This is Takaya Natsuki's first work, and I bought it entirely due to my respect for her as a storyteller/artist and my love for Fruits Basket, which is arguably her best work to date. I actually wasn't even quite certain what this series was about until I got the volume.

I'd already heard ahead of time that this series wasn't as good as Fruits Basket, so I was prepared for some mediocrity going into it. And it was there. In this volume, we see that Takaya hasn't yet mastered the fores More...

It's hard for me to choose a rating for this one. I didn't really know what to expect so I tried not too expect anything. Of course, that's not entirely possible since I read and loved Fruits Basket. I was glad to see Takaya had done another series. All I can honestly say about this one is that it's nothing like Fruits Basket. The art doesn't even look the same.

I was pretty confused for about half of the volume. I started to understand it a little more by the end. I don't like being co More...

Tamaki Otoya is a priest coming into his birthright of driving demons out of people. First, he exorcises a childhood friend and then a boy who hides behind butterflies. His girlfriend Asahi sees what this does to him and looks after him. His cousin Tokiwa shows up to serve as his defender. And the next jaki Tamaki has to exorcise has taken Asahi.

This is Takaya's first manga, and you can see the groundwork being laid for things that appear in Fruits Basket. The juzu beads. The main ch More...

I was excited when I saw a new series by the author of Fruits Basket, but this was a disappointment. Versions of the plot has been done before so it wasn't very original, and the art didn't appeal to me like Fruits Basket. Maybe it is just a slow beginning and the series will pick up. There were signs of more conflict arising in the last of the episodes in the book. Hmmm...I'll probably read the next one, but hope it is better.

As it says on the cover, this is the first series by mangaka Natsuki Takaya, who went on to do Fruits Basket. It's certainly not as polished, but still entertaining and full of angst. Also, there are hints that the two main characters are actually sleeping together, which almost never happens in shoujo manga.

Asahi is bubbly and cute and positive about everything. Tamaki is a bit dour and reflective. There was a scene where they were sleeping together and I was a bit surprised because I had assumed they were younger than that based on the drawings. The story was interesting and it was a fast read.

I hated Fruits Basket but I was willing to give the author another shot with Phantom Dream. However I just found it confusing and dull. Reading the description on the back of the book doesn't at all match the story I read. I will not be finishing this series.

As much as I love Fruits Basket, I don't love Phantom Dream. If its creation served as an opportunity for Takaya to cut her teeth on the manga industry, then it served its purpose, but I couldn't get through half the volume.

It was a bit confusing at first. I am still pretty new to reading Manga, and all of the Japanese names and terms are a bit tough on newbie me. But by the second part, the story with the boy and the butterflies, I was hooked. This is a very good story, and I am in. I have volume 2 already on order via Pines – but that is all they have. I may have to buy 3, 4, & 5.

Very, Very Good.

Hmm. I was a bit disappointed that this didn't grab me in the same way the Fruits Basket did. But it was interesting enough that I'll probably pick up the second volume to see where it goes from here.

strange...but I like it so far...The ending makes me want to read the next one so...why not? ^_^ (I started reading it because it is written by the same person who wrote Fruits Basket)

I don't think I'll like this series as much as I thought I would. There are parts that are confusing, the artwork is cluttered and I can hardly tell the characters apart, which I usually excel at.

I got to the end of the first chapter and was completely confused with everything, including the characters and their relationships with each other. Clearly this is not the series for me.

A co-worker lent me this series. It's Takaya Natsuki's first series and I really like the plot and setup so far. Looking forward to the rest!

Well, I know this is an earlier work, but it really paled in comparison to Fruits Basket. I couldn't even get half way through it.

The art is definitely not as good as Fruits Basket, but the concept is still interesting. I will read more, most likely.
