I grabbed this book, thinking it was the 2nd of the series. After being about 1/2 way though it, I found out I was on the 3rd. No worries, though, as the author does a good job explaining and "recapping" so I feel like I didn't miss much by skipping a book.
Like The Fire Within, this story is about dragons. Little clay dragons that live in the Pennykettle house. David, the tenant, is a writer with his special dragon, Gadzooks.

Fire Star is the third installment of the Last Dragon Chronicles, and the plot is finally beginning to heat up. Much of the setting takes place in the arctic, where serious events are beginning to escalate. Now three books into the story, I am devouring Chris D'Lacey's writing with a passion. I am now very familiar with his writing style; the way he incorporates vast, complicated, and fascinating ideas into a a simple script that anyone could read with ease. I am in awe. ;-)

* "Fire Star", one of Chris D'Lacey's dragon books, starts in the Arctic with student David, from rural England in book one The plot is too splintered for me, better strongly edited. Our hero realizes that his writing shapes reality. He wants to save Gawain, the last giant dragon, sleeping beneath the island. Too many characters follow stars, zap around doing nothing simultaneously, and are resurrected. Boring quasi-scAience had me skipping pages, pausing for parentage disclosure. For

The third instalation into the last dragon chronicles is most likely one of the best in the entire series. The one thing I will point out here is that it can be a bit baffling with several points in which another concept is introduced into the series. This can include everything from the journey of Thorren and Ingavar, to some other strange happenings in the Pennykettle household. These events can be difficult to get a grasp on especially if you haven't read the previous books. If thats your cas

So, funny story... When I bought this book at the book fair, it said nothing about #3 or anything on it. None of the other books were at the fair. So I assumed this was the first one. I take it home, I start reading. I get halfway through before I decide to stop. Nothing in the book was making any sense. There was no warning, no introduction. It just suddenly had these random characters, these talking dragons. You couldn't even tell they were made out of clay. I eventually found out from a frien

This book was a very interesting and amazing book. It is the third book of the "Last Dragon Chronicals Series" and is just as good as the other two. It was more action packed than the first two and had the most suspence. The book is about howw David, the main character, has to once again save the world from destruction. The story behind this book is that Gwillana returnns along with Elizabeth's husband. The characters are introduced to new creatures know as Fain and threaten t

This is the third in the Dragon series by D'Lacey. It is the most intense and also the most confusing of the series. If you haven't read the other books, don't bother with this one. David Rain; his girlfriend, Zanna; his landlord, Liz, and her daughter, Lucy, race to fulfill their destinies. David is writing his book, but is it fiction or reality? Gwilanna is trying to raise Gawain. The Fain, an ancient race, are trying to stop her and destroy the dragons. Which is worse, Gawain's awakening or h

I love the book so far because it's making me want to read more! Somtimes I realize that it's past my bedtime and I'm still reading! Ever since Lucy has gone with "Aunty" Gwenith(A.K. Gwillana) and Zanna being abducted by bears, David vows to save Lucy and put a stop to Gwillana's devious plan! He doesn't really care about Zanna because he hears that she's okay, so stopping Gwillana from summoning the greatest dragon in the universe is the first thing at the top of his mind. David stop

With a book contract and a trip to the Arctic, David"s life couldn't get much better. But then, in his book, an old enemy came back. Gwillana. once again, his story mimics real life.
In the crescent, a mysterious dragon, Groyne sets Gretel free. then, a mysterious force takes David's wisher.
In Chamberlain, Ingavar, the bear in David's story, comes and attacks David. Then, he receives a phone call from Liz saying that Lucy had been taken by Gwillana.
Will David Stop Gwillana

This is the 3rd in the series. It jumped pretty quickly into the fantasy realm. I was not happy with the ending... which for most books counts as a failure. But there was plenty of interesting stuff going on.
Not as kid friendly as the first 2 books. There is a relationship that involves "staying over" and main characters die in this book. Also, takes some pot shots at the church. It always seems like such a disappointment to me when someone with so much imagination stereoty More...

It's a page turner. I enjoyed it. David and his new girlfriend, Zanna, travel to the Artic along with the mysterious Dr. Bergstrom to research polar bears and the polar icecap. David and Zanna also have interests in the island known as the Tooth of Ragnar and Inuk myths. Gwilanna is working to bring the ancient dragon Gawain back to life. However, she is not the only evil force at work in this adventure.

I was a little let down by this book, after the excitement of the last one. I think it had to much of the arctic and polar bears involved, instead more of the dragons. It introduced monks into it, and even though they connect with a real dragon, the parts were boring. I think the book gives off more of a mystery and a cliff hanger ending, which is good, so I am looking forward to more.

Right now I am on the part where Lucy is captured and in the arctic. David is at home with Liz trying to find out how to save Lucy. Zanna just put the tooth of Rangar under the bears tongue and is asleep. I wonder if G'reth was actually taken, or killed. I hope not! Did David's teacher's dragon really steal Gadzooks pad and pencil? I hope the evil person cannot wake all the dragons or at least Gawain.

What started out as an enchanting, lighthearted series for the high end age of children and the low end age of young adult fiction has ended in this volume as a book probably not suited for those age groups. While still an enjoyable read, this volume delves into complex and esoteric spiritual issues and has quite a bit of violence.

Firestar. Woah. Where should I start with this one ? This is amazing. About a writer who actually finds out his dragon is magical. He can see to the future and whatever he writes in his book it actually happens in real life. Its about a squirrel who is some how affiliated with magical dragons and a little girl that lives with David. Theres too much in this book you need to find out your self. Read it today !

Fire Star was a little scarier for me because so much happened, all because of the Fain which proves we should not mess with other worldly creatures. Our main hero of the story is lost with no one knowing what happened to him after he valiantly defeated the Fain that would've wreaked havoc on the world lest David stop it.

Even though I read this book out of order and there was a lot of backstory that I didn't know, I still really liked it. I would compare it to Eragon and I liked Eragon as well. I would actually like to read the other books in this series and just haven't gotten around to it yet.

This book is about the Pennykettle household and their attendant David Rain who live with a bunch of dragons. Things get bad when Lucy the little girl gets stolen and taken to the ice caps. Now David has to save her and the world before the dragon Gawain, the last lived dragon, returns and melts the ice.

I liked this book alot for its fictional parts. Like for example they had little clay dragons that would fly around. But the story was about this dark magic that their tenant kept feeling when he went places. Kinda creepy not really lol but you should really rad this book. :)

I learnt it's good to cry for the characters in the book and i think a good author needs to beable to make the audience of their book to feel their emotions. After reading i was mopy all day. But it was the best book i had ever read. i am now reading the 4th.

This is book three in the series. It was a fast and wild ride. Each successive book gets better and better. What a tale this author weaves--- the details and the intricacies. It's amazing. I liked the way he changed perspectives--- there were several stories going on. I will definitely read book four.
