Along with Alan Moore's 80's work (Swamp Thing, Miracle Man and Watchmen) Brown's "ED The Happy Clown" in its collected form is/was and probably always be a great source of creative energy for me.
The best way I can sum Ed up is that a book that may very well have been and still is ahead of its time. Pure creative genius.

Ed the Happy Clown is a satire of contemporary western culture that encapsulates far more than just the Regan era in in which it was written. Brr. So good. Reagan's penis got tude. this is the best comic I've ever read. Bar none. for a long time I couldn't find book 7, 8, and 9, but wow, I just finished. Please read this. Please oh please!

ok, i had to read this through twice before it all made sense, but once all the individual plot threads had come together it was weirdly hilarious. or do i mean hilariously weird?

True heartbreak---CB made a book that made me reconsider how a comic story can be told--I have yet to apply those lessons, but I sure as hell intend to soon
