Mycelium Running: How Mushrooms Can Help Save the World was one of my favorite books last year, but it left me with a lot of questions. So I checked out another one of Paul Stamets' books...and this book answered those questions but left me with another round of things to ponder. This may be an endless cycle?
Growing Gourmet and Medicinal Mushrooms was more technical than Mycelium Running, and it does get tedious in sections. But Paul Stamets' enthusiasm (and genius!) shine through...more

Helping me become a home mushroom hobbyist - the book is really aimed at more commercial growers (his "recipe" for substrate calls for 100 lb of sawdust and 50 lb of wood chips), but the growth habits of many many mushrooms are laid out individually which is helpful, and all the info you need to grow mushrooms is in the book, written in an engaging style.
This book is really geared more towards small-time mushroom farming, but many of the techniques could be modified for the home gardener.
informative for beginner as well as the experienced mycologist.
The best book in the world on growing mushrooms.
Stamets is the man
Reads like a text book. Be prepared for tons of research. Research is something I really dig, and I enjoy reading instruction manuals, so this book isn't for the everyday leisurely read.
The best reference book, both from a growers and a 'classroom' perspective. If you just want to grow some mushrooms skip the book and buy his kits at Fungiperfecti.com
For the more adventurous and knowledge seekers, buy the book and lock yourself in a room for a week.

Just way more clinical/scientific than I wanted. But after all, cultivating mushrooms is tricky, so I don't know that I'm going to find any dummy's guide to it.
Mushrooms are a big part of the farm, this is a good book on growing mushrooms.
If you like mushroom books, this is a good one!
