This is my textbook for my Holocaust history class. It is unfortunate that this book is poorly written after the depth of research the authors undertook.. The authors are very repetitive, so much that it often seems they are just trying to make it longer. The structure of the book is very poor. However this book is a must read because of the emotions it provokes and the firsthand experiences it shares. It is filled with information gained from personal interviews, memoirs, and archives.

This book layers many different narratives. For a more 'textbook' kind of book, I had a hard time putting it down. It's an easy read, and lacks any academic jargon. The authors interweave personal narratives with more historical/documentary accounts of the Holocaust, making one take note of both the massive scale, and the intensely personal nature of the crimes.
