A book that gives children a really great overview of the "typical" life of a Harvester spider in a garden, in a just-the-right-amount-of-info way. It's enough to whet the curiosity of an older child, while not being overwhelming for a younger child. There is an added note at the back of the book containing more information about the spider. My five-year-old and eight-year-old daughters were fascinated.
Beverley Brenna was born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, to a family where literacy was important. She credits her early interest in writing to a mother who was a published poet, and to teachers who shared literature that touched the ear and imagination as well as the heart.
Brenna published her first poem in The Western Producer at age seven.
