This book is based on a lost (and unfinished) manuscript by Margaret Wise Brown (author of the beloved Goodnight Moon). That manuscript was based on an English nursery rhyme:
I see the moon
and the moon sees me
God bless the moon
and God bless me.
I have to first admit that I was never entirely won over by Margaret Wise Brown. Goodnight Moon, for example has an odd rhyme scheme/rhythm and the illustrations are uninspiring. But it is a book that grows on yo More...

Honestly, this is probably one of the best children's books I have ever had the privilege to read. It has a wonderful rhythm that is reminiscent of her most well known and loved book "Goodnight Moon". But this book is so much more than that. This story has longer stanzas per page and is perfect for a read-to or a learning-to-read story. It is short enough for nap or bedtime, and long enough to be a one book night and to cause conversations and questions. The moon shines down on all the

If you are looking for a Christmas present for a young child, this may be the book for you. Once upon a time, Margaret Wise Brown, author of Goodnite Moon started this book, which is based on the childhood rhyme "I see the Moon, And the Moon sees me. God Bless the Moon and God bless me". She didn't finish it, and the manuscript was recently found tucked in a trunk. Laura Minchew continued the story, writing in the same style as Brown. We see the moon shining down on children from

The Moon Shines Down resulted from Laura Minchew “completing” Margaret Wise Brown’s manuscript based on the prayer I See the Moon.
Linda Bleck’s illustrations are bright and cheerful, vibrantly depicting the golden shine of the moon.
Sadly, The Moon Shines Down is not engaging due to the lack of overall structure. The voice flips between the third and first person. The premise of the book is the moon shining down on different areas of the world, but the places described se More...

Held together by rusty paper clips and hidden in a trunk, the manuscript of The Moon Shines Down by Margaret Wise Brown was forgotten for decades. Unexpectedly discovered in a Vermont barn, the book was recently introduced to the world by Thomas Nelson. The text is based on the prayer “I See the Moon and the Moon sees me, God bless the Moon and God bless me.” Journeying around the world, readers are exposed to how the moon shines down on children in every country, and even the fish in the sea. Margaret Wise Brown, beloved author of Goodnight Moon, passed away 56 years ago – but not before she began writing a charming new story. The unpublished manuscript for The Moon Shines Down was found in an old trunk and completed by talented children's book publisher, Laura Minchew. Now this wonderful book is available to add to your collection and is sure to be a hit!

Aaron's first obsession was the moon. He LOVED to point it out in any book, so this was a real winner. Not only is there a moon on almost every page, it has lots of fun illustrations and a sing-songy lyric that's easy to read. I also like that it tours the world (with a koala as a tourguide - how random is that?). Plus, it's a big board book, so it stays in good condition. Finally, both my 2- and 4-year-old find things to enjoy in this book, so it's something we can all read together.

I am thrilled to have another Margaret Wise Brown story to read to my daughter before bedtime. Our favorite lines are from a song we sing "I see the moon, and the moon sees me. God bless the moon, and God bless me." The illustrations are so warm that it has been a perfect addition to her library.

Epic children's book. The words are super inspiring, I love the old nursery rhyme--I see the moon and the moon sees me...
I really loved the illustrations. Each part of the world is drawn and in each page you want to be there. I had so much fun reading this.

Koala voyages around the world where the moon and children are always blessed.

Very easy to read to the kids. Even though it is longer, I found that I loved this more than Goodnight Moon, 60th Anniversary Edition!

This long lost story of Margaret Wise Brown has beautiful illustrations and a rhyming text to interest children in learning about children from other cultures.
