I really like Jackson's books. They are always a good mystery, and Jackson has good pacing. I found this one a little cliched, however. The couple that ended up together was way too predictable, and the main female character did not seem very impacted by the emotional things that happened to her.

This is the second Lisa Jackson book I have read, and I have to say, I am a fan.

A killer is stalking Shannon Flannery, a serial killer that likes to kill with fire. And Shannon's family is obsessed with fire, her father and brothers were all fire fighters. Her late husband and his family were also fire fighters. They also all had secrets that they kept from Shannon. Shannon has her own secrets, problem is, the killer knows everybody's secrets. He has a plan, a deadly plan that invol...more

I seem to be attracted to Lisa Jackson's books the same way a passerby is to a burning building or a horrific traffic accident. You know you shouldn't look, but you can't help it. I think I am waiting for her "formula" to vary or her writing to improve. Sadly, it does not.

"Fatal Burn" follows the typical Jackson plot and you can pretty much see the ending from the first page. In this story she does try to throw in some twists at the end, but they felt so contr...more

This was well written. A missing 13 yr old girl, who's father is a former Special Forces agent, and believes that the girl's biological mother, who put her up for adoption at birth, is somehow connected to her disappearance. There are lots of secrets and mysteries involved with both the disappearance and the family of the biological mother.

Although there were a few good mystery / thriller elements present in this book here and there (the narrative of the Dani being in captivity was good), I find this overall a disappointing read. This story could have been told in so much fewer pages; indeed, it was often repetitive (very repetitive indeed!) and the story was stretched to no end. I really holds me back to read another book by this author.

This book is a suspense thriller. It is pretty good and has plenty of blood and gore. Problem is, it is 500 pages long--about 200 pages are not needed.

I enjoyed this book a lot. I spent a lot of time trying to figure out who the "Beast" was and had it narrowed down to three people. I was never sure until the end.

A somewhat suspenseful read but because the beginning was disjointed and poorly written, I only gave it a 3; otherwise, it was worth a 4.5 (half stars would be nice.) I liked the character development and the brothers being close is typical of an Irish family as was the hot headedness. The bit of romance between Travis and Shannon added to the story, especially because of Dani, and I thought Jackson tied up all the loose ends nicely.

This was another recommended author. It took me two months to read it, and I kept plodding through it, only because I wanted to see how it ended and who the arsonist/stalker/kidnapper was.

I overlooked the chicky parts and the occasional inconsistencies because the storyline was pretty good.

It picked up in the second half and had a twist in the ending. Overall a good story, but I probably won't be reading any more of this author unless she has a bigger publisher with bette...more

This book is what I call a "palette cleanser". I read books like these after a book which is read with considerable effort, or one that is designed to stimulate my mind and only gave me a headache (see: The Case of Abraham Lincoln).

I read this book within a day, laughed off the plot holes and descriptions of the spunky heroine, then moved on to something that required more than 1% of my brain. For a palette cleanser, it totally did the trick.

Bonus: sex scenes!

Lisa Jackson is one of my favorite authors, but this one was a little dragged out and long. I did still enjoy it though.
