Ahh, I'm really loving these Fly Guy books. This was is my favorite so far. I love how this one and all the others are easy to read transitional chapter books. I also particularly like the illustrations in this book. i like the "close up" of the food. On these pages, it would be a good time to ask the students what they think the food might be. Love these books!

Easy book for my son to read. It has 3 chapters, which makes him feel like he's reading a big book while the words are still easy enough for him to sound out. There's also somewhat of a pattern, so he's able to recognize some words again as he reads them. There are more Fly Guy books, and I know he's wanting to read them all!

The Fly Guy books are wonderful early readers and this is one of my favorites! The repetition and outlandish details make for a book that begs to be read over and over again.

I also found that this was a great book when we were working on the "sh" sound in speech. Let's just call it sneaky practice time.

This is a book that should be in your classroom library. It is a chapter book, but the chapters are short and the pictures help the story move along quickly. Children will find humor in the book and want to complete the whole series of Fly Guy. Great to use to transition more lengthy and detailed chapter books.

I use it with a repeated refrain: "I want my favorite treat, something that's good to eat. I want to find my snack. I hope I'm flying right on track" to the traditional Shoo Fly tune. Brilliant - given the clues, let the students guess what the snacks are.

Lots of descriptive words kids will enjoy. Can teach a lesson on adjectives using this book in a younger classroom. Boys will like this book because its kind of gross in some parts and we all know boys like gross things!
Priscilla Schelling
I liked this story. I feel it's important to include transitional chapter books in a classroom so that lower level readers who struggle with reading can still read chapter books and feel some sense of accomplishment.

Fly Guy misses Buzz who has gone on a picnic and he looks for food. Every time he finds something to eat someone is yelling Shoo Fly! Funny book for boys with a little bit of grossness (fly food is gross). AR 1.7

I liked this one more than the other series, because you can actually learn some stuff from the little buzzer! Boys who are starting to read independently will enjoy all the series of Fly Guy! I guess!
Brandi
This is a wonderful book if you are looking for an easy but engaging read for a child that needs to practice reading. The story keeps them interested, making it easier for them to practice their fluency.

A cute book about a fly who is looking for something to eat. Every time he finds something that might resemble his favorite food, he gets shooed because it is not what he originally thought it was.
Jenna
This book is full of descriptions that children will appreciate. It shows how descriptive words can make the story better. There is also repetition which will help students with reading fluency.

I really liked this book and thought that it was really cute. I liked how the fly went to a bunch of different places; I think that it gives children a chance to see life from a flies point of view.

I think that young children will enjoy this story. It has some repeating phrases in it. The illustrations are very lively. It follows Fly Guy as he searches for some food.

Silly little book about a fly, who is a pet, looking for food to eat. Adorable easy reader for kindergarten and my 2 yr old giggles too. Good enough that I went for other titles.
Glenn Kennedy
This is a good book to help with beginning readers. The repetition of words will help students with reading. Fly guy goes to the wrong dinner and gets shooed away.
Rachel
This transitional chapter book follows Fly Guy as he looks for something to eat. It's repetitive text and supportive illustrations helps readers develop fluency.
Lindsey
Flies like to eat disgusting things and Fly Guy is no different. In his search for food, he lands on things make people and other animals very angry.

I liked how it used "Shoo fly" in the book, a play on the song. The illustrations are also good. The repetition in words is good, too, for beginning readers.
Rebekah Jones
The book was about how everyone treats flys. Yet, the fly could go home to his Buzz who likes him. I liked how the fly went on an adventure.
Emily Rosbottom
Another fun Fly Guy book by Arnold. Adventurous and entertaining, especially for the younger reader. Love the pictures!
Hannah Sheffield
I think this book would be great for 1st or 2nd grade students. It would be a good book for them to read on their own.
Amanda
Another simple and short book. This time, Fly Guy is trying to find Buzz on a picnic by finding the right food.
Deborah Harris
This is a fun book. Buzz has a pet fly. This book is easy to read and uses unique writing styles. Uses logic and justification.

A fun book with great illustrations about a fly on a quest for food...without being shooed.
