it's nice to see that newer books are being made, though they are not quite the same...they do lack something...you can clearly tell which were written by stan and jan and which were written by their son.

regardless, my just-turned-6 year-old LOVES the Berenstain bears, loves them! and i feel comfortable reading them to her. i'm not a fan of the overly frufru-y girly books about shopping and shoes...i like these, they're more down to earth and remind me of simpler times...

In this Berenstain Bear's book the children talk their Mama into adopting one of Farmer Ben's puppy for them. Mama tells them a puppy is hard work, a puppy isn't just a toy. So as they learn all the struggles that come with having a new puppy they also learn what it's like to love one too.

Perfectly illustrating why this Mama steers clear of puppies. A nice short story about pet responsibility for the beginning reader.
