Terry Regan is a radio and television salesman who sells a custom-made set to Jack Delaney, an inveterate drunk who is confined to a wheel-chair because of a motor accident caused by his wife. The couple live in Glyn Camp, a small town outside Los Angeles.

Regan takes a fancy to the attractive wife who is considerably younger than her husband and an affair begins. Regan is infatuated and wants Gilda for himself but Delaney is, despite his invalidity, hale and hearty.

However, he devises an ingenio

You can recognize the Black Widow right away. No surprise there. You will actually be saying to yourself, "This guy can't be this stupid!" Well actually, stupidity aside, maybe this time it wasn't murder.

What keeps you reading is that you are curious how both Terry Regan and Gilda Delaney are planning to get out of this mess.

The shortest Chase thriller I've read. Completed in under 6 hours. The plot is the usual Chase novel plot with a femme fatale, money, betrayal and murder! Not his best, but good for a quick read during travel.

TERRY REGAN: "I watched her until i lost sight of her. If you had been able to see the way she walked, the smooth roll of her hips, the power that was in her body, her upright carriage, you would have felt the same way as i felt, and i mean just exactly that"
