Through the 1970s, Bob Gruen had become designated lens to the decade's most celebraed acts including John and Yoko, The Stones, Elton John, Led Zeppelin and Ike and Tina Turner. When he met The Clash, however, a synergy of mutual respect and musical passion was established, leading to six years of documenting the globally worshipped band's adventures.

As much as I once worshipped the ground The Clash stumbled on, the post-“London Calling” section of their catalog (not to mention Joe Strummer’s solo career) is like a kick to the solar plexus or even lower, finally shattering the foolish and naïve notion that in the end, punk rock would ever be anything more than a ruse, a marketing opportunity, a chance for Levi Strauss to sell more blue jeans or Jaguar to sell more X-Types. Some of THE BEST Clash photos compiled in one coffee table sized book.

I bought this at the London art gallery where the original photos were being shown...and have a Topper Headon autographed copy of the book...randomness.

Seriously, though, some of the most iconic Clash photos are in this. Well worth the money.

Not quite as good as Pennie Smith's, but certainly worth it for anyone who really loves the Clash.
