Wendy and her younger brother Elliot are on a road trip with their parents, which Elliot and Wendy hates because they wanted to go to summer camp. The Wyoming countryside does very little to excite the two kids, so Wendy suggests that maybe she and Elliot could ride in the trailer hitched behind their car. Once inside the trailer, the two kids merrily pass the time as the trailer accelerates down the highway. When the ride gets a little bumpy, the kids assume their mother is driving, but the tra...more

The first 'idol' of mine I ever met was R.L. Stine. I met him at a book signing in my childhood. I had a meringue after, and learned that I don't like meringue. But I liked Goosebumps. Now I don't like Goosebumps.

I read this expecting to enter a euphoric state of nostalgic bliss, and was sorely disappointed. The story is just awful, Stine throws a twist in the end that has no basis in the rest of the story, it just kind of happens completely randomly. The earthquakes that shake Camp JellyJam are...more

For some odd reason I really like the camp books. Here you have wo kids who get detached from their parents (literally)The end up at a fun little sports camp. Right away I knew it was fiction when all the kids obeyed the camp rules! Anyways It was written in female first person and was done well. I was entertained from the start to the end. The ending was strange and kinda gross. On a side note the description on some sites is really off base (no pun intended) and is exactly why I don't read the...more

This book has everything that will keep a young reader entertained…excitement, intrigue, mystery, terror, and of course grossness! I think that R.L. Stine is one of the best “horror” writers for children because he finds a way to empower the young characters of his books to find their own solutions to their problems. Problem-solving is definitely a necessity in the world, and I love how Stine can empower children to solve problems and think for themselves in a manner that appeals to them. True,...more

This is more of an overall review of the series, really. When I was a kid, I used to devour these books, but sadly I'd recently somehow managed to forget all about them. I was reminded, however, when I rediscovered this awesome blog: http://www.bloggerbeware.com. These books are a mixture of varying degrees of terrible and amazing - at the same time. I honestly find it really hard to rate them, seeing as they're such a major part of my reading foundation. 11 year-old me would probably have given...more

1. Bingo board category: Female protagonist.

2. Why I decided to read it: I have read some of R.L. Stine's other books and I enjoyed them.

3. What I liked and why: What I liked about the book was that it was creepy, mysterious and fun to read. I Enjoy books that you get a excitement out of and all the build and information is reveild at the end.

4. What I didnt like about the book and why: What I didnt like about the book was that the author says that the book will give you a "scare" but he exagera...more

I don't even believe it has only 3 stars on this website, cuz' this was my favorite book from Goosebumps collection. The beginning was so cool I could only think about it has an alternative world, the camp and all that great stuff, I wanted that when I was a kid, it would be a dream and I loved sports that time, now I don't though. The final was kinda... Eww, I think it ruined somehow the book because it was so non-sense I don't even want to descrive it, but at the end I can tell I loved the boo...more

I am never really a fan of summer camp books and most importantly I don't dig stories with kids disobeying their parents. Well I guess that's the moral of the story...DO NOT DISOBEY YOUR PARENTS.
As far as I can remember, this book was still fun and silly, but not as good as the other Goosebumps book series.
The monster was kind of stupid, but the brainwashed campers were completely creepy!

Wendy and Elliot are going to this camp King Jellyjam's Sports Camp. This camp is all about playing sports. Wendy isnt a fan os sports but her brother Elliot is. The counselors at the camp are always happy no matter what, and Wendy gets suspicious. At the night time Wendy always hears loud screams outside her window.

I would recommend this book to people who love to read books that always keep them at the edge of their seat. This was a good book.

If i were to rate this book out of ten, i would giv...more

Ahhh, the Goosebump days. I would borrow so many of these from the library they seriously considered extending my limit of books checked out at one time. R.L. Stine you were a reprieve from a harsh and dreary childhood in which my mind wandered far away from the troubles of the day. I stole books into my bed and read far into the night by the faintest of lights. I might have better eyesight were it not for you; however, I regret not one page or line.

This was one of my favorite Goosebumps books. A girl goes away to camp and finds out that things are really weird here. From earthquakes to disappearing campers, unusual things keep happening and Alicia is very suspicious, and starts trying to discover the secret.

There was an episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer that reminded me very much of this book, and I got such a kick out of that since this was one of the Goosebumps series that I read a few times.

At first I was like "oh man they're going to die." But they didn't. Camp was what Wendy always dreamed of. But then as soon as Wendy meeted her new roommate they start acting strangely. And now there's this award that if you when 6 golden king jelly jam you walk the winner's walk. And then they dissappear. Now Wendy is worried of her brother because he has 2 of them. I can't wait to see what happens next.

I haven't really read it in a long time all I do remember is that some jelly king ate the kids and that was why they disappeared. I used to love goosebumps when I was younger. I guess it was because of the thrill of getting scared, but know that I read them I keep thinking what is the point of the book. Now I really think that they are funny because the kids are plain out stupid.

Well I thought that it was going to be scary. But I was wrong. But it was a good book. At the ending Wendy knew why the campers kept diappering. King Jelly Jam was real. And he was stinking. And when he sweats he sweats out snails. Wendy kept worrying about her brother because he had 5 king coins.

The first two-thirds of the story are very effective in building up tension and atmosphere. The climax and resolution aren't terribly fantastic, which is to be expected from Goosebumps, but all the same, the book retains a pleasing level of creepiness.

I think I have read this book before, but I don't remember what happened in the story, so I read it again. The story talks about Wendy and Elliot who end up in King Jellyjam's Sports Camp. The camp is creepy and strange because the counselors are always smiling. The 2 siblings decided to join activities in the camp while waiting for their parents. But strange things start to happen. Many of the kids that won six king coins are missing, so they decide to solve the mystery.

I love this book! Each chapter was so suspenseful, I couldn't stop reading it! A few parts were a little wierd but most of them were awesome! I really love sports and this boo was a perfect fit! I can't belive what happened!!

This was an interesting one in how it drew upon fears of peer pressure, issues of collective mentality versus the individual and general isolation. Plus the sinister story involved.

This was another that I remember from my childhood. It was still fun and silly, but not as good as I remember it. The monster was kind of stupid, but the brainwashed campers were a tad creepy.

Actual rating: 3.5 stars. While the book does leaves you with some unanswered questions, it's a good story. I don't think you'll be able to guess the ending.

Goosebumps was so popular when I was a kid, we would get in fights in the library over who got to check the new one out next. No joke.
Tyrell Warner
Jellyjam was a somewhat cliche work, where the scariest part of the entire book was the cover, but I still enjoyed reading it.
