by
Svetlana Chmakova (Goodreads Author)
Now college students, Christie and Bethany are back to pimp their comic at the LAC, this time to a delightfully large crowd of loyal fans. But even as Bethany glows with pride over her designs being on the con T-shirts this year, she dreads the arrival of her strict mother, who's coming to the show! And while Christie is thrilled to be back hanging out with the wacky crowd...more

Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!!!! It's over!!! This is me thinking about it being over

LOL! Darn, I wish this series was a little bit longer. But HUZZAH FOR SO MUCH MATT!!!!!!!!!!!! What a stud!
The third volume was MUCH better than the second one. Much more stuff happening...and of course, WAY more Matt...so me likey ;-) Haha!
Now, to the PICTURES!!!!!!!!
(omg I wish I was Christie)

With two anime conventions under her belt, Christie knows exactly what to expect at the Yatta Anime Convention. Even her artist/partner Bethany feels like a pro at the con--especially with her drawing on the official convention t-shirts. Still both girls are in for a few surprises in Dramacon Volume 3 (2007), the final installment in Svetlana Chmakova's super awesome series.

I decided to finally pick this series up after I met Svetlana at a convention as one of my Featured Artists. I really enjoyed this view of the life of a convention artist. I feel sad its only a 3 volume set, but on the other hand, short means i can actually pick it up and finish it! :)
great art, great humor (one thread holding almost all my books together is often the humor if you haven't noticed)

Another one that didn't impress me that much. I gave it a four because (and I'll repeat it again) I loved the first volume so for me knowing the final was somehow good, although I hated it. Once again the main's relationship with that guy wasn't that good for me, there were lots of pages that didn't were related to them at all and you if read the last page you go like "what the hell is going on here?" The weirdest part is that you don't have a fourth volume so you never know what happened, if th...more
I loved this book. I'm jealous that Svetlana Chmakova can write and draw so well! The page layouts are great. Everything was in the right place, the word bubbles flowed into each other well, and the humorous drawings that expressed strong emotions were also well placed and not overdone. The author added interesting side stories along with the main story to keep my interest. There was always something going on, so there weren't any dull moments that I can remember.

Pretty much, this book was the conclusion of the series. Every single piece of drama at the con comes to an end. (Excuse the emphasis, I couldn't help myself.) But of course that doesn't mean they take away from any of the present dramas while wrapping of the old ones. It turned out to be probably the best one of the series and I have to say I enjoyed it the most. The ending was satisfying without it being to perfect of an happy ending. So, I have to give this an round of applause for being a gr...more
This series has not aged well.
I read the first two volumes right in the thick of my weaboo stage, but never got around to reading the last book. A recently made acquaintance forced it on me the other day, and here I am.
The biggest flaw in the book, is how it expounds the virtue of Original English Manga. There's this one particular author who's used as a success story; best selling, mobs of fanS, they're turning her mangas into a movie!!
This angle is understandable, considering A) DramaCon is a...more

The last volume of the Dramacon series is probably the best of all three. A quirky, bouncy, fun little manga! Dramacon is far from perfect but is still a great beginner intro to manga, Cons, and manga-style romantic drama.
The thing I probably love most about the book and the series all together, is the art. The art is wonderful, the character design is wonderful, the details and adorableness are all wonderful. End Gush.

Synopsis from Tokyopop: Dramacon is a romantic dramedy about a romance that blooms over the course of several years at an anime convention.
Christie is a budding writer who is attending an anime convention for the first time in her life. She and her artist boyfriend, Derek, get a table in the artist alley to promote a self-published ashcan comic that she wrote and he drew.
Derek is a little too taken with the attention all the female cosplayers are paying him, which upsets Christi...more

Felt a bit of a letdown as the protagonist role of this book shifted to a side character, and not even one who was present in the first volume. We still get love and life woes, but even the con itself seems to have taken a bit of a backdrop. And I'm fine with that, the new lead character is interesting and very human as in the last volumes, it just feels like a new series is all. This isn't to say we don't get plenty of Chrissy and Matt hijinks, either. Still recommended.
And so begins the last volume of the series. Though it opens on a bus on the way to the Con, Matt and Christie have actually begun speaking again about a month before so they've already reconnected. They almost take a back-seat in this book as it's mainly focused on Beth's struggle to form her own identity under her mother's dictatorial eye (I loved her Aunt Jazz). In the minus column, things can get a bit preachy at times and one of the major plot twist is mighty convenient.

While the series overall was funny and fresh, volume three suffered from too much melodrama and not enough substance. From Bethany's plot device sassy aunt to all the nonsensical relationship problems between Christie and Matt, the reader starts to loose interest. The third book was definitely a bit of a let down.
I really, really enjoy Svetlana's stuff. I've already read Nightschool and thought I wouldn't really care for these as much since they weren't supernatural, but I was wrong. They're great!

anyway, this was a good final installment of the DC series. i thought that christie finally got a break from all the crap of reality and got the whole PROJEC $^$%#(derek) out of the way! ^-^ ♥
i think matt had a better chance at survival this time around tho. except for the suicide attempt(emmy-zilla), jerk-a-thon(derek attacks), and spontanious human combustion("do you believe in soul mates?" "yeah, the tooth fairy, too.")

Fans of Manga that have ever been to a convention at least once.
After three years the trilogy is finally over! It's sad, really, but necessary. We find ourselves back at the convention in Dramacon 3. Chriss and her friends are all back, including Matt and his clan. The angsty antics are cut down in this volume, but are still present. A lot of pages are put towards characters focused on less in previous volumes, such as Chriss's artist, Bethany, who finally deals with her mother issues.
