You Belong to Me was my first Mary Higgins Clark. She's such a popular and prolific author, I had put off reading her books. I was afraid I wouldn't like them, but what I should have been afraid of was enjoying them. You Belong to Me was an exciting, suspenseful read that made me regret not reading Clark's books earlier.

Not good. Not good at all.
I am so disappointed to be writing this review! MHC is one of the only mystery authors I will give any sort of attention to and typically when I pick up one of her books I’ll have it read in 3 days max. Up to this point, her success rate in the world of me has been 100%. Without really having to say anything else, I’ll tell you that this book took me 3 weeks, 3 WEEKS, to read.
She definitely has a formula with her books: Grim Incident at the Beginning + Inte More...

Oh MHC, you and your red herrings! Is the killer this guy? Is it that one? Is it the one you want Susan to end up with, or the guy she'll probably end up with because all MHC mysteries are also romances?
The thing about Mary Higgins Clark books is that they're fast, they're not completely predictable, and they're intense. I like this, considering not all of the stuff I have to read fits this. I love having these around for a lazy summer day, and this one is no exception. Is it stellar More...

A young radio journalist, Susan Chandler, decides to do a new series on her show about women who just vanish without trace. With the help of a book written by psychiatrist Donald Richards (whos own wife disappeared) she begins her new series with a piece on the unsolved disappearance of Regina Clausen who vanished into thin air whilste on a round-the-world cruise three years ago. When Susan started the show, what she didn't bargain for was a mysterious call from a frightened lady calling herself

Mary Higgins Clark may not write the most imaginative of thrillers but she's an accomplished writer in her own right and she never fails to deliver a page-turner that's full of suspense. She's like that dependable friend: she can always be relied on to produce a mystery thriller that is easily digestible and pleasant to read. You Belong to Me doesn't disappoint and is an entertaining read despite its formulaic structure and predictability. While I had picked the killer quite early on, she kept m

I hadn't read any Mary Higgins Clark books since The Cradle Will Fall many years ago. I remembered that it was a really good, but scary book. Why I hadn't been reading any of Clark's thrillers, I don't know, but when this one was loaned to my by a friend, I decided to try again.
The novel is about a serial murderer who kills lonely women, always giving them a turquoise ring, inscribed "You Belong To Me." As more potential witnesses emerge, however, he needs to eliminate the po More...

My mother-in-law bought me this audio book for one of my long driving trips to and from Roseville and Eureka. Unfortunately, we didn't realize that this was an abridged copy of the novel, so it was only three hours of listening time for $9.99. Still, it was better than nothing, and I did enjoy the nostalgia feeling derived from reading a Mary Higgins Clark book. I used to be a major fan when I was in middle and high school, and I remember reading and solving these mysteries easily.

I haven't yet finished it all the way. It is a really great book though, it starts off kind of boring and slow, but when you get maybe 8 or 9 chapters into it, the book gets really good. I have stayed up really late a couple of nights because I haven't been able to close the book. It is a good keep you at the edge of your seat kind of book. Yes, at times it is a little boring, but most of the time it is quite a good read. I definitely suggest it for good, mystery book lovers. I really like

A really enjoyable listen. The version I had was a CD from Chivers Audio books, read by Shelley Thompson. She has a very good voice.
The story follows Susan Chandler, a psychologist with a radio show. Afer interviewing the writer of a book about the mysterious disappearances of a number of women, she starts investigating. The plot twists and turns, with a number of new friendships and a series of murders taking place. It is not certain who is responsible until the end of the book.

I wish I could say it got better. It didn't.

First off, this book has to make some top-10 list of hokiest book titles ever. The title alone was nearly enough to turn me off the book, but what can I say? The pickings for audio books are slim at my local library, and I needed something to listen to in the car.
I'm now on disc 6 (of 8), and the book is living up (or is that down?) to the title. I love a good mystery, but this one has painfully obvious foreshadowin More...

I used to really like MHC books as a young teen, so I picked this one up as an easy vacation read. While I was drawn in and couldn't put it down for a while, it was with frustration rather than suspense. 'Oh my God, tell me who it is already so I can finish this stupid book' is not the thought I like to be having while reading a mystery. Awkward fashion mentions, weird name-dropping, and a stupid twist just for the sake of having a twist all made this book feel unsatisfying, forced, and eyeroll-

We thought the book was pretty awful, but we ignored the sites (in Yellowstone, no less), bought a headlamp to read it while driving and then added 20 minutes onto a 6 hour roadtrip to finish it before we got home. Ann, Karen, me and Micah, I think. If Amy wasn't there it's like she was. I just read a few other reviews and have to agree with the person who put the title up there with the hokiest book titles ever. Make that one of the hokiest books ever. A lot of people really like MHC thoug

It wasn't fantastic, but it wasn't awful either. Mary Higgins Clark has a way of writing that keeps you guessing and suspicious of every character, but it's not as thrilling as I had hoped. It reminded me much of Dan Brown's writing - you're suspicious of every odd character as being the killer, but then it turns out that it's someone you hadn't suspected at all because you were lulled into a false sense of security. The only difference is that I have trouble putting Dan Brown's books down (simi

Clark has a way of drawing her readers in, with her world of mystery and suspense that she creates in her book. You belong to me is about a woman who follows through a murderous chain reaction that she seem to have set off after hosting it on air, except in following the clues she doesn't realize how deeply she becomes involved and how much danger she's in. Clark keeps the reader turning the pages with suspense, overall wonderful quick read. What I would take away is the magnetic pull she uses t

I did enjoy reading this book and like another reviewer would probably have given it a 2 1/2 if I could and I too went for 3 as I did enjoy it while I was reading it but felt the ending was fairly tame. All the way through the book, you knew it was one of two people and I didn't think there was enough of a gradual build up of clues as to which of the two it was. Unlike other thrillers and crime novels I've read there didn't seem to be things in it that at the end you felt "oh so that was

You belong to Me by Mary Higgins Clark is about Dr. Susan Chandler who is a clinical psychologist and also has a slot called Ask Dr Susan on a popular radio station. On one of these shows Susan has a guest: Dr Donald Richards who has lost his wife and written a book called Vanishing Women and this discussion finds them talking about Regina a lady who disappeared off a cruise ship; this leads to another lady, Carolyn, who calls into the show and states she had befriended a man on a cruise ship.

Once again, Mrs. Clark enchanted me with the beauty of New York and most importantly, the real-life of psychologist (or shrink as we love to call them). Dr. Susan in this book is definitely a strong woman but lack of control in her life. She lost a love partner to her sister, she lost her father to a whinny stepmother and she was having a love-hate relationship with her dear sister, Dee.

I always enjoy books by MHC! They are easy to read, fast-paced, and keep my interest by trying to figure out the "bad guy." This book didn't disappoint. I figured out who the killer was early on - it was just a matter of figuring out how he would get caught.
A review on the back cover made me giggle as I think the writer at the Detroit News was laying it on a bit thick when he wrote, "What's amazing.....is how expertly (she) manages to keep us hooked time after time, More...

Another great book by Mary Higgins Clark. I like them because they keep me guessing till the end. And each one is so different - she doesn't write by a formula. This one is about a psychologist who has a radio show and invites an author on who wrote a book about woman vanishing. The broadcast opens a can of worms that nearly kills Dr Susan and had me guessing who dunit till the end!
And she doesn't use bad language to "spice" up the story it works very well without!!!!!!

Another spine-tingly scary murder mystery by Mary Higgins Clark. Her writing compels readers to keep turning pages. By the time you have finished the book you will understand all the clues she laid out, but until you reach that "Aha!" moment you will begin to suspect more than one villain afoot.

My first Higgins Clark mystery - enjoyed it because the author doesn't rush from crime to crime and she develops the characters a bit more than James Patterson (a sometime favorite) does. What I didn't like was that it was easy to guess early on who the murderer was, try as she might to convince readers that other characters were guilty. In that sense, it was shallow, but I'm going to read at least one more Higgins Clark book before I move on to others.

I could hardly put this book down. It pulled me all the way through. I don't always walk away wanting to read a book again right after I finished it, but this was definitely one I wanted to read again. It was compelling and suspenseful. It was a mystery throughout the whole book about who actually was behind it. And it kept you guessing right up until the end on who was actually guilty. It was a really good book. It was a quick read and just enjoyable.

This book was like a made for TV movie murder mystery. I read it because I needed something to distract me for a day, and it got the job done. I haven't read many mysteries at all, so I really don't know how it compares to others. I didn't know "who did it" until the end, so I suppose MHC did a good job with the story. I may have to give another mystery book a chance before I decide whether or not I like the genre.

This book is really addictive, Mary Higgins Clark takes us once again in an exciting thriller until the end, she takes us on different tracks that would suggest that this or that character is the killer (I first thought the counselor Jane Clausen, Douglas Layton then to Dr. Richards). While it is only in the last pages that we discover the real identity of the killer, I do not doubt at all that it could be Alex.

I have not read anything by this author before and I enjoyed this book. It was a good suspense that kept me guessing. I was sure I had it figured out in the beginning and was disappointed that it was so easy to solve the mystery, but about 1/2 way through I realized I was wrong. I could read another book by this author.

A good page-turner mystery, a little creepy at times as this crazy guy is out there who has killed women he found on cruises around the world. The main character is investigating one of the woman's disapperances and happens to know the guy, but doesn't realize it. It definitley kept me guessing until the end.
