Sehr bald merkt Veronika, dass in diesem Kuckucksnest voll überschäumender, fantasievoller Figuren die verschlossen-mürrischen Wärterinnen die eigentlichen Verrückten sind, stumpf und ohne jeglichen Lebensfunken ihre Arbeit verrichtend. Dr. Igor, der Anstaltsleiter, ständig am Erproben fragwürdiger Therapiemethoden und für den Anstaltsalltag kaum zu erwärmen, steigert das Ganze endgültig ins Absurde.
