A great resource to learn about the chronological development of the sugar industry in Hawai'i from 1835-1920. I left with a more informed understanding of the circumstances that brought people of varying parts of the world to work in the Hawaiian cane fields. I also developed a deeper appreciation for the struggles that they overcame and their significant, but widely overlooked contribution to the state's modern economy and culture.
