I only read this book at the suggestion of a mentor. When I went and picked it up, I didn't read the back cover of it, or the subtitles or anything else, so when I got home and saw the reference to "Abraham" on the front cover, I was very skeptical about it. I didn't want to get sucked into a book of a religious bent.
Turns out, it was even weirder than that. Don't stop here, though. Read on!

Not sure what to make of this book just yet. It seems like it has good insights to offer, but the way it is presented is rather strange. The book was supposedly "channeled" through a sort of spiritual guide and not "written" by the authors. While I am not denying that this was the case, so far I have read books that were MORE enlightening and were NOT channeled. But I will update again when I am done with the book.

Love, validation, the secret of eternal life will all be found in this book. What is the cost? Only your critical thinking skills. You must completely surrender yourself to your emotional guidance and let it show you the secrets of the universe. Esther Hicks channels this book (or as she would say, "receives" from a nonphysical perspective) from the group of entities collectively known as Abraham. They know what you want, everything that you desire, and they will tell you everything th...more
I'm reading this book right now. It was given to me by someone who enjoyed it. I do find it a bit creepy. I've read in many health magazines that positive thoughts make us feel better.
Do I think the people I've cared for in Homes wouldn't of had a stroke, or a heart attack or MS and so on if they had though positive...I know some of those people are very positive and up people with good careers, good family and so on...and they still had a stroke and ended up in a wheelchair at a early age...more

I have checked into this book a couple of times before (at the recommendation of other people), both times failing to finish it before it was due at the library. This time a good friend gave it to me as an assignment (wink!). I even took notes. Maybe she will buy me a beer now. Haha. Ho.
I appreciate the message the authors are attempting to convey. As for the channeling phenomena, I am not a believer. I don't mind, however, ignoring where the message allegedly originated from and app...more

I think I should have read this book prior to Ask and It Is Given: Learning to Manifest Your Desires. This book is a sort of primer to the Law of Attraction concepts outlined in the other book, but it does not have the detailed exercises that help you "make it work."
It is, however, an excellent explanation of how the Law of Attraction works, as well as things like "segment intending" (what you plan for a particular part of your day from an emotional perspective, ...more

I'm thrilled to have found this and I'm especially glad I got the version that combines the three universal laws: Law of Attraction, Law of Deliberate Creation, and Law of Allowing. [[ASIN:1401912354 The Law of Attraction: The Basics Of The Teachings Of Abraham]]. My life is already beginning to change and for those who are cynical, if it makes you feel better, you can think it's because in keeping positive thoughts in my mind about about the things I want in my life, I'm keeping myself in a hap...more
While I agree with the principles set forth in the intro to this book, the whole idea of channeling is a bit off-putting to me. I made the assumption they were applying or contriving some principles from the biblical Abraham, so the channeling came as a bit of a shock and again - somewhat off-putting despite the fact that I agree with the general mission of the book. I've read books on channeling and even how-to guides, but I'm still just not that into it. Perhaps I'll pick it back up later -- f...more
Long before the film and book phenomenon The Secret, Esther and Jerry Hicks were teaching the Law of Attraction. The Law traces back to Biblical times and states that you create your own experience in this lifetime through your thoughts, beliefs, and expectations. Compiled into one volume, The Law of Attraction provides the basics of the teachings of Abraham, a non-physical spiritual entity that Esther Hicks claims to channel from the astral realm.

I ran out of time to finish this book, but I did get about halfway through before it became overdue. Once you get past the initial weirdness & into the Q&A part, it does get interesting, if repetitive. I completely believe in the power of thought and attitude to alter our perception of reality. Under certain conditions, I somewhat believe in their assertion that thought can actually alter reality. I have a very hard time believing their assertion that absolutely everything in your life was d...more
A powerful book, with a lot of great insight and material that speaks to me. Unfortunately, most of the "meat" has already been explained by about halfway through the book, so it does start to seem repetitive - though mostly in a good way, in that "yes, I get it now" sense.
The section at the end on Segment Intending is really not calling to me, so I think I'll have to come back to it at a later date (what is it with me and the aversion to micromovements/segments??...more

I had this with Korean version and it was my first -Abrham Law of attraction series- ('astonishing power of emotions did I read before with no much understanding of Abraham)
And when I almost finished, I was in tears touched by the wording 'appreciation'.
More than appreciation to everything that helps me to attract this precious teaching and rememberance!

I had a hard time with the concept that we attract everything possible in our lives. I agree with the author that attitude can better a person's chances for obtaining what makes them happy. I do not think a person draws forces to be a murder victim or a four year old with terminal cancer. Sometimes, it is God's plans and part of learning process mapped out for you.
This book is something along the lines of the secret, but the readers are asked to believe the information comes from a collection of ethereal beings called "Abraham."
"Abraham says you can have anything you want in 60 days as long as you want it, think about it, and expect it. I'll let you know in 60 days if I've wasted my time!

The message of this book is simple and I enjoyed reading it from that aspect but the format is not for me. I am not saying that I don't believe Ester and Jerry Hicks' experiences but they are not for me...something just doesn't sit right with me on this and I can't ignore it and its put me off reading more of their work.
I believe strongly in the creative mind, so I was predisposed to appreciate the messages in this book. I found them repetitive, and even though I was told over and over, I'm still not sure how to proceed now that I'm done reading. Still, I liked it enough to buy it for repeated reference.
I found this book to have alot of valuable insights and ideas, but there were also ideas that I don't agree with so I did a lot of sifting to make sure I only took the best of it. In a nutshell it promots being happy and tells you how to go about doing that. Very valuable information.
I am definitely an "Abraham Head" these days, consuming everything they write and say. This is the book that lays out the basic fundamentals of the Law of Attraction and how it works. They cover details on various life challenges and how to attract what we want even in the throws of negative experience. For the most part, these folks are the source of most of the information out there on Law of Attraction, including the Secret Movie and many of the folks on it. If you want to learn...more
The ideas are good. I think the basic concept is repetitive, especially throughout the series. As much as I read about it and follow the concepts, the law of attraction seems to allude me. And I do not want bad stuff, I can release, so what's the problem?
This book was lent to me and I had to return it before finishing it. I got about halfway through. I've read quite a number of inspirational and power-of-the-mind type books over the years and The Law of Attraction did absolutely capture the essence of how your thoughts affect your reality. It was very well-written. Had it been my own book, I definitely would have kept it in my read-again library.

I've been reading and re-reading this book for the past year and it never gets dull! I LOVE this book and will definitely need to get it in ebook format so I can always have it with me. This book is a staple.
This book was pretty wacky. It made a few good points, but in general the idea that everyone has complete free will, and all misfortune is self-induced is a very dangerous one. This kind of thinking contributes to scary modes of thought including rational self-interest and individualism, ideologies that actively deny the existence of social structures and cultural contexts. This justification of existing systems of inequality can only contribute to more human suffering.
This gives alot of good information on changing your way of thinking to obtain what you want from life. Although it is quite repetitive and I don't usually care for that type of writing.

Interesting, selfish, and from a shady source. One of the most detailed and specific texts on the Law of Attraction I've read anywhere... heavily blended with lies and half-truths about our eternal identity and a complete neglect of our responsibilities in what we do with this knowledge. I give it one star, because unless you have a REALLY good handle on the plan of salvation and are pretty darn expert at discerning truth from error, you will have a tremendous difficulty in sifting through this ...more
this book probably could have been shortened to 30 pages or less - too much repetition. good message, positive philosophy - but once you've gotten halfway through, you can pretty much stop
This is the first book I have read by Jerry and Esther Hicks (Abraham). If you want to learn the basics of The Law Of Attraction, I would definitely recommend this over "The Secret".
Well - this is the 'Secret' behind the 'Secret' that has become so popular. I started reading this years ago but am re-reading it again. You gotta be open-minded on this one!
I like this book, what else is there to say? hmmmm All of Ester and Jerry hicks books are great. Even the Sarah series, which I have started reading to my son.
the processes are great tools for life. i don't get why it has to be presented via this channeling, which i think makes it weird. and i'm all for esotericism, i just don't feel like it fits or is necessary or really good or relevant here. there is some unique material here: if not original in concept at least it is original in organization/segmentation/packaging/processizing. read it, appreciate that the channeling is there for those that it works for, understand the emotional scale, believe...more
