I bought this book in an effort to refresh my knowledge of the Renaissance for the purposes of teaching, and it worked well for that purpose. First published in the mid-1980s, this book is a great primer for someone who is already somewhat acquainted with the art of Renaissance Italy. It is divided systematically into chapters (such as the artist, taste, and patron & client) which makes for a fairly easy read.
