With the exception of a few I felt like a stranger reading his poems, like he was purposely trying to exclude me. I was also put off by how he treated poetry as if it were a game of tag. Like he was trying to catch these brilliant ideas and slap them with a form that didn't fit. When he wasn't trying too hard, though, his talent was clear.
