The Return of Rafe MacKade

Ten years after disappearing from Antietam, Maryland, the bad boy has returned. Cleaned up and successful now—and still dangerously good-looking—Rafe MacKade sets the town on fire, and tongues wagging.

Lovely newcomer Regan Jones is intrigued—what kind of man could cause this sort of talk? She's just about to find out.…

SERIE FRATELLI MACKADE n. 1 e 2: Rage e Jared

VIAGGIO IN USA 2016: Antietam, Maryland

Ahhhhh, Nora Roberts. You can always count on her to deliver a great book. The MacKade Brothers: Rafe and Jared is no exception.

This book, as you probably guessed from the title, is sort of like 2 books in one. Sure, they would have been 2 short books, but books nonetheless. The MacKade Brothers are a family in Antietam (Maryland?). They are a rough and tumble group and have been troublemakers their whole lives! But they love each other more than anything and that bond is showcased throughout th

As this is a book with two stories, I'll write my thoughts of each of them separately.

The Return of Rafe MacKade (5 stars)

LOVED IT!!
We get introduced to the bad and swoon-worthy MacKade brothers with the focus on Rafe.
Of course we know that it's Nora Roberts' speciality to make us fall in love with her heroes and to give these heroes their perfect match. She didn't fail. Rafe is the most alpha of her heroes I've read yet but I loved him! And I loved Regan. She was pig-headed but strong and

Overall rating - 4 Stars

There are two books in this series, each containing 2 stories about the MacKade brothers. I highly recommend you read Rafe and Jared's stories first because they're all connected.

Rafe & Regan's story...3.5 Stars

I loved Rafe's and Regan's story immediately, but somewhere between the hauntings and the introductions of the future brothers stories it fell short a tad for me... Don't get me wrong you still get a great romance between two wonderful characters but personally

I've been reading this quartet for years. They were my first NR books, and I'd read them one after another on my Nook, often through the night, in high school. Sometimes I even finished the fourth and turned around and immediately reread them. Last year I decided I needed to own hardcopies.

If you know anything about me, it's that brothers are one of my ultimate weaknesses. Oftentimes, the brother characters in books are my favorite characters. This series is four books of pure character-driven

The Return of Rafe MacKade

Nice introduction to the town with it's small town atmosphere, every one knowing everyone else and more importantly everyone else's business. Introduction to the MacKades - and some definition of the characteristics - Rafe is the bad boy, seems they all were, however because he left he's still got the aura; Jared is the oldest and has become the respected lawyer, Devin seems to be the quiet one who became sheriff, while Shane comes across as the happy go lucky baby brot

I think this mini series may be my favorite Nora Roberts so far. First of all, i absolutly loved how between the romance, she intertwined history in there, as i am a history buff. I loved the town of Antietam, Maryland, i live in a small town and i've always wanted to get out, but maybe i jst dont like this small town, because Antietam sounds so picturesque and relaxing, with a true community. Now I loved the MAcKade good looks, the whole bad bay persona with the dark hair and gree eyes. Rafe wa ...more

This is Book #1 of the Mackade brothers. Book #2 is with Devin and Shane. There are two short stories in this slightly oversized book by Nora Roberts. I didn't care for the characters in Rafe's story, but Jared and Morningstar's story was neat. She reminded me of Cher.

Four brothers, Rafe, Jared, Devin and Shane have the reputation of being bad boys, but they sincerely care for each other and family is # 1 to them. Interesting characters

One of nicest things about my love of Nora Roberts books for summer reading material is that my mother and my sister enjoy her novels, too. (And that's really saying something, since my sister has never been a reader.) As a result, I probably get to read far more of Roberts' novels than I would otherwise, since we all swap our books around. One that my sister picked up that was a favorite was Rafe and Jared: The Mackade Brothers, a repackaging of two of Roberts' novels for Silhouette Books from ...more

Rafe's story - 3.5 stars
Jared's story - 3 stars

These two romance stories about the MacKade brothers, Jared and Rafe, definitely sound like their era - the mid 90s. The sensibilities and attitudes reflect the nostalgia, the naivete, and even the prejudices of the time.

What I enjoyed about the stories was the camaraderie between the brothers - the obvious love. They always were a rough-tough bunch of boys, and that never quite changed. But I also loved the tie-in with the Civil War, and how

I found this book at Sam's Club for five dollars, and I love me five dollar books! I have seen Nora Roberts books everywhere, and I have to say I was really impressed with these two.
The first book in this two-book book is The Return of Rafe MacKade. Rafe returns to the small town of Antietam, Maryland and runs into newcomer Regan. While trying to fix up the old Barlow place together they find themselves very attracted to one another.
This was a short and quick read, but it was so well-written. I

This was a typical Nora Roberts book. I'm still a sucker for romance and there is always plenty in her books. After being gone from his home in Antietam, Maryland for 10 years Rafe returns. Many in the town thought he would never come to anything. However, he returns and buys the run-down home where a young soldier from the Civil War was shot and killed. The old Barlow house was never the same after that, haunted by the mistress of the house who never spoke to the husband again after killing the ...more

RAFE - 3 e 1/2 stelle

Two novels in one.
The stories of Rafe and Jared MacKade--the eldest two of the MacKade clan. Nora Roberts at her best. Creating 'bad boys' like the MacKades. The note from the Editors says that the boys were like wild stallions and sinfully sexy. But, each has a weakness, and for the MacKades it is a woman.
1) In THE RETURN OF RAFE MacKADE we see how things have change--sort of.
Rafe left town 'for good' to find his own identity. But, ten years later and the bad boy of the bunch had returned home

The first book, The Return of Rafe MacKade is the story of Rafe and Regan. Rafe is the badest of the bad Mackade brothers and is home after 10 years. He's made himself into something, a success. He is tempermental, stubbard, and more often than not just grumpy. But things change when he is knocked for a loop by a small, prim, proper scrap of a woman.... Regan.

When Rafe comes back into town, it's with a mission. He has bought the old Barlow place that his been in disrepair for years. And it haunt

The first story in this novella was about the bad boy Rafe Mackade and Regan Jones. They met at the local diner in Antietam, Maryland when he just blazed on in there. Rafe scouted the place to see what had remained the same, when he saw a familiar face Cassie with a new face Regan. Regan at first meeting thought that Rafe was the most handsomest man along with his brothers. They get along right off and Rafe hires her to help him an old haunted house. They get attracted to each other to the point ...more

In re-reading the stories of the 4 MacKade brothers, I finally got the whole arc of the story and the connections to the past. Rafe and Regan Jones are the first couple to find their place in Antietam, Maryland and the interesting ties to the past. I went into reading this with an open mind. It was first published in the mid s, so I didn't expect the romance to affect me any more than just cheesy he loved me he loved me not stuff like I used to read in those days. Well the s were quite a while ago and I don't remember reading such satisfying novels back then. Or maybe it's just my age ..... maybe I can appreciate it today ... who knows ... I made a wee bit of a mistake with this series and didn't realize I had actually read the second one first. Say oops. I wasn't too upset since this book was one that was fairly predictable - in a good way. I could have guessed right away who Rafe and Jared ended up with even if I hadn't read Devin and Shane's stories first. That being said - read them in the right order! It will make so much more sense as there is another story woven through the story of the brothers.
I really liked this series b

Love this book. I could not put it down.

I am not going to review every Nora Roberts book that I have read in the past because she is quite prolific and it would get redundant and I honestly cannot remember all the plots. I think someone finds someone else attractive but at least one cannot admit it so there is sexual tension, then lots of sex, and then they live happily ever after? Sometimes there is some magic , a family legacy, or a mystery. Certainly not great works of literature (however still 100% better than “the grapes of wrath ...more

The return of Rafe MacKade was the better of the two. Kept it from being a 3 star...barely.

I was going to love "The pride of Jared MacKade" but it was annoying. Half the time I didn't know what either of them were upset about. They had sex then one stormed off mad leaving the other as confused as I was. Prepare for emotional whiplash.

Set up for Cassie and Devin...expecting a predictable and slightly cheesy read, but still looking forward to it.

I hadn't read any early Nora Roberts in awhile, and I'm not sure I've ever read a McKAde brothers story. Two for one...cant beat it!

Rafe, quintessential bad boy, meets a prim and proper lady for whom he falls in love....Jared, bad boy turns respectable citizen lawyer, meets a mother with a ten year old son and both capture his heart.

Can't wait to read about the other two.. . and meet the ghosts from the Battle of Antietam Creek. Nora Roberts does a magnificent job of writing a romance and combi

Fun, quick read, but predictable, lacking in depth, and weak character development (especially for Rafe and Regan)....easily detected as one of Robert's earlier works from the generic story lines, cliched wisecracks, and romantic innuendos, but I love Robert's leading men nonetheless. The relationship between Devin and Cassie is what I'm really looking forward to in the sequel book as Cassie's horrid past begs for a meaty and profound journey to romance - hoping it lends more originality than th ...more

this book was two stories in one. I loved the first and the second was good-I just didn't like the female lead in part two and I think it made it tough to get into for that reason.

One thing I didn't like about these books were how fast they ended...it felt like there was a lot of lead up and then they just ended so quickly. Hardly any resolution at all. I felt like pages were missing.

There are parts three and four that I've got on hold at the library and I'm positive i know who Devin ends up wi

the book was split into two parts, Rafe & Jared.

Rafe was the bad boy who went away for 10 years made something of himself and returned only to fall in love with a woman who had moved into town while he'd been away. I loved it, the story moved quickly and had interesting characters.

Jared had been married, divorced and recently moved back home to the family ranch. He is a lawyer who met and fell in love with a single mum who had moved in next door. The characters were the same as in 'Rafe' so

The Return of Rafe MacKade was my favorite of all of the stories of the four brothers. The passion between Rafe and Reagan, although a slightly odd pairing, is intense, even when they're not exactly sure what they want, or where they want "this" to go.

The Pride of Jared MacKade combined Jared, a lawyer, and Savannah, a single mom with a tough (but sexy) exterior, in a somewhat unbelievable couple. I like how strong Savannah is and how the one thing she didn't want from Jared was him making her f
