Everything seems to be going just right for Dr. David Strauss. He is a successful OB-GYN. He is married to a beautiful and wonderful wife. His brother is just about to win an Oscar for a documentary he made. That is all about to end on Oscar night. He and his Irish-American/Catholic wife join his family on their beautiful estate to watch the Oscars. They know they will face a little bit of difficulty since he married outside of the faith, but their worries in this area prove to be for naught. In

"An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind." Ghandi
This is a definite departure for Patterson and his Cross detective fare; his characters feel the same, but the situation is much harder-hitting, in some ways. Having not been born by the time of any of the events in this book, I think that they were less horrifying or enveloping to me than they perhaps could have been to someone who can recall what actually happened, but they were nevertheless powerful. This book was dreadfully boring. If I wasn't a completist, I would have stopped reading this one very soon after starting. It was all I could do to get through it. There were a couple twists, but the first one didn't even dawn on me until about 10 pages later because it was so dull. The "exciting" part at the end wasn't even that exciting. No biggie though. With as many books as Patterson has put out over the years, they can't all be great. And as always, I was able to read throug

I give this book 2 stars because I can't say it's the worst book I have ever read. It doesn't, however, come close to Along Came A Spider or Kiss the Girls; the latter of which I read at every waking moment. That one is impossible to put down. This book however was not what you expect after reading the back cover. First, I found the summary given on the back very misleading. Second, it is so hard to follow. Trying to keep track of who each person is from their code names is no easy task. Not to

David Strauss' life is turned upside down in one fateful day at his family's Scarsdale, NY, home, when, a group of Neo-Nazis attack and kill his grandmother and his wife. At the same time, his brother, who is accepting an Oscar for his work on a film about the Holocaust, is shot to death live on TV. With a little research, Strauss and his former lover Alix Rothschild discover that several ex-Nazi officers and sympathizers have massed together to an effort to return to power. And, in order to pro

I was really disappointed in this novel. See How They Run (1997, previously published in 1977 as The Jericho Commandment) annoyed me mostly because I had a hard time caring about the characters.
Set in 1980 Olympics Village Moscow the novel was originally written taking place 3 years into the futre. Patterson did not realize that the USA would boycott the Olympics in that year and since the book was republished with a different name in 97 I had a hard time believing the actions coul More...

An early James Patterson novel. It's not like any of his other novels I've read. It seemed like it would be interesting - a revenge novel about the Nazis, the OIympics, and a modern day terrorist group. The first half was rather confusing trying to keep all the characters and their code names in order. It got better but never really pulled me in.

In one night David Strauss sees his wife; beloved grandmother; brother; and sister-in-law brutally murdered. Why is somebody targeting his family? As the book progresses, David starts to chip away at the truth. His grandmother was part of a secret group of Holucust survivors that have devoted their life to tracking down members of the Nazi party. He then finds out that she was ready to pull her funds, at his brother's urging, due to the radical plans of her comrades. Are the neo-nazi's behin

I am a big James Patterson fan. I had to check the cover of this book several times to confirm I was in fact reading James Patterson. I can say it's his worst book I ever read, but that seems odd, because I've never felt there were any other bad books...This was bad. Disjointed. I felt like there were huge gaps, missing parts. I have given it no stars.

I can't seem to finish this book. I'm almost three chapters to the end, and decided to skip it altogether and decided to fast-track to the last chapter. The plot is interesting but there are so many loose ends. Definitely not one of Patterson's best.

I had a really hard time getting into this book. I just read it to finish it because I was already halfway through it. It was not like any of Patterson's other books that I had read and I could definitely tell it was from his early years. The first disappointing book by Patterson that I've read.

A reasonable plot twist that at first glance is interesting but when really thought through, isn't all that good. Witting is OK and story moves at a reasonable pace.

The 4th Reich is on the rise, seeking a new Holocaust at the 1980 Olympics. But things are not as they seem. Not what I am accustomed to reading from James Patterson, but, still a fairly good book.

I really liked this book. It was a little different from the other ones I've read of his so far, but the only others ones I've really read were The Women's Murder Club series.

First Patterson book I read, which was only a few years ago, and now I'm hooked on ALL of his books. He's such a versatile writer.

Not one of the best books I have read. I really did not enjoy the ending as there was too much of a build up for such a ungripping end.

Can't comment without giving away the plot. Got a little confusing as to who were the good guys and who were the bad guys.

The back cover has nothing to do with the actual story, and it is really far-fetched. Not one of Patterson's best.

A real page-turner! It's crude sometimes but it really gets to you, all the nazi-committed crimes that make you sick and sad and angry but also the sickening need of revenge that's beyond any reasonable comprehension. I find this book really interesting and sad at the same time.

Good; Jewish terrorists try to make amends for Holocaust by threatening the Olympics.

It was a good book, but not nearly as good as his others. It's one that I wouldn't read again or keep for my collection.

Typical, solid Patterson. Also, I'm a sucker for anything set in Russia.
