The third book in the Lanny Budd series. I've read the series 2 or 3 times and am reading through it again.
This book was a bit difficult for me to get in to since the vocabulary was a bit higher than mine and parts are in French and German (neither of which I speak), but...it was worth the effort. Although the book made me feel like those of us in the "lower classes" will always have to hope there are decent rich folk around, I appreciated the main characters ability to overcome his class (and spoiled - though justifiably worried, wife's) expectations.
