For those of you who thought this was another one of those chick-lit books that always only talk about high school drama like boyfriends and popular boys, then you're COMPLETELY wrong. This book was one of those that started off on a good note, and ended off with a dark twist. One that will surprise any reader. Many of the characters all hungered for one thing; popularity. To be the top girl of their high school. Too bad someone's out to get them...

I have to admit, when I read the prologue, I w...more

I love how mysterious this book is!The book started off on a good, happy note, but ended in a dark, twisted way. The author does a good job of creating suspicion and building on to it. When you think you know who the killer is because it's obvious, it turns out that the person you thought was the killer really wasn't. The actual killer in the story is someone who is least expected. The author also does a good job of foreshadowing. You will be able to tell that something really bad is about to ha...more

This is amazaing. Simply amazing. The story tells about the coming into the in-crowd of Hazel and how her life changes completely when she started hanging out with her new friends.

What I like about the story is that the author has written it very well. She described the characters clearly that I was able to picture them as to how they were described in the book. The thrill of finding out who was the real culprit didn't let me put the book down. I read it in a matter of hours. The excitement was...more

Hazel Stone goes to your stereotypical high school, where cliques and cheerleaders reign. This book greatly reminded me of Pretty Little Liars--even up to the point where I'd call Pretty Little Liars to be a rendition of this. I was surprised at how few people saw the resemblance. I'm mean, come on; lies, cyber-bullying, cliques, mysteries--and pretty little girls who don't seem as they look? Plus, "Pretty Little Liars" and "Pretty Little Devils"?

Anyway, Hazel Stone seems like a sycophant in th...more

I could not put this book down! It had me guessing until the end who the culprit was because it literally could have been anybody! My initial guess at who it was was NOT who it was and that is all I am saying on that before I spill the beans but it basically has your usual clique of popular girls that everybody wants to be or in this story wants a piece of.

Sylvia was an awesome character...played her part to the hilt as the original queen biatch who tried to rule all her queens courts lives bet...more

The characters were well written. The author describes their feelings clearly, and I felt just as terrified as Hazel! It was only written in Hazel's perspective. But I would've wanted it to be more then one person. Like maybe Sylvia and Hazel. There was a lot of drama going on in the story. Not enough that made me think this book was out of control. Just enough to keep me entertained in every page.

In the book, with the whole blog entries and threatening messages and murders, it definitely made m...more

I tried really, really hard to read this over a 2 year period. I put it down, tried reading chapters inbetween other books... just about everything. I just couldn't get interested in this book.

I'm not sure why this didn't catch on with me because it's not like I dislike Holder's work or that it's poorly written. I'm reading another one of her books (Possession) which is decent enough. It's also not like I can't get into YA fiction- it's actually one of my most favorite things to read. For whate...more

My third review today people I am on a roll! So, this book is reminiscent of what I know about the pretty little liars series. The blog entries remind me of the notes on the back of each pretty little liars book. But, besides that, this book is decent. So I'm done.
Wait, am I? Nope, I'm not.

So, this book is about Hazel, a girl who would kill to be popular, no pun intended. I didn't like Hazel but I'm pretty sure that holder didn't write her to be liked. Regardless, the character had her ups and d...more

This book was NOTHING what I expected it to be! The cover makes you think that the book would be similar to the Gossip Girls series, in some ways it is but the whole plot of the story is completely different.
The book takes place in a high school, Brookhaven High, where the most popular girls are known as the Pretty Little Devils. It’s the typical high school where everyone wants to fit in and be part of the top clique. The group consists of three girls, and one transitioning into becoming a Pre...more

Pretty Little Devils (PLD's) is about a girl named Hazel who wants to be one of the popular girls like the PLD's. Sylvia lets Hazel join the group and suddenly shes one of them, ditching her old friends. What they dont know is that one of the PLD's is a killer and 3 of them will be dead before schools over.

She attracts the attention of super hot new guy in school, Matty Vardeman, she gets invited to all the best parties, and everyone in school wants to be her. But there's an underside to being a PLD. This is, admittedly, one of my judged-by-a-cover books.

I was simply browsing through the books in the Dollar Tree when I came across this book. Both the title and cover seemed promising enough, so I sent out to purchase it in hopes that it was worth the dollar (YAY for dollar books!). Anywho, I had read the back of the book and noticed how remotely similar it was to Pretty Little Liars...

Was it?

Pshyeah.

Actually it was more like a mix of PLL and The Lying Game, both ironically written by the sam...more

Eeriely scary and suprisingly true. This book will leave you sitting on the edge of your seat.

This book made me rethink my friendships, just so that i could evaluate people's characters and find a deeper them. Wow! This book was reality. There are people in your life that would want to control you and not always be well-wishers. And i had to finish this book to actually find out.

The real world is very vicious, people will want to take you down every step to take and you'll just have to be ready...more

You know, even at the ripe old age of 34, I still remember the cliques in high school. There were the popular kids, the stoners, the geeks, the band geeks, etc. None of our cliques had cool names like the Pretty Little Devils, but we made do with what we had anyway. At first glance this book appears to take you back (if you're out of high school) to your high school days, or if you're still in high school, remind you of your place in the social net...but this book is so much more than a typical...more

OMG words can't describe how much I loved this book! The premise is very similar to the Pretty Little Liars series which could put some people off (it put me off at first) but if you can put the similarities to the back of your mind, you should definitely give it a go.

This is one of those novels that you will not be able to put down. I didn't necessarily love all of the characters, but they were definitely well developed. The main character Hazel did annoy me sometimes. She was obsessed with bei...more

When Sylvia, one of the Pretty Little Devils (PLDs), asks her to join their group, she feels her life is going to change. Along with her new friends, Hazel gets an instant after school babysitting job, a new phone, and the boy of her dreams, Matty Vardeman. Little did Hazel know how controling the PLDs were, their love of horror movies and pranks, or that being the most popular sometimes means being the most hated.

Pretty Little Devils was like Mean Girls meets Scream 4.I had just so much fun reading this book. The characters were the stereotypical high school popular kids but that just made this book awesomer.I loved that this book started as a fluffy read but soon became sinister and spooky.I was soon caught up in a guessing game for the killer and I could not put the book down.I must give a warning that DO NOT READ THE LAST PAGE you shall spoil the entire read. The thing that made the book creepier was th...more

Pretty Little Devils by Nancy Holder

Pretty Little Devils by Nancy Holder is a realistic fiction mystery. It puts its readers into the very center of Brookhaven California High school. A place ruled by the sassiest group in the school: THE PRETTY LITTLE DEVILS.
The PLDs have been together since the 5th grade. Sylvia Orly is the tyrannical head of the group, followed by Carolyn Bosch, the lesbian, Megan Williams, the fashionista, and Ellen Schmidt, the misfit of the group. Breeona Wu is the seco...more

The Pretty Little Devils are the four most stylish elite girls at their high school. Hazel thinks that she's gotten lucky by being inducted as their 5th member. The girls seem fairly harmless at first, just simply in love with horror films and full of fun, scary pranks. Only the pranks turn into actual murder.. the only question is, who is murderer?

I was completely sucked into this book. It's not my usual type of read by any standard, but I must say that it was intriguing and definitely kept you...more
