Bail jumping in Trenton is down to small potatoes. Stephanie's only open case is a small bond for a small violation, committed by a small person who raises Stephanie's frustration level in big ways. So short of money and long on bills, Stephanie comes up with a plan --diversify! Signing on as an intern with entrepreneurial Super Bounty Hunter Ranger, Stephanie ventures into Ranger's mostly morally correct and marginally legal operations.

Mystery. Stephanie Plum. This time her uncle's disappeared, the boxer that tried to kill her in the first book is out of jail, and she's got a midget and some guy named Bunchy on her case. Lots of Morelli and Ranger in this one, including a MYSTERY SEX ENDING. I'm still on Team Morelli, but Ranger's moving up in the polls thanks to the flirting and the trying to keep Stephanie in cars. Despite a rocky start ("OMG, Stephanie, get a better lock, move, change your name, something!"), Bunc...more

I'm totally hooked!
Stephanie Plum does it again. Bounty hunting is a little slow at the moment. The only FTA available is a midget armed with a knife, and he's only worth $70. Gas must have been cheaper when this book was written, because Stephanie takes the job anyway. She finds out soon enough that this one won't come in easily. So she agrees to look for her Uncle Fred who has gone missing. He was on his way to the garbage company to get the $2 he was owed when they failed to pick up his ...more

I almost don't want to claim this one on my Goodreads record... but I like to read all sorts of things and like having a full record of them. I'm in the habit of picking up cheap paperbacks at Goodwill to trade on paperbackswap.com for books I really want to read. Turns out that Janet Evanovich is a fairly big swapper, so for $0.50 I brought this one home, and then once it was in my apartment it was only a matter of time before I read it. I kind of wish there were another type of star for Goodre...more

Janet Evanovich is at it again... laughed out loud and couldn't put this book down.
Stephanie is looking for her missing uncle... and picks up a tail in the process (of course). Bunchy, the Bookie, is looking for Fred too and decides to follow Stephanie to find him. It turns out that Fred stumbled on to some nepharious dealings with the local utilities. Apparantly dumb luck runs in the family.

I was having a hard time getting into the last Plum book mostly because I was super busy. I was even thinking of taking a break from the Plum series once I finished this book just so I wouldn't start hating the series. (I was reading them one right after the other)
Well High Five sucked me back into the series. Evanovich really knows how to make me laugh, she is hilarious!

High Five is another quirky, often humorous mystery that features bounty hunter Stephanie Plum. In this book, Stephanie's Uncle Fred has gone missing, and her family thinks that she is just the one to find him. Uncle Fred's disappearance takes a sinister turn when his desk reveals photos of body parts. As Stephanie tries to find out what happened to him, several people she interview turn up dead and she must work to find out who is behind the murders. Stephanie's life is comlicated in this b...more

These books just keep getting better and better. Another wild ride with Stephanie as she tries to find her missing uncle Fred. And deal with two smokin' hot babes vying for her attention. Who will she choose? The cliffhanger at the end of the book will necessitate you having book six on hand or else there will be much screaming and throwing of book five against the wall. Luckily I was warned ahead of time and couldn't get six cracked open quick enough to find out. I love Stephanie, she is ...more

The next book in the Plum saga. Stephanie has managed to add another blown up car to her list which brings her total to around 4 and one car added to the stolen category yet the Buick is still hanging in there. And, along with Morelli, Ranger now joins the race for Stephanie's affections. Beides the fact that people are constantly trying to kill her, Stephanie is a lucky woman.
Also be on the lookout in High Five for an old friend who reappears to spice things up.

Her family gets Stephanie on the search for her missing uncle, a penny-pincher who is not missed by his wife. Stephanie finds herself smack dab in the middle of a police investigation.
Trying to make rent, she takes a few small jobs (no pun intended) and asks Ranger for some work. Things just don't seem to go Stephanie's way, but she makes it through intact, though her vehicular body count is high.
Between Morelli and Ranger, Stephanie's love life is getting complicated. At the end of...more

I laughed aloud during this Plum mystery than the previous four thus far - they were good, too, but this one just had some great moments (not a surprise, really!)
I got very frustrated with Stephanie when a certain someone comes back to stalk her. Why doesn't she call the police sooner? Why doesn't she stay with her parents? I guess it's pride, but it was really frustrating me!!
However, it all works out in the end (although the end is still something of a mystery. I'm on Morelli's tea...more

I can't get enough of this series. I'm surprised at how Stephanie, even though she's only a fictional character, can stay sane between her 'job' and her family. I can't imagine what my life would be like if I had someone like Grandma Mazur as part of my family. Joe's comment ticked me off, and Ranger... oh, there's a man I'd love to get my hands on. I don't know how Janet does it, but you really feel for Stephanie. You can feel her panic, her indecision, her confusion... she's definitely an orig...more

I love the Stephanie Plum series of novels.I'm drawn in with the excitment and adventure of the story that Janet seems to capture in every novel. It has twists, turns, Lula, mystery, wonder, and of course two very "HOT" men! Who wouldn't want a mix of both men. :}They're all great fun and keep you as a reader at the edge of your seat waiting to see if a cars going to get blown up, who's died this week, who attends the pot roast dinner, who she sleeps with next, what will burn down next...more

So I breezed through books 3-5 over last weekend and I have to say they are growing on me! While no one quite compares to the madcap of Grandma Mazur as a sidekick, I love Lula, and I like Sally in #4 and Bunchy and the little man in this one. Once Stephanie and Joe Morelli got together in earnest in #4 I was quite hooked. I can't believe some people are rooting for Ranger! Although the flirting is fun, it's all about Joe for me... I requested books 6-10 from the library. Got tired of always wai...more

At the end of HIGH FIVE we are left with a thread dangling on the last page. Whose name, Morelli's or Ranger's did Stephanie pull out of the bowl in her Night of Passion Lottery?
Ok I think it was Ranger... was it.. was it... was it Ranger? LOL
Ok maybe I just hope it was Ranger but then if she cheated and looked anyway it probably wasn't. It's never going to work for Stephanie & Joe though, way too much history there.
I enjoyed this one much more than books 3 & 4

OK, I have to admit, these books are my guilty pleasure. Are they literary breakthroughs? Are you going to learn something important about yourself? Are you going to be moved by the depth of emotion? Uh, no, no and no. But, if you start reading this series you are definitely going to LOL! Stephanie Plum is an accidental, "bombshell bounty hunter" who becomes a trouble magnet. With smarts, tenacity, lots of luck and a little help from her friends, she always cracks the case. Jus...more

This is the first in the series that I read instead of listening to on audio. I love the audiobooks and I enjoyed reading this one as much as I have enjoyed listening to the earlier ones! There are several times when I laughed out loud.
I liked that this one differed from the others in who Stephaine was seaching for. I also like the extra spicey love life and the return of a bad guy from one of the earlier books. Plus, the ending! Wow - I can't wait to get the next book.

i absolutely love these books, i have a hard time putting them down. i am finding that i am relating more and more with the main character with each book that i read in the series. They are so funny and they keep me on the edge of my seat. I just finished this book today and my heart was racing thru most of the book. I definately recommend these books to anyone who is looking for some laughs and some steamy scenes along with some thrills.

The fifth book in the Stephanie Plum series. This right now is my favorite of the series. Stephanie starts working for Ranger while looking for her Uncle Fred. Stephanie has another car blow up and her "Champ" is back. On top of that there is a little person in her apartment and Grandma Mazur is still crazy. Stephanie also has 2 men to choose from now. The ending is a shock and there is a cliffhanger on the last page.

This is the fifth in the Stephanie Plum series of chick mysteries, and each one is funnier than the last. Stephanie collects characters -- this time it's a little-person computer genius who moves into her apartment over her objections -- and leaves a trail of firebombed cars wherever she goes. Great books for the beach, the plane, or the stationary bike.
