I had to surrender reading this book. I don't mind sex in books but when I read about her wetness dripping down her legs about 10 times in the first 1/4th of the book, it gets to be distracting to the point that there is no storyline.

I know this review is a little late, but a friend of mine just read it, and we chatted about it today. I wanted to see what I'd written, and surprise surprise...I hadn't written anything!

So, this is the beginning of the Masters of Time. The concept is AWESOME! there are these incredibly sexy, sensual Highlanders who can "jump" through time, but only for the greater good, so to speak, they have to live out their lives in their own centuries...usually 13-1600s, depending on which book in this seri

You would think that any book featuring time travel, hot highlanders, mystery, conflict and great lovin' would be a recipe for success. Unfortunately, this one just didn't do it for me.

It started with a prologue that felt too old-school "bodice ripper" to me. Now this isn't saying that all bodice rippers are bad. I just wasn't expecting this particular type of vibe in a book that was published within the past couple of years. Then on top of that, we were in a prologue, but in the past, but aren'

Recommends it for: a friend not akin to blushing about explict sexual language.

An introdution (and believably so)of time travel to the Scottish Highlands. The warrior makes other hero’s pale in comparison to strength, duty, honor and virility. I could be addicted to the accent and that’s that but really I enjoyed the painstaking care Brenda Joyce took in setting the scene for every thought, feeling and emotion created for the characters. What was most important? The Sex? Yes. The duty to protect he Innocent? Yes. To find what was (supposedly) taken? Yes. All the while each ...more
I really liked this, but I'm thinking maybe I have a different version. Maybe a censored edition. (PG-13) Most of the reviews and comments I read talked about how much sex was in it and how graphic it was. What I read was nothing at all like that. Not complaining. Just saying...
Okay I admit to loving all things Scottish, all things Highlander and pretty much all things Paranormal.. Put them all together in one book and I am a happy camper!
Author Brenda Joyce has basically combined "He-Man" with "Conan The Barbarian" in this series she released back in 2007. The premise of traveling through time to protect the Innocent is not necessarily something new but has been presented in a new way. Malcolm of Dunroch being a Medieval Highlander from the 15th century in no way detr

Let me start by saying I chose this book for several reasons, one being hot cover, two I loved the premise and three I have been aching to get back to my original love which is historical romance. This book covers all that which I love and missed, Highlanders(my new found addiction), a bit of paranormal(well if you want to call Good vs Evil)Time Travel, and History(Yay!). It had been so long since I have read anything to do with history that when I turned the first page, I felt like I jus

There was very little that I can rave over in this story, but I didn't want to hot poker my eye's anywhere in it so it gets a 2 star/okay rating.

My negatives...

I never connected to Malcolm, and I really did not like Claire. He was mostly boring and just a little too condescending and arrogant for me. I know it's odd that I would say that and I'm head over heels for Barrons, but the difference is that Barrons is arrogant and condescending but he's also got a really distinct sexy unique personalit
Meh. I love romance books, the steamier the better. I love paranormal romance. This was.... meh.

The brogue used throughout the dialog was too thick. I had a hard time reading it, and it seemed that making the characters sound a certain way was more important than what they were actually saying. The male characters were too gorgeous, too macho, too romance novel perfect. I can't believe I just wrote that, but it's true.

I would definitely put this in the beach read category. The characters were k

1hr into the book - It's no secret that I feel any and all books featuring highlanders should be narrated by a man. This book is no acception, this REALLY REALLY REALLY should have been narrated by a man........le sigh. Ps - the narrator's brogue SUCKS!!

Back to the book....

ok the narrator really started to bug me and I just couldn't get into the book. I'm going to skip this and listen to some other books that I really do want to read and try this one again in a week or so.

Once I started reading this, I thought for sure I wasn't going to like it. The overall story is about a group of super-men, called Masters, that are descendants of the old gods. Ok, so far not too bad, but there's a catch. One of their many powers is the power to mesmerize women and have their way with them (this is a romance), and if they lose control, or if they are just super evil bad guys, they can drain their sexual partner of life and use it to temporarily give them more power. This was th ...more
This was a new genre for me! Although not new to the "modern woman time travels back in time" element, the voracious sex took a bit getting use to. I did appreciate the protagonist as a modern educated, independent woman with high morals. Claire, a scholar of medieval Europe and owner of a book store that specialized in rare and valuable antique books, finds herself face to face with a medieval Highlander one night. She is swept back in time by Malcolm Laird of Dunroch, a Master of time and prot ...more

First, I must say thank you to my good friend Laurie who recommened these books to me!

I found Dark Seduction very enjoyable, fast paced and sexy.
The entire premise that the Masters of time have an insatiable appetite for pleasure is quite intriguing...They feed on the ecstacy itself. The Masters are a disciplined and secret brotherhood that exists to ensure the safety of innocents and protection of humanity...

DNF. I couldn't get any further than page 115. The story was quite good and probably would have kept me interested for longer had it not been for the nauseating insta-lust/love and the heroine's constant state of sexual arousal around the hero. She only had to touch him to then be dripping down her thighs. No kidding. That is almost a direct quote. And then when he actually caressed her (just one touch), she would have a mind-blowing orgasm. I know this is a paranormal book and I don't expect an ...more

Okay, this is not a book to recommend to your mother or any teens. Racey but with a really clever story. Time travel, hunky Scots, romance, and the battle between good and evil, what more could you want!
This was ok , but nothing special... The whole plot required a huge leap (ha ha ha, get it?) of faith and a suspension of belief, but even with that it still left a lot of things unrealistic and unbelievable... Some things were dwelt on too much, while others were solved way to quickly!
In the end, I wasn't even sure why Claire couldn't be with Malcolm - why she haaad to go "back to the future". However, once she was in her own time, 2 weeks later she decided that she wanted to go "back t
After having read Moning’s Highlanders I was craving for some Highlanders who could entice me the way they had….and I’ll be looking no further. Brenda Joyce has provided them with the Masters of Time-series.

This was Charmed meets Highlander in a sizzling paranormal debut of historical romance author Brenda Joyce.
I haven’t read any of Joyce’s historicals but if they are only half as good as this paranormal debut, they are definitely worth a try.

Dark Seduction – FOUR STARS

A big shout out to my girl, Laurie who recommended this to me. I knew it had to be good when she tells me that its HAWT! I love historical romance, I love highlanders and who doesn’t love a bit of Time Travel every now and again – this was bound to be good. Also this was my first Brenda Joyce book, so yes, I was a virgin. There was so much good in this book, I loved our hero, I liked our Heroine but I mainly wanted to jump the hero’s half brother, tie him to a bed and
Although, Brenda Joyce is best known for her historical romances (the deWarenne Dynasty series), the introduction of The Master of Time (MoT), a series of paranormal romances feature some of her more ambitious works.

Having enjoyed reading the Rose Trilogy, which is part of the MoT series, I decided to reacquaint myself with the paranormal with Dark Seduction. Within the initial pages, the writing was immediately gripping and erotic, which is a departure from what is usually a demure beginning t

This is the first book I have read by Brenda Joyce. This is He-man meets Braveheart, meets the Time Traveler. I love time travel books. This one was pretty steamy right away. I would have enjoyed it better if there was a little more character development and a lot less steam.

This book starts with Malcolm who is a Master of Time. The Masters are guardians who protect innocents from evil, sometimes traveling through time to do so. Malcolm is from Scotland and is the grandson of a Gaelic goddess.

This book is so bad I got halfway through and then skimmed the rest, merely to find out if the bits at the beginning would ever make sense, and just to see if what I'd predicted would happen, happened. Surprise surprise, it did.

The premise is interesting enough but what book am I talking about here: An American woman called Claire goes back in time to the Scottish Highlands and falls in love with a big Scottish warrior? Yes, it does sound awfully like Outlander, doesn't it? Joyce could have at
I chose this book from the library shelf based on the theory that since it was beat up, a lot of people had read it and thus it must have something going for it. I probably should have put it back when I discovered it involved time travel, because time travel plots often make my head hurt. Sometimes they can be delightful, though, so I took the chance that this one would be. It was not, at least for me. This a romance novel, not science fiction, so the time travel aspect is not really explained ...more
I returned it to the library unfinished. I'm not a big fan of literal time-travel plots in novels, even romance novels, because ultimately I feel they become trite and cheesy. If you read enough of them, you have to re-read all the cheesy "What do you mean I/you aren't from this century?!" 'revelatory' stuff all over again. In this case, the setting (magical Scottish Highlands mystics and esoterics) just struck me as even more absurd in its execution than the supernatural romances I've been read ...more
I think this was one of the worse books I read this year, top 5 at least!
The main characters are awful!, the writing is so poor and... how can they publish this??!
Malcolm is a chauvinistic pig who "doesn't mind if you love him, it'd actually be kind of nice!"... he thinks it's ok to read your mind and has no problem at all with hypnotizing you so you'll have sex with him... oooh and don't forget his huge, massive penis... the girth and the lenght!!!... pah!
But even Malcolm's annoying self ca

I would have given it 3 stars BUT Malcolm deserves one whole star to himself!

How can I not like this book!
-It has a hot Scottish guy
-Set in a beautiful place
-Timeless love
-Steamy scenes

Now that's my type of book. Malcolm meeting Claire was fate. No doubt about that. I love how Malcolm was possessive of Claire that's just so cute. Though I really hated how he denied his love for Claire as lust rather than love, I wanted to punch him and knocked some sense into that gorgeous brain of his
The worst Brenda Joyce ever. When you buy a book you want to understand the basics very fast, specially when it's a fantasy - time travel.

First of all... There's the prologue about THE PAST that the hero and the heroine make no mention of AT ALL for the eight first chapters (I stopped the torture after that)

Then... puhlease. A heroine that wears a mini and a thong when there is a potential bad guy dowstairs with lots of fights foreseen in the future? what happened to a good old pair of jeans? Bu
Read KMM Highlander series it's 100% better!!! Ok...what to say about this book...boring, bad sex, and no suspense. I know that there is a story line, but I just couldn't get into it. I listened to the audio while at work and about halfway through it I was fast forwarding it. It is a 16 hour book. Which I would have loved if the book was good. I will agree with another reviewer that I too was sick of hearing about her wetness dripping down her legs all the time. Don't get me wrong I like sex in ...more
He estado a punto de dejarlo varias veces. Es lento, bastante aburrido a veces, demasiado rápido otras, le faltan consistencia a los personajes y luego, cuando te estás enganchando a la serie, se acaba. Flojo y demasiado denso para mi gusto.
The idea behind this book seemed great - warriors who can go through time and battle evil. Some romance and some time travel are two things I love in a book. The female lead in this book ruined the entire novel for me, she was in one word - annoying. She should be a strong woman -she knows martial arts, carries a taser, knows how to protect herself, yet when she is attacked she falls apart. She is wishy washy and whiny, one minute she loves the hero, the next she hates him or is afraid of him. I ...more
