Okay, calming down.
This volume had too much of a Matt shortage for me! I need more Matt. Stat.
And I love Christie's new artist, Beth! She's fabulous!

I am fangirling this book...SO MUCH. My family had to tell me to be quiet X) But yes, I am on a frenzy with this series.
Two Stars for Art Style Again...because it really is the right mixture of crazy, funny, and beautiful. Not as much funny moments as the first volume, but it was alright--hilarious anyway.

Having already conquered her first ever anime comic convention, Christie is ready to take her second Yatta Anime Convention by storm in Dramacon Vol. 2 (2006) by Svetlana Chmakova. Christie is also ready to show her new artist/partner-in-crime Bethany the ropes at the con. What Christie isn't ready for is to find Matt, the mysterious cosplayer that rocked her world in Volume 1, back at the con--with his girlfriend!

So, another year at the con. I like the idea of each volume being a different con weekend. Here we find all our characters a little more grown up, a little more realistic, and a little more interesting. So, it's an improvement all around. And, again, it does not have a predictable ending and in my opinion, a manga that's not formulaic, and manages to be suprising, is always a winner. Plus, it retains the delightful charm and humor of the first volume. Aces!
I haven't read much OEL (global) manga yet, but I took recs from an editor and bought a small heap of it last May. Of the ones I've read, Dramacon is by far my favorite--I just read vol. 1-2 in a sitting, and I wish vol. 3 were coming out sooner. A really smooth read, excellent artwork, engaging characters, awesome all around.
Christie is back for a second year at the anime convention, but in place of her old boyfriend she has her friend and new artist Bethany. Matt also returns for another year, but this time he brings a girlfriend who is a little jealous and abrasive. The other side story lines involve Christie's favorite manga artist who she meets again and Bethany deciding whether to take a professional job as an artist. This middle volume still has the same light romance and drama surrounding the characters, whic...more

Synopsis from Tokyopop: Dramacon is a romantic dramedy about a romance that blooms over the course of several years at an anime convention.
Christie is a budding writer who is attending an anime convention for the first time in her life. She and her artist boyfriend, Derek, get a table in the artist alley to promote a self-published ashcan comic that she wrote and he drew.
Derek is a little too taken with the attention all the female cosplayers are paying him, which upsets Christi...more

Now we know why Matt wears sunglasses.
And it's so obvious she still likes her. A part of me can understand why he's dating someone else though. He has to learn how to move on since they only meet once a year and their lives go in very different circles. And they're technically not dating anyway. Another part though is screaming he's a cheating bastard and that love can find a way. They could wait until they're independent and live in the same city or something. There's always a solution! But I d...more

I think it was a lil' worse then I was expecting. The first volume was so good that I wanted to finish the story really quickly. I thought that the main's boyfriend would come back to the plot so it was pretty shocking for me knowing that he wasn't there. I think this story kinda lost it's way and the appearance of a new character only made it worse. The main's relationship with the mysterious guy was almost null, so basically the story is more involved in the new character and her drawings.
It's a really fun manga by the terms that it literally describes cons xD good parts and bad parts. I haven't read the 1st volume yet but the romance in here hit my heart, maybe because it's something that can easily happen to you.
I like the opinions that the author transmits and also the fact that just because you draw well doesn't mean that the world is a sea of roses for you.
Actually I don't know if I would rate it 3 or 4 stars XD
oh and that guy really annoys me, meh.

Just as good as the first book. It's also just as drama-filled, but it doesn't feel like it's reaching or trying too hard to live up to its title. The characters are still awesome and realistic in their varied relationships and friendships.
I really, really enjoy Svetlana's stuff. I've already read Nightschool and thought I wouldn't really care for these as much since they weren't supernatural, but I was wrong. They're great!

I really like this volume of Dramacon. The drawings are great and the writing is really funny. A lot of interesting thing happened in this volume, but my one star deduction is because none of them happened to Chriss.
However, this does make me eager to read the next volume. I'm very curious to find out what happens to Chriss.

The first one was GREAT! But this one I was not fond of. It had better have a good finale and (view spoiler).
I don't have much to really say about this book and I don't know if that's a good or a bad thing. The book was really more of a time passer when you're just looking mellow on something simple. Sure there's some drama but not really the scandalous kind that I enjoy the most. All in all, it's an easy read.
Svetlana continues the series with another year, another visit to the Con, and another three days of weirdness between Matt and Christie. It's hard to discuss the volume without giving away the story, but again, the writing here is what shines. The plot development is utterly realistic, considering that Matt and Christie haven't seen each other for an entire year. Sure, there was some fantasy fulfillment, but on the whole, I felt like Matt and Christie could be real people. This series is defini...more
