Shelves: essays, short_stories
Fun collection of essays and interviews along with a CD of assorted tunes from the bands featured inside. There's a great Luc Sante piece on postcard photography. Also a fun and informative interview on the New Zealand underground band, The Clean. Up-and-coming hipster favorites, The Vivian Girls, offer a short interview with Rob Simonsen and there are some very interesting papercuts from artist David Fair.

Quick and easy read, perfect for a long trip to the restroom.

this was the best issue of yeti i've read. maybe it has something to do with two, TWO, articles on disco, whereas in other issues there's been a bunch of short stories filled with your basic shitty writing characteristic of short stories published in 'zines.

no no, this one had an interview with vivan girls, an essay on the evolution of downtown new york arts/music scene written by the author of Love Saves The Day, an exhaustive account of disco given 5 stars by me. photo essay by Peter Doyle who

Another fantastic issue of music/lit/art book-zine Yeti. Articles seemed to reflect off each other (a trio on Aussie/NZ undergrounds, a pair on downtown avant-disco, few pieces on DIY/indie sensations). Loved Luc Sante's essay on postcard photography, ditto Tim Lawrence's nuanced look at the downtown scene in '70s/'80s, as well as my friend Ted's photo-essay. Maybe too many articles on music, too little Other, but that's minor, minor squabble.
