Sin duda no es el clásico más leído y ello porque, a pesar de su excelente dominio del idioma español y su incisiva disección de la condición social y espiritual de los españoles, pesa más el tono discursivo y moralizante que el interés que el argumento y sus protagonistas puedan tener.

A surprising delight from the infamous required reading list!
Entertaining but not superficial. A text with infinite layers-classic mythology, western European history, treatise on leadership and empire, an Erasmian critique of the Church, philosophy and more. Published around the same time as The Prince, but with an opposing viewpoint (The Prince concludes a good leader is practical and takes advantage of situations presented and that being feared is probably better than being loved- Mercurio y

Muy interesante como testimonio de una época, no tan maravilloso desde el punto de vista literario. Por no hablar del entretenimiento. Según aclara el propio Alfonso de Valdés, se trata enseñar y no de divertir, así que el libro cumple ambos objetivos.
