For those of you who thought this was another one of those chick-lit books that always only talk about high school drama like boyfriends and popular boys, then you're COMPLETELY wrong. This book was one of those that started off on a good note, and ended off with a dark twist. One that will surprise any reader. Many of the characters all hungered for one thing; popularity. To be the top girl of their high school. Too bad someone's out to get them...

I tried really, really hard to read this over a 2 year period. I put it down, tried reading chapters inbetween other books... just about everything. I just couldn't get interested in this book.
I'm not sure why this didn't catch on with me because it's not like I dislike Holder's work or that it's poorly written. I'm reading another one of her books (Possession) which is decent enough. It's also not like I can't get into YA fiction- it's actually one of my most favorite things to rea More...

My third review today people I am on a roll! So, this book is reminiscent of what I know about the pretty little liars series. The blog entries remind me of the notes on the back of each pretty little liars book. But, besides that, this book is decent. So I'm done.
Wait, am I? Nope, I'm not.
So, this book is about Hazel, a girl who would kill to be popular, no pun intended. I didn't like Hazel but I'm pretty sure that holder didn't write her to be liked. Regardless, the character More...

This book was NOTHING what I expected it to be! The cover makes you think that the book would be similar to the Gossip Girls series, in some ways it is but the whole plot of the story is completely different.
The book takes place in a high school, Brookhaven High, where the most popular girls are known as the Pretty Little Devils. It’s the typical high school where everyone wants to fit in and be part of the top clique. The group consists of three girls, and one transitioning into becoming More...

This is, admittedly, one of my judged-by-a-cover books.
I was simply browsing through the books in the Dollar Tree when I came across this book. Both the title and cover seemed promising enough, so I sent out to purchase it in hopes that it was worth the dollar (YAY for dollar books!). Anywho, I had read the back of the book and noticed how remotely similar it was to Pretty Little Liars...

Eeriely scary and suprisingly true. This book will leave you sitting on the edge of your seat.
This book made me rethink my friendships, just so that i could evaluate people's characters and find a deeper them. Wow! This book was reality. There are people in your life that would want to control you and not always be well-wishers. And i had to finish this book to actually find out.

You know, even at the ripe old age of 34, I still remember the cliques in high school. There were the popular kids, the stoners, the geeks, the band geeks, etc. None of our cliques had cool names like the Pretty Little Devils, but we made do with what we had anyway. At first glance this book appears to take you back (if you're out of high school) to your high school days, or if you're still in high school, remind you of your place in the social net...but this book is so much more than a typical

Hazel is just your ordinary high school girl but she wants to be so much more. When Sylvia, one of the Pretty Little Devils (PLDs), asks her to join their group, she feels her life is going to change. Along with her new friends, Hazel gets an instant after school babysitting job, a new phone, and the boy of her dreams, Matty Vardeman. Little did Hazel know how controling the PLDs were, their love of horror movies and pranks, or that being the most popular sometimes means being the most hated.

Pretty Little Devils was like Mean Girls meets Scream 4.I had just so much fun reading this book. The characters were the stereotypical high school popular kids but that just made this book awesomer.I loved that this book started as a fluffy read but soon became sinister and spooky.I was soon caught up in a guessing game for the killer and I could not put the book down.I must give a warning that DO NOT READ THE LAST PAGE you shall spoil the entire read. The thing that made the book creepier was th

Pretty Little Devils by Nancy Holder
Pretty Little Devils by Nancy Holder is a realistic fiction mystery. It puts its readers into the very center of Brookhaven California High school. A place ruled by the sassiest group in the school: THE PRETTY LITTLE DEVILS.
The PLDs have been together since the 5th grade. Sylvia Orly is the tyrannical head of the group, followed by Carolyn Bosch, the lesbian, Megan Williams, the fashionista, and Ellen Schmidt, the misfit of the g More...

The Pretty Little Devils are the four most stylish elite girls at their high school. Hazel thinks that she's gotten lucky by being inducted as their 5th member. The girls seem fairly harmless at first, just simply in love with horror films and full of fun, scary pranks. Only the pranks turn into actual murder.. the only question is, who is murderer?

What starts out as a classic 'mean girls' book quickly morphs into a murder mystery, a who-dunnit! The PLDs are the most popular girls at school...even though Ellen seems to be slipping. Hazel is invited to join, but she learns there are rules and expectations...what you wear, where you sit in the cafeteria, who you date, and Sylvia pulls all the strings.

It's junior year for Hazel and she wishes more than anything to be in a popular clique - more specifically, the Pretty Little Devils (PLD's). They're the queen bees of the school, whom everyone adores. So after Sylvia, their "leader" invites Hazel to one of their parties, she quickly agrees. Soon, Hazel is one of them and feels on top of the world. But trouble is brewing for this group of babysitters...they begin getting creepy phone calls, anonymous text messages, and emails from some

Nancy Holder, you are the queen of mystery & suspense.
I'll admit it, I thought I had the killer pegged after only 100 pages in, and I wasn't swaying. Usually I rock at guessing the killers but, needless to say, I was so far off. So bravo, Nancy, you fooled me!
This novel kept me on my toes, wondering who would be next, who would be the next suspect. The crank calls were definitely eerie (I know I would flip out if some weirdo was crank calling me like that). Sylvia defini More...

Imagine the movie "Mean Girls" met the movie "Scream" in a shady bar one evening. They fell in love and had a book-child called Pretty Little Devils. Or imagine "Heathers" for a younger generation. Take your pick; this is one of those novels that screams to be compared to film. I suspect that if it had a larger following it would be made into a movie (but if you visit Holder's website it appears there is already a teen petition growing to do just that). For what

So I thought Pretty Little Liars was terrible. Then I read this. It seems like a very cheap, poorly written knock-off of the Pretty Little Liars series (seriously--the similarities are NUMEROUS!!!), and since I thought that series was pretty bad, that does not say good things about this book. I'm waiting for my students to give me a convincing argument as to why this is a good book. Still waiting...

Pretty Little Devils was a great book. It was about a bunch of girls in high school in this group called the pretty little devils. They are the most popular girls in school. They rule the school, they can get away with whatever they want to. It always helps when they are cheerleaders. It's there junior year in high school. Then in the cafeteria on the first day of school, Hazel, a girl that was never ntoiced much, accidentally crossed the head cheerleader of The Pretty LIttle Devils. Sylvia, aft

I have to admit that when I picked this one up, I was expecting something a lot different than what I got. I was hoping for a breezy little popular-girls-get-their-comeuppance kind of book with a side of mystery (like what the jacket flap hints at). Instead I got a high school horror story from the point of view of a girl that has only recently become popular and you really can't hate. It was my first venture into horror and I have to admit it was interesting. Definitely not my usual fare, and p

Before i even heard of pretty little liars i read this. READERS BEWARE DONT READ LATE AT NIGHT!! This book can really creep you out. The way it was written was amazing and for the fact that i felt that i was in the story scared for my life. As the mystery behind this popular group of girls starts to get stranger and people around them start to die. Its up to them to find out how is doing the killings before its them next.
