CANDIDE. (1956). Lillian Hellman, Leonard Bernstein, & Richard Wilbur. ****.
I was lucky enough to see the original Broadway production of this musical written by Hellman, with music by Bernstein, and lyrics by Wilbur. I was in high school at the time and worked on the weekends accompanying bus trips from Philly to New York of groups of theater goers. We’d leave early Saturday morning and return on Sunday evening.
