As you can see by the title the story is loosely based on the well known classic Pride and Prejudice, and I thought the premise was really interesting. A modern girl plopped into Regency England! I'm going to have a conversation with the author to see if she can help me make that happen, but on to the story of Callie... Note: When you start reading let the book stand on it's own and not compare it with the classic because it isn't meant to be a retelling. It's just uses some of the plot to prope

I ended up finishing this book well into the night after getting so caught up in Callie's temporary world that I couldn't put it down!
Prada & Prejudice is the story of Callie Montgomery, a modern day teenager with a penchant for making a fool of herself. Callie spends the first part of a school trip to London trying to find an in to the "in crowd", but ends up taking a spill that takes her back to 1815 and lands in her the manor of a very hot duke.

I completely adored this book. I wasn't sure how into regency England I was going to be but it turns out I'm a huge fan. It was so cute & clever and I couldn't put it down. The story is about a girl named Callie who is on a school trip to London. She's sorta clumsy and is feeling lonely and wants to get in with this particular group of girls. She thinks buying an expensive pair of Prada shoes might do the trick and when walking out of the store in her new shoes, falls and hits her head, and wake

Prada and Prejudice is one of those books that uses the famous Pride and Prejudice book to gain attention. It worked, at least I know it did for me. I didn't expect it to be a lot like the Austen writing, which is good because the author is clearly modern just like her character, Callie.
Callie is supposed to be smart and a complete kluts which is why, in a way, she "falls" into 1815. She is funny and Hubbard does a great job in making funny scenarios. It isn't one of the fu More...

Pride and Prejudice meets The Wizard of Oz meets The Princess Diaries in this enchanting story of a young girl's journey back in time.
Callie Montgomery is an adorable, funny, bright, and klutzy character, and you will both cheer and cringe along with her as she struggles to survive in Regency era England. But some things are timeless, like cute boys and good friends, and Callie finds both during her search for a way home. She also discovers something she never had before--her own se More...

Prada and Prejudice is a fun, breezy read and I enjoyed it. The story moves along quickly and never falters start to finish.
Mandy Hubbard creates interesting characters. The heroine, Callie/Rebecca, is very easy to identify with. Who, as a teenager, felt they didn't fit in?
Her unexpected trip back to 1815 is filled with good intentions, mistakes and well, prejudices that she makes by not having all the information.

And the “Feast of Awesome” continues! If I had describe Prada and Prejudice in one word it would be: cute! It was such a cute read! I’d even say that middle grade readers would enjoy this one.
I love the whole regency period and often wish I’d magically land in the era myself, so this novel was right up my alley. Callie was a very 21st century character so having her wake up in the 1800's was rather comical! I would have liked to gotten to know her 21st century character a little bit More...

Fun book--I liked that Callie learned about herself and acquired some much-needed self-confidance during her trip to the past. What I thought was interesting was that she assumed that people in 19th century should think and behave like the people in the 21st century. As a plot device, it did allow for her many misinterpretations of things Alex (whom she has a crush on) says or does. That, and some of the way she says things I found slightly annoying, which makes me think that the author perfectl

Bottom Line: Prada and Prejudice showed a lot of potential: the idea was interesting, the characters were supposedly modern and relateable, etc. However, it ended up being a major disappointment for me because of mainly one thing: Callie. I didn't like her attitude and, for the most part, wasn't able to relate to her. On the other hand, I could definitely see the connections between the originial Pride and Prejudice and this More...

In a few words, Prada and Prejudice is Jane Austen meets the Wizard of Oz.
I had some expectations for this book : Austen fiction, cute romances and time travel being themes I usually really enjoy, I was hoping I could enjoy this book – and I did! It was a light and charming romance that went by quickly, with many cute and funny moments and entertaining characters.

In the interest of full disclosure, I must admit that I own a pair of Prada boots. Not heels. Never heels. I’d instantly fall on my face like Callie, the main character, does, but I’m pretty sure doing so wouldn’t transport me back to 1815 where I’d get to live in a mansion with a hot, green-eyed duke and wear fabulous dresses. So yeah. I’ll stick with my boots (even if they are several seasons ago by now).

I loved Mandy Hubbard's modern twist on this old classic. I think Jane Austen would be proud. It was cleaver and cute. I love sarcastic banter between two love interest and there was a lot of that. The writing was smart and interesting.
I was glad it ended the way that it did, because to be honest, I was waiting for the predictable. But, it didn't happen. I keep thinking any minute Rebecca was going to show up and foil the act. I was glad she never made an appearance.

This is one of those books that I was so excited to read when it first came out and now a couple years later I'm finally reading it. Like the other books featured in the Flashback Friday, I'm wondering why this took me so long to read. It was fabulous! How could I not love a book that takes place in both modern day and 1800's London England, has a fiesty character, romance and a well written friendship.

I was really looking forward to reading this book after reading You Wish. While it wasn't as funny as You Wish was, I really liked the storyline - I'm a sucker for time travel romances - and thought it ranked right up there with one of my all-time favorite time travel romances, Remembrance by Jude Deveraux.

I'll admit, when I first bought Prada and Prejudice, it was due to the fact it was cheap. Like honest. But, I totally did not regret getting it. It is such a sweet romantic story. It's my go-to book to take on a trip, because I'm not afraid to loose it, it's lightweight, and I don't mind reading it over and over again because of how utterly adorable it is.

I am such a sucker for a Pride and Prejudice retelling. I cannot even begin to count the number of retellings that I have read. With that being said, I must admit that I was a little disappointed with this version.
In this version of Pride and Prejudice, Callie somehow manages to transport herself to 1815 England when she falls and hits her head. That is really hard for me to accept. I feel that the book should have picked one time period and stuck there. Time traveling Jane Austen i More...

Prada and Prejudice I feel like is more of it's own story. There isn't much of Pride and Prejudice in it besides the main two character's (who I am glad are not named Elizabeth or Darcy but Callie and Alex) reaction to each other. The main girl Callie is a girl who we can all if not some of us can relate a bit with. She is the girl who feels awkward in conversations and think something is wrong with her when the rest of the teens don't hang out with her. The story adds that Callie time travels s

I am a sucker for a good love story so it shouldn’t come as a surprise that I loved Mandy Hubbard’s PRADA AND PREJUDICE. But simply labeling this tale as a romance would be grossly underestimating it.
My favorite love stories are the ones that are able to combine the romance with a deeper character arc, and not only does Mandy do this, but she is able to add in magic, dresses, balls, and a few not-to-subtle nods to one of my favorite novels of all time, Pride and Prejudice. To top it More...

I feel almost bad giving this book so few stars because it is pretty much what I should have expected. "Modern" girl goes back in time to 19th Century England. It really does scream "young adult chick lit." However, I feel like the premise could have made for a charming book.
However, the protagonist's voice is forced and unintelligent. This bothers me because she is supposed to be an honours student. Hubbard tries far too hard to make the protagon More...

In this Austen spin-off (very loosely based on Pride and Prejudice) for young adults, high school sophomore Callie goes on the class summer trip to London, partially to try to change her D-list image, and partially to avoid visiting her father and his new family.
In an effort to impress the Popular Girls, Callie purchases a pair of red Prada shoes. Unused to wearing such high heels, she trips as she leaves the store. She hits her head and wakes up in 1815.

this was a cute, fun, mindless read. interesting premise, a la kate & leopold but the other way around, where the modern day girl ends up in old school england. it took a while for this book to really get going for me, but in the end i surprisingly found myself invested in the characters and the drama and even near tears at one point.

I love fashion and I love historical fiction. And more so, I love Pride and Prejudice by Jane so it was a great mix. I loved this book from the beginning. Callie's life in the 21st Century wasn't one of the best. I got to know her pretty well before she came into 1800s and I liked that a lot. It was nice to see her grow as a character.
I loved the characters in the 1800s as well. Emily was such a cute, bubbly girl and she reminded me of one of the younger Bennet girls, Lydia. Alex was More...

What can I say beyond 'oh my god why couldn't this happen to me?' I'll try to however. The title of course eludes to that most famous work, Pride and Prejudice, but unlike a lot of the Austen-esque sequels and re-invents coming out this year it has very little to do with those characters and more to do with the setting, attitudes and way of life.
