This is a unique Pendragon book: It takes place on Earth. Even more unique: In the 1930's. I don't want to spoil anything, but Machale did an amazing job with this book, piecing it together and making it sound realistic. I really enjoyed it.

My favorite book yet in the series, you can really conected with this territory!!! Bobby must not only save one world he must save three the past the present and the future not to mention Halla which is every thing in all of space...No pressure... wrong Bobby, spader and Gunny, must find the turning point of the teritory First Earth..If something gose wrong not only one territory will be destroyed but three and to make matters worse this is could really hit home for Bobby (literally). Join Mark an...more

This book that I have read is a very interesting book. It really fits the category of being adventurist. The author D.J Machale purpose for writing this book was to entertain his reader with vast imagination. When I was reading I could find myself imagining what im reading as if it was a movie. Also another theme was that he wanted to show the reader how important it is to help others, because you never know what can happen. Pendragon is a book of adventures but also a book about helpful values...more

This book was a very good book. It is the third installment of the Pendragon series. Bobby tells his story in his point of view during his travels. Bobby Pendragon travels again to another territory, First Earth, which is earth in 1937. After defeating Saint Dane in Cloral and after going through the death of this Uncle, Bobby followed Saint Dane to defeat him again. This time the story takes place in New York City, 1937. Bobby and Spader, the traveler from Cloral, meet up with the traveler from...more

I don't like writing reviews, I'm too emotional to see the big picture, but this book needs at least some "notes." Firstly, it is tragic. The entire series is that way. The ending of that last book shook me and left me broken. But this is kind of where it begins. They're on First Earth(some of the turning points and continuity in this series aren't the best) which is based in the 1930s. This ends up being about the Hindenburg. For most of the book, they're trying to figur...more

We are initially met with a challenge in this book. We've gone to different worlds with the characters, foreign places to our minds, but we are met with our own past in this novel, and as someone that enjoys things about World War 2, I practically melted when I started to read it and figured out the time period. Spader and Bobby are already on the run from a pair of mobsters, still in the clothes from Cloral. They meet this tall black man, that cleverly saves their life. It's only later that the...more

The book that I have been reading this week is the third book of the Pendragon series, called The Never War. This book is as good as the old ones. But this one is much better, because it takes place on our Earth, New York City, 1937! World War II time, so makes me very interested. By the way, if you have history classes on World War II, this book can give you quite some good facts. Very informative book.

The rising action and the climax join together very well. The rising action, is mainly about...more

Okay, this book is not like any of the other Pendragon books. This deals with the past. This deals with the past of Earth. Welcome to First Earth!
Bobby and Spader end up in New York 1937. This would have been really cool if they hadn't been attacked as soon as they stepped out of the flume. Two gangsters met them at the flume with loaded guns at the ready. Bobby and Spader are saved by Gunny Van Dike, the traveler from First Earth. Once they land in the Manhattan Tower Hotel, the hotel where...more

There are many types of themes and issues that are happening in “pendragon” right now. Here they are: Friendship issues, War vs. peace, Good vs. evil, and a bunch more. The main one for me though is Friendship issues. The main character, Bobby, and his friend, Spader, are having friendship issues.

Spader is mad at an evil guy named St. Dane for killing his father. Spader goes wild with anger when he hears about or sees St. Dane. This doesn’t help Bobby stop St. Dane from destroying Halla (Everyt...more

I think what I love most about this series is the different worlds. Every book, there's a completely new setting to lose yourself in, complete with a new cast of characters. But of course, sometimes the best ones from previous novels come along for the ride.

Bobby Pendragon now finds himself in a very familiar territory indeed; First Earth, his home planet in the 1930's. And he quickly discovers that the "tipping point" here has everything to do with time. Somewhere, someone, helped along by none...more

This is my favourite book in the series so far. Anyone who likes Quantum Leap will enjoy this story. The premise is if you could go back in time and you knew that something terrible had to happen to ensure that ultimately everything else would turn out well could you still let it happen? It had more depth and raised more complex plot questions than the earlier ones which made it more interesting. Fast paced once it gets going and you feel compelled to read to the end.
The only thing I would say i...more

Bobby is getting less annoying, and Gunny is awesome. I really, really dislike Spader. The world did not grab me at all, only partly because it's my own, but the gangster thing just bored me. I figured out who Saint Dane was masquerading as and what he was up to WAY before the main characters, which ticked me off. And it annoyed me that Bobby thought at the beginning that they could prevent things from happening, like WWII--the danger of hind-sight is that you try to change the past, which only...more

I think that this book has a very interesting and adventurous plot which allow the readers to be engrossed in it. This book says about a boy name Bobby Pendragon who is a traveller who flumes to other territories of different space and time to save it from its turning point. Their enemy who is Saint Dane is also a traveller but has different ambition which is to lead the territories to total destruction which will cause the fall of halla. Bobby Pendragon,a boy who is a coward before had taken up...more

This book was not as good as the second book in the Pendragon series, but it is still a phenomenal book. This is the third book in the Pendragon series out of ten books. I liked this book because it combines fantasy, adventure, and science fiction. To make sense of the summary you would need to read the first two books because the plot is very confusing.

Bobby Pendragon arrived on first earth with his friend Spader. Then he meets the traveler from first earth, Gunny, right near the flume where he...more

This is my favorite book in the series so far. It takes place during three different time periods in Earth's time. One of those time periods is in 1937 and a part of the plot revolves around the Hindenburg disaster. SO COOL. I love, love, love this author. Even though these are adventure stories full of action and even, sometimes, death, MacHale has a way of writing that makes me laugh out loud. A few of my students have picked these books up just because they've seen me laugh when reading them....more

In this book, Bobby has to travel to First Earth to save the world from Saint Dane.

This book was much better than the last two books. There was a good plot and likeable characters. I actually learned some history in this book!

The only thing I disliked was Mark and Courtney. No offense or anything, but I really do think that this book would be much better without Mark and Courtney. I hate it how Courtney and Mark think they're so smart being direspectful to the employees at the bank. I swear tha...more

I think this had to be the most interesting book in the series partly because it took place in 1937 which according to the author is considered "First Earth". There are also a "Second Earth" which takes place in present day Earth, and also a "Third Earth" which takes place in 5010, the future of Earth. I really liked this book because it was in the times of World War II and I've always thought that particular point in history is way interesting! The year was 1937. Through the flume, Bobby Pendra...more

This book is about a boy named bobby pendragon who happens to be a traveler that travels to diffrent territories and saves them from an evil man named Saint Dane. They travel to a territory called first earth. First earth is earth in the 1937's when the hindinburg blew up. It turns out that the hindinburg crash turned out to be the best thing that happened in world war 2. If the hindinburg didn't crash, the nazizs would have gotten their hands on a blueprint in the hindinburg that was for a ato...more

The Never War is possibly my favorite Pendragon Series book. Which is saying a lot because I love all the Pendragon books. This book is even in my top ten list. I think because it is set in First World. Which means that it is set in the past of our world today, or 2nd world. In all these books Pendragon has to find the turning point for territories and then has to solve it. The turning point is an event that the bad guy (Saint Dane) uses to take over the territory. First Worlds is the Hindenburg...more

This book was a very good contiuation of the serious, Pendragon. The whole series is basically about a boy whos fate was to protect all of the worlds from the evil man known as Saint Dane. His objective is to destroy all of the worlds so he can rule the other world, Halla. But Bobby, the main character, with the help of other travlers, must put a stop to this man because if they dont then humanity is in a lot of trouble. This book is talking about how Bobby travles Saint Dane back to New york bu...more

In this book of the Pendragon series, Bobby must go back in time (to first Earth) and stop a catastrophe that could turn the tide of WW2. The Pendragon series is a awesome series, and includes thrilling adventures, and heart pounding suspense. Bobby needs to win each territory of Halla from Saint Dane. Each territory has a "turning point" that will decide the fate of the rest of the territories existence. In this case, that turning point is the Hindenburg. And Bobby isn't here to stop it from bl...more

As I mentioned before, Aspen is seriously addicted to these books. I read them when I have nothing better, and it gives me something fun to talk about with Aspen. They are an easy read that's mostly engaging.

This one was cool because it takes place here on Earth in the 1930's, rather than in a fictional world. Because of that though, it lacked a bit of the imagination and vision that the second book had. It's fun to try to figure out where the subterfuge is this time, and who the bad guy really...more

Pendragon: The Never War

Cloral was a sad win for Bobby Pendragon. After saving Cloral his uncle Press died from bullets coming through the flume. After his funeral Bobby and Traveler from Cloral Vo Spader follow Saint Dane to Veelox, where local Traveler Aja Killian tells them that Saint Dane is on First Earth.
Jumping into the flume they appear in... a familiar subway tunnel. Welcome to First Earth, A.K.A 1937. There they meet Vincent “Gunny” Van Dike, cal...more

I was feeling that book 3 might see my interest flag a little. The mesh of history and Nazi Germany and mobsters just didn't seem like something I was going to get excited about. Truth be told? I'm not sure why I can't give the book a five rating. I DO enjoy the plot, the characters, the writing style, the fast pace, the "save the world(s)" aspect and all. Maybe I'm just feeling the Young Adult nature of the series. A four is still a solid rating, and if I could have, I might have gone for a fou...more

The adventures of Bobby Pendragon continue in this third book in the series, bringing the readers into the world of a late 1930s New York City. This book is every bit as exciting as the previous books and will undoubtedly please fans of the series. MacHale manages to describe a hustling and bustling world that the mostly younger audience can take in and imagine for themselves. The immersive settings that the books offer up are the most alluring parts of the series. At the end of each book I am a...more

I must be honest and say that I am surprised this book/series has gotten so many positive reviews. I find the story line to far surpass the way it is written. I keep wanting to ask the author if he doubts either my intelligence or my memory. The number of times facts and events get repeated - book to book, chapter to chapter, and sometimes paragraph to paragraph is frustrating to a high degree. I am a school librarian and I did ask some of my students to try it. My tastes are not always theirs....more

“This was like no library I had ever seen because, well, there were no books. Actually, I take that back. There was one book, but it was the lobby of the building, encased in a heavy glass box like a museum exhibit. I figured this was a book that was here to remind people of the past and the way things used to be. As I walked over to it, I wondered what would be one book chosen to take this place of honor. Was it a dictionary? A Bible? Maybe the complete works of Shakespeare or some famous poet.
"Green Eggs and Ham?" Gunny said with surprise. "What kind of doctor writes about green eggs and ham?"
"Dr. Seuss," I answered with a big smile on my face. "It's my favorite book of all time."
Patrick joined us and said, "We took a vote. It was pretty much everybody's favorite. Landslide victory. I'm partial to Horton Hears A Who, but this is okay too."
The people of Third Earth still had a sense of humor.”
