Back in Konoha, the massive frogs have arrived to inform all assembled that Pervy Sage has what been done in by the Pain ninja. I understand this use of English is a little unconventional, but if I have to read hillbilly frog then you lot can read my lame attempt at Cockney. So animal cruelty occurs when Pervy Sage's last message is a code burnt into the back of a frog ... but what does the code say? I wonder. In fact I didn't wonder, I intuitively knew that we would be told at some point. How d ...more

This is like my first time reading Naruto manga. I normally watch the anime cuz...well, I like watching things in motion and not seeing chunks of random things. I just randomly found this at the library, and I was like "Okay...I'll read this."

But still...one of the saddest moments in Shippuden... Jiraiya's death was terrible... He was an awesome teacher to Naruto, probably the best... I mean, my favorite character, and one of the reasons why I'm still watching this hatred-and-revenge-filled, ann

Sasuke joins the malevolent Akatsuki and renames his team 'Chaka'. While the mysterious Tobi/Lord Madara tells 'Chaka' to find the eight tales biest, the Pain's will set out to find Naruto, the nine tails. In the leaf village, Naruto decodes Jiriaya's final words in katakana. It says: 'The real one's not among them', what could this mean? Finally, Naruto finds out that he is the child of the prophecy, and goes to Mount Myobaku to train with the chief elder, to learn the ultimate jutsu, the forbi ...more

We start off with Chapter 403:Tears.
Naruto has been confronted by Uchiha, Itachi. Itachi asks Naruto what he would do if Sasuke attacked the village. Naruto denies this idea on the belief that Sasuke would never hurt Konoha. Itachi imparts a small fraction of his power to Naruto saying, 'I hope you never have to use it.'
Meanwhile Sasuke has been taken in by Uchiha, Madara(Tobi,) and told the real story of Itachi. Sasuke remembers more details of that terrible night years ago. What those details

I must say it is and it will forever be(fingers crossed) my favorite Manga novel read.

the way Masashi Kishimoto described the characters is just awesome, you get to see them growing up, becoming responsible... powerful...

and it is not just characters,

The plot itself is so much bigger... u simply can't get enough of it. and add to that,

u get more than just entertainment, you learn...
what is
responsibility,
respect,
kindness,
friendship...

so it is not just a manga it is a way of living... The sprite

Aw, poor Naruto. I feel so bad for him. He took Jiraiya dying so hard... but yay to Shikamaru and Iruka for cheering him up. :)

I can't wait to find out what the code means.. or like more about Pein since he's so strange..

I can't wait to see what's next in Naruto's sage training!

And that 8 tails.. weird..

Dear Kishimoto-sensei,

I love how you captured Naruto and Tsunade's emotions in this volume. As much as I hate to admit it, they were dead on and the execution of those scenes was beautiful. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Naruto is a ninja-in-training with an incorrigible knack for mischief. He's got a wild sense of humor, but Naruto is completely serious about his mission to be the world's greatest ninja!

Putting this one on b/c I read it today & it made me cry! Lots of action & finally answering some of the series-long questions...gut-wrencher.

Taka takes on a tailed beast. Naruto starts sage jutsu. A bit of a slow down compared to the previous volumes. Still good though.
Susan
This was really for two reasons: a) Naruto learns about Jiraiya, and b) that eight tails guy is a rapper. WTF, Kishimoto?
stephanie
I cried through the first half of this volume.
