beyond tell you about the summer after there senior year so I think this series *could* end right before they are all freshmen in college.
Cecily could've ended this awesome series after our favorite upper east siders graduated from Contance Billard but she didn't, she's keeping this story going and that makes me really happy!

-The interesting storylines!
Serena becomes an actress in a movie and Blair gets a job on the set working for Bailey Winter who is one of the mos

The name of this book is called Only in your dreams by Cecily von Ziegesar. Of course as part of the gossip girl series it has a lot of drama and its very intense with much gossip around with everyone in the book. Its the summer before they all head off to college and its a very sizzling one because Blair goes to London with her boyfriend Lord Marcus. He of course is very high in his power and in where he lives in. Chuck is a bit jealous of their relationship. Nate goes back to the Hamptons. The ...more

I felt like very little happened in this book. I also found some continuity errors and typos.

One of the things that annoys me about Serena, Nate, and Blair is that they sometimes seem so dissociative and vapid in their thinking...like thinking is just soooo hard and they can't quite wrap their brains around something obvious. They feel annoyed, confused, or unsettled, but because they don't like the unpleasant feeling, their brains circumvent thoughts that would lead to that feeling.

I just pictu

The ninth book in the Gossip Girl series creatively written by the ever-catty Cecily von Ziegescar, Only In Your Dreams, is the eight book I’ve read in the year 2013.

Have you ever tried reading a book where in the first fifty pages were just plain boring and you almost gave up reading the whole thing and then you realized it’s the last page? Well, this book is certainly entertaining. In the begi

What do I REALLY think of this book? Let me spell it for you: B-O-R-I-N-G! At least Nate finally got over his crying spurts. Actually, this book makes it feel like that never even happened. But anyways, let me just break down the repetitive storyline for you: Serena attempts to be an actress and falls for her co-star, Thad (surpirse, surprise). Vanessa and Dan are on the mend and then break up again after Vanessa finds Dan with another girl (surprise, surprise). Blaire looses that Lord guy, fall ...more

Everything about these books is starting to get redundant. The characters, the settings, parties, situations are all the same. There is no time in between the books so we pick up right where we left off but everything is rehashed and nothing changes by the end of the book except how close the characters are to college.

I really dislike this one!
I can't see why showing us the misbehaviour of spoiled teenagers is interesting. If it was there to serve a plot, it would be OK. But talking about it just for the pleasure of talking about it seems just silly to me!

This is by far my least favorite book in the entire series. It's the culmination of many ridiculous story lines (even for this series) with Serena's starring role in a major motion picture, Blair's tryst with a British Lord, and the boring repercussions of Nate stealing his lax coach's Viagra.

My Original Post

Warning: SPOILERS!

Hello Dear Readers! And Happy Lazy Sunday!

I'm at Scruff's this weekend but I thought I would break up the monotony of my weekend with one of the book reviews I promised you in this post. As most of you know, I was a huge fan of the Gossip Girl television series and I had been wanting to read the books. Well, I finally got a hold of them and started reading them at the end of January. I finished up book 11 recently and am finally ready to write out the review.

Heart-aching-teen-throbbing-moviestar fans are not to be messed with. We know what we want- cliche breakups, Big City drama, drugs, sex.. The whole 20 yards that the star quaterback on the football team would throw just to see the hot girl with no sense of reality, cheer him on. All of that, with a dramatic twist. But, don't forget the cherry on top of that sundae.
Cecily Von Ziegesar delivers all that gossip in "Only in your dreams," (The #1 New York Times Bestselling Series, $9.99). From the

Audrey Hepburn never had to deal with this sort of crap. No, but then again, Audrey Hepburn's ass was kind of flat. But at least she could act.

Am I the only one annoyed by the fact that these characters never have any kind of growth or development? They never learn from their missteps, instead making the same mistakes time and time again. Did Dan and Vanessa honestly think it was a good idea to move in toge

Summer is here and things are heating up for our recent high school graduates in the ninth book of the pop culture phenomenon that is Gossip Girl. Sadly, Only In Your Dreams is the first of the series to be written by a ghost writer instead of Cecily von Ziegesar and it definitely shows.

But the ghost writer does capture Cecily’s series in a way the mimics her style perfectly. While it isn’t the best of the series, it is still juicy and stylish in the way that only Gossip Girl can be.

Only in Your Dreams takes place during the last summer before the gang heads off to college. Blair is across the Atlantic with Lord Marcus. Serena is given an apartment as she prepares for her new movie role in the modern version of Breakfast at Tiffany's; Vanessa is also working on the film. Daniel has a job at the famous Strand bookstore, while Nate is working off his graduation deal by fixing his coach's house. Blair is put into a hotel by Lord Marcus, who introduces her to a kissing cousin w ...more

Recommends it for: People reading the GG series
How I Came To Read This Book: I just kept on reading the GG series…I think this is one of the last, if not the last one I read / own, other than the prequel.

The Plot: Graduation is over, but we’ve still got a summer with our stars before they go their separate ways and the series runs it course (unlike the TV show, which has actually flourished outside of that pesky high school environment). Blair is off in London with her British Lord of a boyfriend with wedding bells ringing in her head. Seren

There aws a lot to like about this book. I liked that even though all of the rich students that go to the private school in the upper East Side of Manhattan dont think that they dont need to go to School because thier parents have alot of money. They dont just think that they dont have to get a good educationto get a good job because mos rich kids think that their praents will pay for everything. . instead these students look foward to graduating high school so they can go to a good unive

The ninth novel in the Gossip Girl series. Everyone is living in their dreams, or well at least they are trying to. Blair has left for London to follow and marry her lord, but when that turns sour she dashes home, with wedding dress in toe, ready to start working for a famous designer on a movie she wanted the lead for. But Serena has that role and she thought she'd make it as a movie star, but so far her attempts have been less than satisfactory. Vanessa had the dream role of helping to direct ...more

Oh yes, welcome to New York City's Upper East Side; snobbish, name-dropping, gucci and Jimmy Choo-wearing, shallow, etc, etc. I can't think of enough nasty things to say about this book. But then I didn't watch Sex In the City which it has can been compared to "for the younger set."

On the other hand, I'm not 16 years old so not liking it might come with the territory. I've hear parents asking for it for the teens and I've had parents complain about it as part of a library collection. I agree -

This book is another good book by Cecily von Ziegesar. It takes place during the summer after everybody's senior year at high school. Blair is happy with her new French boyfriend and Nate is spending the summer on his parent's vote. Serena is staying in New York, living life like the actress that she is and is going shoppping everyday. Vanessa's sister is back in town and her new boyfriend is taking Vanessa's room. Hence, Vanessa has to go to live with Dan, who is nervous about it. Their summer ...more

Gossip Girl books are very entertaining. Even though there is a t.v show for the series,in every book you can picture everything thats going on; just as if you were watching the show itself. Basically, the Gossip Girl books are about the lives of the Upper Eastside's richest most popular i-have-everything-and-more type of teens. Most people think these types are stuck up and snotty. But in reality, they have problems just as everyone else. In this particular story, everyone is preparing for coll ...more

Hm. I think I've simply outgrown Gossip Girl novels. I used to love reading them a few years ago but now that I'm older and watched (& enjoyed) season 1 and 2 of the series, it's just like a lolly that has been licked too many times. All the mentioning of clothing labels and designer brands in every chapter were annoying all of a sudden and the characters did their same old same, Serena and Blair ex-friends, best-friends again, Blair over Nate, Blair still into Nate, Dan not with Vanessa, Da ...more

These books are my brain candy. I enjoy them, but I don't love them. One a year about fills my craving.

This particular book mainly discusses the difficulties characters have in finding or keeping a job after high school graduation and stabilizing their relationships. Most of the characters make me laugh in some way or another. They're all really meant to be over the top and ridiculous, or just plain stupid at times.

I have to say that with this book, I finally started to notice that Ziegasar has
