“Liberals’ loyalty to the United States is off-limits as a subject of political debate. Why is the relative patriotism of the two parties the only issue that is out of bounds for rational discussion?”

In a stunning follow-up to her number one bestseller Slander, leading conservative pundit Ann Coulter contends that liberals have been wrong on every foreign policy issue, fro...more

I checked this out to find out if she was really as hateful as her reputation.

It didn't take long.

Coulter wants to be inflammatory, outrageous, and get her team riled and ready to fight. It is difficult to find her insulting when she never has anything valuable to say. It's a pity that so much education has been wasted on her and so many years of women struggling to be heard and taken seriously are tainted by loud mouthed, igorami like Coulter. A lot of hardship would do her good. We'd cut down the global warming effect by reducing greenhouse gasses if people like Coulter, O'Reilly, Gingrich...more

Coulter's most historically-focussed work, this volume details a new perspective on the Cold War, especially Senator Joe McCarthy. The Venona project revealed that nearly all of the people McCarthy questioned were not only sympathizers with the Communist Party, but were actual agents of the KGB. To this day, few historians have factored the Venona Project into consideration when examining/smearing McCarthy unreservedly.
Before I begin I want to say I bought this book [the hard book no less:] for $2.70. I know I could have purchased a candy bar or better yet had two spins on a 25 cent quarter video poker machine! I am not a fan of Ann Coulter and almost dislike the far right conservatives almost as much as the far left liberals [well maybe not almost but I can't stand listening to the filth of either side:]. Both sides see everything as black/white or right and wrong. Most everyone I know [whether they call them...more
I started laughing at Coulter's ability to be a full-blown, conservative, Neo-Nazi quack. But then it just got boring. There's only so much nonsense an intelligent mind can take, ya know?

Ann Coulter is, shall we say, sensationalistic, but her books are very well researched (and footnoted with solid sources), and her style very readable. I found this one in particular facinating as I've been on my Cold War kick. Lots and lots of history, but with some new slants, as new documents have been unclassified and made accessable to the public in the 90's. Coulter garners much information from these declassified FBI reports (The Venona Project). Seems Joe McCarthy wasn't so crazy after a...more
Excellent weekend read with great information about the 'red scare' that many people do not know. I was surprised how much of the book is based not only in this time period but in documented fact concerning the red scare of the late 1940s and 1950s. An excellent read, especially for those educated in public schools.

Reading Ann Coulter's books is my little guilty secret. My political loyalties are diametrically opposed to those of Coulter but I do have to concede the point when she puts the record straight about Senator McCarthy. That said, I really do not see why Hollywood screenwriters were blacklisted. I also have to accept that Ronald Reagan and his policies were really responsible in ending the Cold War. However, Reagan's policies were a big gamble that may have resulted in a conventional invasion of w...more
Jon gave me this book as a gag gift for either my birthday or Xmas one year (I can't remember which). I tried to read it with an open mind, I really did, but Gott in Himmel this woman is PSYCHOTIC. I mean really... Nixon was the greatest president the U.S. has ever had? Does anyone in their right mind really believe that?

Aside from all of the historical and factual inaccuracies (this was written by the woman who thinks Canada sent troops to Vietnam, after all), there is also the matter of the ch...more

Ann Coulter has a singular wit and razor sharp tongue. Chronicles some of the actions taken by politicians that are destroying this nation.

Hated it!
"Because you need me, Springfield. Your guilty conscience may move you to vote Democratic, but deep down you long for a cold-hearted Republican to lower taxes, brutalize criminals, and rule you like a king."

- Sideshow Bob, The Simpsons

To paraphrase Jon Stewart: of course, Democrats have to prove that they love America because they're Democrats. Unlike Republicans, who love America, they just hate half the people living here!

I hate to admit that I read this book. I think better of myself. I belie...more

Ann makes Republicans look really bad. I read this with the hopes that I would learn something about what goes on in the mind of a Republican when I am surrounded by liberals and Democrats (such dirty words!) and found her to be completely a waste of time. She is nuts. Her points are nuts and unfounded. She starts off with remarks about "McCarthyism" as the blasphemous accusation spewed today. And I'm thinking she is talking to the wrong generation. I haven't heard anyone yell "McCarthyism" ever...more
Everything wrong with America is the fault of liberals and if we could only get rid of them what a happy sunshiny place it would be.

There, I just saved you two hours.

And can somebody explain to me why Ann wears that same dress all the time. Is she like Charlie Brown and her closet has just a dozen of the same outfit?

As an ex liberal I had to keep fact-checking Coulter. I couldn't believe what I was reading. Much to my chagrin, she checked out every time. Quite an eye opener!

Coulter’s thesis in Treason is that Democrats have committed treason against the United States by giving aid and comfort to our enemies since at least the end of WW2. Democrats bad, Republicans good. She describes the extensive network of Soviet spies who occupied high political offices, the Democratic politicians who appointed and defended them, and the Republican attempt to oust them spearheaded by Senator Joseph McCarthy. She then turns to later conflicts in which Democrats supposedly undermi...more
One of Ann's best. She gives a great breakdown of the HUAC and McCarthy trials and substantiates that the media and currently history distorts these facts and that in fact the State department and many other high levels of government during the 1930's through the 1950's was infiltrated with American spies working for the Soviets. Amazing how Great Britain accurately reports the exploits of the Cambridge spies and the damage done to MI5 during the Cold War and the US blames the messenger and gets...more

This book marks a distinct fork in the road and I can say i knew I was completely alienated from my oldest and dearest friend when he sent me this inflammatory screed in an attempt to "get us on the same page". Someone mentioned "well researched" in reference to Ms. C's work? Take me to the library where this "Liberals have a preternatural gift for striking a position on the side of treason." would be a documented fact and I'll buy you cheap beer until they turn up the TV for the NASCAR race, in...more
I read the first two pages and had to chuck this across my school's library, scream, and then cleanse my skin with foamy soap in the Girl's Bathroom.

I hope this bitch gets brain cancer.

What got me angry was the line "People think Liberals love America. They don't."

Hmm, so just because they have different views, they're trying to systematically and intentionally destroy the country they've lived in their whole lives, raised their children, followed its laws, paid their taxes, declined from bombi...more
This book tells the a history of how the liberals (mainly demomcrats) in our great country (USA) have literally sold us out by being soft on communism and terrorism. If what the author is saying is true and her infomation/facts are correct, our liberal leaders have cost us many wars such as Vietnam, many lives and world scorn due to wishy washy liberal politics. If we would get tough as Reagan was on the cold war (which we did win) the world would have fewer murderous dictators like Stalin, Hitl...more
As I look at the reviews of others, I see people either hated this book or loved it. After reading the reviews of several of those that hated the book, I have to wonder if they really read the book. They don't seem to have much of substance to say.
As I read this book, I was taken aback as I considered all that I had been taught in the public school system. Once again Coulter lays out her evidence in a systematic and logical fashion. This book is well worth reading and considering. I do think i...more
Ann Coulter isn't frequently taken seriously by either conservatives or liberals. Her other books are basically political comedy: she makes witty (hilarious, even) observations about those on the opposite end of the political spectrum, she entertains with wild, exaggerated (and again, hilarious) personal opinions about policies, and generally tries to shock readers and sensationalize.

However, Treason is an exceptionally well-researched, fact-filled book about the oft-misunderstood Senator Joe Mc...more

I finished reading another “right-wing conspiracy nut” book. This time it’s Treason by Ann Coulter.

After reading Useful Idiots by Mona Charen, I initially found Coulter’s book to be a lot more off-the-cuff and sardonic.

Coulter loves to mock liberals and she does a great job of setting up the figurative bowling pins of historical facts and knocks them down again and and again.

Treason spends a good deal of time in the 1940s and 50s examining the House Un-American Activities Committee (HUAC) and th...more
"Treason" was superb! I have always thoroughly enjoyed Ann Coulter's appearances on FOX news and her columns, so I was very excited to read this book. It's just a little dated now, but still a great read.

Coulter, as usual, is not afraid to send insults flying on the wings of evidence, aimed at the moronic liberals who have betrayed this country for over half a century.

If you want the cold hard facts about McCarthy, the Cold War, the Vietnam War, and Ronald Reagan, this book is a great place to s...more

This book is long on outrage and short on facts. Ann Coulter is both entertaining and outrageous which always makes her fascinating. Her theory seems to be that if any compromise needs to be made then it is treasonous. The prime example was her accusation that President Kennedy acted with treason during the Cuban Missile Crisis in 1963. While most of the country saw his actions as heroic Ann Coulter saw it as treasonous because Kennedy agreed to take out Jupiter missiles in Turkey in exchange fo...more
This was a fantastic read! I laughed the whole way through. Her writing is witty and charismatic, as though you were talking with her face to face. She takes topics and circumstances that we all have at least heard of and digs a little deeper into what really happened. She explores how society looks back on the Cold War, its causes, and the misrepresentations modern media and schoolrooms teach us. All of her facts and figures are available on the public record for anyone to look up. I was thorou...more

Please don't laugh; I actually own this book. A colleague left a box of free books outside her office door. Two were Ann Coulter classics, Treason and Slander. I'm as effective at passing up free books as a Democrat is at passing up a good betrayal.

I skimmed this one between classes. It's so bad it's kind of amusing. Is Coulter nothing more than a cliched chimera that her fervent audience has invented? Or does she actually take herself seriously? I cannot answer these questions, but I can say t...more

This is, in my opinion, by far the best of Ann Coulter's books. The book discusses Congressman McCarthy, and really delves into what McCarthy did and said. Ann makes some excellent points that show McCarthy in a much different light than many others would have you believe.

My personal viewpoint is that while certain aspects of McCarthyism were bad, McCarthy was a loyal patriot that significantly helped uproot a significant number of security concerns in the US government in the 1950's.

“Already liberals are trying to rewrite the history of the Cold War to remove Reagan from its core, to make him a doddering B-movie actor who happened to be standing there when the Soviet Union imploded. They have the media, the universities, the textbooks. We have ourselves. We are the witnesses. ” 8 likes
“Whether they are defending the Soviet Union or bleating for Saddam Hussein, liberals are always against America. They are either traitors or idiots, and on the matter of America’s self-preservation, the difference is irrelevant” 0 likes
